As someone who never joined gt5 wrs because of the need of a GTP id, i feel like this is a good moment to explain why.
I felt it was an important thing, i always saw a lot of fast GTP players around,and... i simply felt like i wasn't good enough to have GTP with my name..this sound stupid probably LOL but still.
Now, without this need, it's just "well, let's try, why not".
I think a lot of new entry now have a similar story.
This was part of the reason I joined half way through in GT5. I finally decided I couldn't give anyone a bad image if I was only running in the time trials so that's when I made my GTP tag. With this go round I don't have the time to maintain two accounts so that is why I'm running on my main in GT6.

I'm a bit curious, but I'll understand if you cannot say anything. I thought it was going to be pure and simple cold mathematics deciding what the cutoffs were going to be, e.g., how many standard deviations from the average, that sort of thing.

I assume they still have to decide wich laptime is required for a given division. 💡

For those of you who have submitted and are going to be participating in online events you can get something accomplished while you wait. Go fill out our new online driver database form. :sly:

It should only take a few moments and basically will allow our automated registration system to recognize you and pull your first name or nickname [optional] into the registration images as well as your country flag in results tables. We enable chat in lobbies and it's nice if we have a handy name when referring to people. Trying to say some of these PSN ID's is rather awkward. Just leave your division TBD and we'll import that data from the registry automatically.

PS> Even if you were registered online with us in GT5 you will have to fill out the form again. It's a new day!

About half of the applicants have the tag. Some of them were in the registry previously, and changed to their "main account". Others are brand new to the registry, and might or might not have joined, with the tag requirement.

That's all to say, yes, it probably improved our numbers. Probably not by 50%, but maybe 25%?

It's good to read that the uptake is so high. I guess if the rules had been the same as previously, there would have been some moaners but, if it attracts new members and allows people to participate without that element of commitment then it has to be seen as a good thing.

I wonder if the moaners from previous registry qualifiers have come good and have had a go too.

It IS pure and simple mathematics, but we're updating some of the calculations as compared to GT5, and trying to wrap our arms around the outcomes. Want to make sure we're all aligned, and prepared to keep what we decide on for the long haul.

My guess is they are running different distribution models, seeing which model fits the data best.

But then I'm no mathematician.

Tree'd hard.

Well, you sure talk like one!

Then again, some say stats aren't really mathematics...

If you're going to lynch me, do it now and get it over with. 👍 I'll lie down if it will help. Just no burnings ok, I hate that.
I was thinking we could each drive over your feet during the first combo. Maybe a little hit and run action. Seriously though, don't sweat it. I'm sure the other admins gave you a hard enough time for it.

Ditto for me, except it was the last 4 (3?) TTs for GT5 :D

Good to know. Done!

New guy here. I'm having trouble getting a qualifier processed . It always comes back stating that laps do not match Identity. My PS3 in-house ID is one thing, my PS3 name is another etc. What IDs specifically must match. Does my PS3 save name have to be the same as my GTP name ?? I never finished doing this three years ago because the same thing happened and I got tired and went away. I want to race!! Is there a forum just for new guys??

Well first of all: Welcome!

Second: it would seem to me that you are trying to rush things too much.
Slow down for a second and let things sort it out.

Third: You know have plenty of time to register and try out.
The last qualification has been closed, you missed it by less than 24 hours.
but there will be another one.

Right now, the best you can do is try the laps of the qualifiers and try to put a good time.

There are a few threads in the same folder as this one, giving you all the details you need.

But slow down your pace a bit. ;)

PS: It's your PSN ID.

Add a few of the admins to your conversation with fetchy where you submitted and got a rejection response. Add WRP001, Gravitron, Speedy6543 to start with. One of us will take a look.

For the Registry Qualifier I used my GTP account, but can I use my non GTP ID for WRS-Online?

For this week yes, but after this last "open" week No. You must use the account that is listed in the registry for all WRS events.

I guess this is a good time for us to bribe them, and they are expecting it >> WINK WINK <<< if you want to be favorably cut ;)

That's why we are having this uhhmmm ... delay...

Translated... They're skewing the results so they all sneak into divison 1...

P.S Just kidding you, thanks to all you guys for the effort put into this! 👍 :gtplanet:

Admins should take 'donations' and place those donating into the "gentlement's division", with a special handicap of 10.0. Servers don't run themselves, ya know ;)

Quick question, what is the min Internet speed requirment?

Quick question, what is the min Internet speed requirment?
Its less about your actual download/upload speed than your ping rate ie the speed your PS3 can talk to your nearest server and get a response. I have a pretty slow internet speed (~2.5Mb on a good day) but my ping is good (~40ms) and I can race online pretty well with no lag the majority of the time.

Do a speed test here: http://www.speedtest.net/

I've seen people with very slow internet being able to play online. e.g. 0.7Mbps Down/0.3Mbps upload speed
Like Vagabond mentioned, it all depends how good your communication is with the nearest GT6/PD server.
Unfortunatly there's no way of testing that. Doing the test at Speedtest.net gives you an indication but theres no known locations (at least not that I know of) of where PD has their server installed.

Is a high or low ping good. Just did a test and these are my results.

Ping: 135ms
DL: 2.13
UL: 0.13

Thanks for the link Chris.

EDIT: I'm a NAT 1 if that makes any difference.
