A small announcement
-----------------------
It appears our admin team is an effective team :) and we are way ahead of where we expected to be. Our goodly statistician, @Vaxen, has said that with luck, all things being well, he will have initial provisional division placements ready at some point tonight, within a few hours of the deadline. There will inevitably be some entries that have not been officially verified, hence provisional... but the fact we can announce anything at all within such a short time is nothing less than amazing.

To be fair to Chris, he never said that the initial provisional results were going to be made public... :sly:

Roughly 300, which is down from the 385 we had on GT5.

Chris is new to all of this, his post yesterday might have been a bit pre-mature. We're working through decisions on divisional cutoffs. I expect that we'll come to decisions today, and have the registry posted by tonight (West coast tonight), but I would count anything before that as a pleasant surprise for all of you. [/PD]

Superb... You guys treat us better then PD. A bit dissapointed here.... but reading this message makes my day 👍

Wow you guys are fast, didn't put more than an hour into this so hopefully I would not have done too bad, but couldn't miss the tradition of the WRS Qualifier.

Can't wait for the results  to the Team.

Has anyone got a screenshot of division 1 of the GT5 registry that they can post here? I'm introducing one of my friends to the WRS and trying to show him how the handicap works, thanks :)

I had a semi serious crack at the new FT-1 seasonal last night...Hmmm not too good, I was miles off the top times, I'm expecting a new division just for me....D4 Wood

Out of interest, do you think that dropping the GTP prefix has helped with these numbers or, made little or no difference?

About half of the applicants have the tag. Some of them were in the registry previously, and changed to their "main account". Others are brand new to the registry, and might or might not have joined, with the tag requirement.

That's all to say, yes, it probably improved our numbers. Probably not by 50%, but maybe 25%?

Keep in mind that the top times are set with SRF=ON....it's really not representative 👍

Well, I didn't want to join with the GTP tag... Some GTPers are jerks, and I don't want to be associated with them. Other GTPers are great guys, and i don't want to be one of the aforementioned jerks and give people the wrong impression.

Basically, public image.

Discussions are ongoing at this point. Its much harder to reach a consensus about division cut-offs than I imagined... and we need to get this right the first time. With that in mind, it must be said that my post yesterday, made with good intention and somewhat caught up in the moment myself, was very premature and definitely ill-advised.

So, my apologies for stirring up the excitement guys.... :guilty: It looks very much like we're going to be taking a couple of days to run a few models of the divisions before we decide on what to go with. If you're going to lynch me, do it now and get it over with. 👍 I'll lie down if it will help. Just no burnings ok, I hate that.

I accept full responsibility for the premature announcement by the way. The others had nothing to do with that.... a fact that I'm sure they will all support. :dopey:

No harm done, Chris.

I can wait, but I was just excited at the possibility of it being within a couple days, rather than 4 weeks. 👍

No harm done.... I can see the pitch forks glinting in torch-light from here. :scared:

It will only be a couple of days at most, honestly. We're looking at Thursday as it stands I think. [runs off]

As long as you end up in division 4 it's all good :P

Well I was originally not expecting anything until the end of January so this is still pretty exciting :D
And at least I can get some sleep tonight :)

As someone who never joined gt5 wrs because of the need of a GTP id, i feel like this is a good moment to explain why.
I felt it was an important thing, i always saw a lot of fast GTP players around,and... i simply felt like i wasn't good enough to have GTP with my name..this sound stupid probably LOL but still.
Now, without this need, it's just "well, let's try, why not".
I think a lot of new entry now have a similar story.

You might be right. I think a lot of people had their own reasons. In the end, we wanted to open up our gate as wide as possible and remove as many barriers as possible to enter. We're glad you took the plunge and we hope you enjoy yourself and stay a while.

Having said that, if you or someone else changes their mind later and would want to wear the tag, we're going to make that possible. We'll release the details later, but we're going to make it possible to transfer your registration "one time only" if the change involves moving to a tagged PSN account. Completely optional of course, but some people may decide, after they've been around a while, that they in fact would like to use the tag and of course we'd like to encourage that. :sly:
