I'm new to the WRS and I got one question guys, two wheels on the grass are ok?
Or no wheels on the grass no matter what?

It's been a long time...too long in fact, but there is no way work is going to make me miss a WRS at the ring :) Hopefully this will be the start of an increased participation for me again. 30 mins - 3 laps yielded these, plenty more to take off

Wow, some amazing times been set already... and I've only just managed to do my first run. 5 laps down, 1 clean so I may as well post the splits. Traditionally, much as I love having a blast round the 'ring, I am pretty crap at it so this will be a good opportunity to see if the WRS can work its magic on my lap times here. Not off to a flying start and to be honest I already feel close to my limit on this track. Love the car but that isn't going to save me this week.

I'm going to give it my all... probably put in more time than a normal week since I've never made good progress here... In theory I'm going to end up with a D2 Bronze ranked lap time. I was well happy with my qualifying performance for the registry and that's where I landed then so I'm not going to expect a miracle now. Good luck all. :cheers:
 
Another day at the ring. So many high-speed accidents and so many restarts :). More full laps than yesterday, some good some not so good. For unknown reasons I've grown an unhealthy relationship with the sand traps at eschbach and schwalbenschwanz. Best splits:

(5'36.770 if my manual adding is correct)

No shortage of mistakes and 2 quicker t9's that I dumped while braking after the straight so I'm still hopeful I can inch closer to the limit. :)

Almost blew it at the end. Overall time is not bad - now comes the hard part of knocking tenths off in every sector.....

DS3 Settings: 7/6 BB, ABS 5, everything else off.

Edit: A word of warning - you can quite easily run the right-side mirror THROUGH the ARMCO (Barrier) on the final turn, where the barrier is very close on the right-hand side. There's no sound, but I was able to do it quite a few times and the wing mirror passes nicely through when you watch the replay, with no sound - it just part-disappears.

Though today was my second session on this combo, I've only managed to complete 1 clean lap. Pretty tough challenge. :/

Only submitted my qualifier for the registry today to Vaxen but love the Ring so thought I would have a go even if it is only for fun at this stage!

Is it bad I've not done a single clean lap yet :nervous: The "cleanest" and my fastest, which are the splits I posted just to compare, I came off right on the bend before the long home straight, nightmare.

I have to Second that. Just out of curiosity I straight lined the whole sector deliberately red clocking just to see if it's possible. Can only get 44.5xx doing that, so how they can get 43.xxx is unbelievable :crazy:

My best is a 43.552, Is it possible to upload a video of the 1st sector to show how a sub 44 is achievable? The lap I submitted would have to go down as one of my best efforts at the ring. The only sectors that I performed poorly in where the 1st and 3rd ones, loosing .15 secs in both.

Thats what happens when you ruin a great lap right before that at the same spot and slide into a wall.:ouch: Figured out two spots were I was tapping the brakes and didn't need to be, finding me a lot of time. There is still a lot of time for me to gain yet. It's amazing how I can post splits around a second faster than the previous ones and know I made many mistakes on that lap. Nordschleife is heaven and hell at the saem time.

That would be awesome if you could put it up. Pretty sure others have posted partial replays before, so it should be OK.

I never told this but Darren is actually one of the reasons I started taking the GT racing a bit more seriously. My first game in the series was the GT5Prologue and when I first got online I thought I was quick but I got seriously schooled by him and a few others on Fuji and I just couldn't understand how someone could be that quick. So I started practicing more.

No laps yet for me. Too tired yesterday. Planning to do some tonight.

Picked mine up yesterday Mayhem from the local Harvey Norman. Not sure it's a good week to move to a new wheel, but I'll enjoy trying.

How come you're waiting so long for yours? I just walked into a shop and gave them my card - job done!

Very happy with the lap to T7, but then gradually become more cautious as I enter sections where I've had issues previously. My best splits suggest I've lost 0.5 through T8 and T9, and I've left a massive 0.8 through to the end of the lap, so I have a target to shoot for now at least.

Nice story, Thomas. I also thought I was fast until I joined this place, after racing with a couple of GTP tags in Prologue - the first clean racers I'd seen in GT5P at that point. Been playing GT since the first one but most of my improvement has happened since joining here. :cheers:

No Clubsports for me yet... just sprayed some contact cleaner on the G25 pedals and they're working perfectly again, so may be a while before I can justify new ones to the Minister.

Actually its probably the best week to do that... I instantly improved when I first switched from a DF-Ex to the G25. Enjoy. 👍
 
Nice splits Carlos! If this is your first proper lap then I'd say I've got no chance against you this week - since I've run about 15 laps so far!
