I too would love some video (or just advice) on how to go that fast through T1. After posting my splits yesterday I decided I was tired of messing up so often there that I spent over an hour just grinding T1 and restarting. I don't know if it helped much as I was only able to beat my ghost twice, and the failure rate seemed to be pretty much the same by the end of the session. The succesful splits where more consistent though.

Actually, I'd be pretty happy if someone would just teach me turn 1! I can't seem to figure it out; I feel like I should be able to go faster into it but every time I do I'm too late on the throttle and the ghost sails away.

I never told this but Darren is actually one of the reasons I started taking the GT racing a bit more seriously. My first game in the series was the GT5Prologue and when I first got online I thought I was quick but I got seriously schooled by him and a few others on Fuji and I just couldn't understand how someone could be that quick. So I started practicing more.

No laps yet for me. Too tired yesterday. Planning to do some tonight.

Thanks Anghammarad, (I assume you mean me as most just refer to me as oldnail!). I remember having some great races with you on GT5P and will be pleased to be close to your times. I will be very surprised if I am in Division 1, more likely Division 2 or 3 I think!

Nice splits Carlos! If this is your first proper lap then I'd say I've got no chance against you this week - since I've run about 15 laps so far!

I've run three full laps, and aborted maybe a dozen or more due to excursions in the general direction of another European country :scared:

The splits posted are the second of the three laps. The third was slower through the first few sectors, slightly faster at the T9 juncture and 1.5s up at the line. Gonna have a go at linking it all together now (in theory I should be able to get well into the 38's at T9) - if it doesn't work, I'll post the lap 3 splits.

And thanks 👍

My best is a 43.552, Is it possible to upload a video of the 1st sector to show how a sub 44 is achievable? The lap I submitted would have to go down as one of my best efforts at the ring. The only sectors that I performed poorly in where the 1st and 3rd ones, loosing .15 secs in both.

Yes, you can post a video of the first sector.

Just make sure you don't video the top right corner of the screen that shows your fastest lap. If you reveal a lap time, even if it's not your very fastest, that's going to be a problem.

Finally another portuguese!

Welcome

As for your doubt, see here that this was discussed with examples (at first i didn´t undertand also)

Thanks for the wellcome

But, I'm not officially registered yet :grumpy:, i have to wait for Vaxen to post the results of my division:nervous:.

Is there a chance I just broke my wheel?

In T2 the left turn after the long straight i ended up in the grass and trying to correct there was some noise and now my gears keep going into neutral instead of up. :(
I turned off the game and will retry later, hopefully it's back to normal

I assume you mean the gear the car is in, not the internal gears in the wheel housing.

If so, double check the H shifter. If it's in gear, a lap will typically force you to start in that gear. It's possible you accidentally engaged the clutch (I think that's the triangle button). Also possible you have a bad connection from the shifter assembly to the wheel housing.

Check all of that and call me in the morning. ;)

This combo is like hurling yourself down a mountain, surviving the fall, then getting back up and trying to fall faster next time. Ideally, of course, you want to fall straight down without hitting rocks or trees on the way.

Am loving this, even if I binned a lap about .6 up on these splits. Had a .9 in T1 and think I can knock a second off of this.

Also, scuse for me being dumb, but the paving beyond the white and red rumble strips in T1 is okay to use, isn't it? I'm guessing it is as it's hard surface, but I know at places like Suzuka, etc.

Thanks for the reply.
I tried again and noticed it wouldn't go into 3rd right after the start and also my brakes were out (pretty weird feeling :ill:)
So I took it off the stand and noticed 2 cables unplugged, thank god that was the problem.

Yeah, all the hard surfaces are track. I would consider most of the stuff past the rumbles here to be cobbles. I figured there would be enough frustration from losing laps due to crashing, let alone losing laps because you go an inch past the rumbles. If someone has enough control and patience to push it to the limit in all the spots that same time and still come in clean, more power to them. 👍

Yes it was you. I normally check the profile and if the first name is there I will assume that it is OK to use it on the forum. If you prefer oldnail I will most certainly use that instead. 👍

If you end up in D3 I will be the first in line to call you a sandbagger. :sly:

👍

I'll try to swear less the next time I lose a good lap. :sly:

Well today I managed 1 lap (plus a couple of early restarts!) but still manage to improve on my time considerably. I really want time to have a good couple of hours at this as it is just so much fun and I know I'll be able to improve as I get more consistent. Here's hoping tomorrow throws me some more time, until then:

A few questions to anybody that's listening:

1.) How do you take the fast right-hand sweeper in T2 (The one that is almost a double-right - with a LOT of grass) - I've managed to take this at 131mph but I often get it wrong and lose speed here.

2.) How do you take the penultimate VERY fast turn just before the end of T2 - the uphill slight-left, which again, get it wrong and you're in a massive field of grass and will end up in the sand on the other side of the track when you stop, usually

3.) At the end of the super-high speed, slightly inclined section - there are 2 very fast turns, a left and right - do you guys take these flat? I've found that if I lift, the car struggled in 5th since the elevation is more severe than it seems, changing down though loses speed - the 2nd corner seems slightly less problematic but it's running it quite close if you take it flat.

4.) The 3rd quarter of the lap has tonnes of 80-100mph corners - take mostly in 4th, or flick down to 3rd? I struggle to remember all the turns and end up changing down when I don't need to - so it's probably more that I still don't know this section in enough detail.

No more questions your honour :)

No problem using either Darren or oldnail! I think you may have used a different name in the early days of GT5P which I cannot remember now?

I was definitely not sandbagging, my eyes were sore after the intense concentration needed to do decent sector times for the qualifier! I was just trying not to build my hopes up too much about which division I end up in, You are doing great in Division 1 by the way!

Anyone else think the first sector is the most difficult? Still haven't made a 2 lap run though, which should yield significantly better T1-results. I think the cold tyres make it hard to push in those first couple of corners. Of course, lots of improvement possible ... anywhere! You gotta love it!

ROFL

I know exactly what you mean Ron... they should either remove us mere mortals from D1G or create a D1 Super Division for the likes of Ramon, Zoky and Daniel!!

Anyhow, away on business all week, but hoping to have a go at this over the weekend 👍

The Green Hell has defeated me this morning, but I will be back for more tonight. Six times I was between 1-1.4 seconds up on my ghost at T9 and I finished zero of those laps. I found all sorts of comical ways to screw it up from sliding into the grass exiting the final corner on the best of those laps, twice spinning out into the red/white barrier of the pit lane entrance, once sliding into the grass on the sweeper before the long straight and a couple other stupid mistakes. I will be back tonight and I'm going to put up some kick 🤬 splits.

Tales of woe
Feel the pain... The 'Ring claims many victims, both real and virtual. :scared:

My worst disaster of today is throwing away being 3 seconds up by simply turning straight into the barrier on the last corner like some sort of spasm. :dunce: A few coffees later, I managed another clean run...

28.861
50.436
38.810

Seeing some progress but its bought at a high price in terms of wasted laps and restarts.
