T1 and T3 getting better and better, what a joy :)

But T2 seems to get proportionally worse :ouch:

22.680
29.170

I have done a few 28.80x, but it is either that or a 29+. Before monday night I *will* have it nailed. 51.5 is my goal now.

Update: Ah well. A little bit of progress.

22.693

After 150 or so set up changes managing to shave a bit off every evening but it won't be enough for me to catch the top 4 or 5 in div 4 bronze.....I'll be hanging down where I usually do. Gaining enough in t1 and t3 to be faster at the line but cannot gain on t2 still. Have noticed I gain time when I'm at 20-25 for rear df. Resembles a drift replay in spots but seems to work with my novice driving style. It's comforting to know I can count on the PlatoVagaChukaKev set up no matter where we go evry week. Gonna trade mark that.

23.312
29.728

Will sling it around some more tomorrow between Indy and Charlotte.

Something magical happens when you "bounce" your left tires against the rumbles
before turn 1. Still, 22.868 is the best I've seen for T1.

Nice run there, Poolhaas, don't think I can match that! 👍

EDIT: I'm wrong (again). I can match that.

22.834
29.075

VVVVV Tried the Active Steering Mild just now. I'm still not ET.

Great splits Chuk. Keep 'em coming 👍

Thanks! You are doing quite spectacular this week! 👍 I see myself maybe getting a 51.3xx, which I think will be necessary for a podium in D2. I've ONLY logged about 1700 miles on this combo, so I'm sure how much more I can endure. :dopey:
Looking at your picture (post #496) and comparing it to one I have brought to mind a conversation from an earlier week. The issue is the contact patch of the tire. Your picture is clean by a tread width. My picture shows the sidewall of the tire over the edge of the tarmac, but the contact patch is not. Some would say that because a vertical line can be drawn down the sidewall of the tire to the track surface, this is clean. I would disagree, saying that vertical line is drawn from the contact patch, and not the sidewall. So, in my case, I can't in good faith submit the lap. In yours, I could.
This distinction is what made me look at the difference between cobble and tarmac in the first place. I originally checked to see if I hit the wall, then got curious about where my tire was exactly in relation to the line.
Now that I've rambled on, I'm going to go do some more seat time before the guys show up for Sunday morning racing. I think my goal today is drive at least 1100 miles, followed by a liberal consumption of my favorite I.P.A.!! This will be my personal salute to the drivers at both Indy and Charlotte.

Racing On! :gtpflag:

Nice to see such great racing going on in the other divisions! :)

It's funny, I don't think running a 51.3 sector time is the be all and end all of a great lap. One of my previous laps was a 51.310 and thought I had done a great job of the final sector, how wrong I was, I then posted with a sector time of 51.474 and beat my time by a tenth. Running 51.3s again now but know I have left a tenth or 2 in the final sector. The last corner is crucial to get right, along with great exit from left turn at the end of T2.

Forget the top 3 on the leaderboard, I think there are going to be a few surprises when we see the results. Even for those who are running 51.4s or low 5s, it's amazing how much time there is to gain in final sector

Yeah its a bit of a mysterious sector, the last corner anyway, you can brake late and sacrifice mid corner speed, or you can brake and glide mid corner, maintaining 90+km/h, both methods achieve similar results. The latter being slightly more difficult to time.

New tweak to the tune. Camber is now 1.5/ 1.7 and rear toe is zero, the front is still -.20. I also went back to 5/6 on brake bias.

This is gonna be superclose dude, the long T3 will be the judge this week :D

Thanks for the comment 👍 As for my T3, if I make a podium or just miss by .001 I'm not to concerned :) I am very happy with the final result, & am pleased that I showed that I could take it up to those 🤬 Aliens

Fantastic splits you have there good job:tup:

Now how about the aliens let us fight it out on our own for one week, or at least give them their very own leaderboards :sly:

This will be as good as it gets for me this week. But I knew that going in.

T1: 22.874
T2: 28.985

Well, I had 2 hours on this before slumping off with a disgruntled frown to mow the lawn. That should tell you all you need to know really.

I managed a 22.701 T1 - by FAR my best, I also managed to hit 51.600 once, but despite an average T3, I was still WELL over 2 tenths slower than my best. After 2 hours, my best overall time was almost precisely 2 tenths off. Not even close....

51.5 is about as much as I could possibly get to, but I'm now really doubtful that I can improve, so I'm submitting my time now & assuming that I've reached my limit. I will, of course, (Like you all will) run it several times more over this B/H weekend :)

Running 5/7 BB - ABS 1 & everything else is off. I run either 1 or 2 on Steering sensitivity, the difference is slight but with FWD cars I find you need a higher number, RWD I tend to use -2 or -1

Monaco GP + Indy 500 - please inspire me to achieve more speed, please!

Matt

I'm doing the same with my brakes, and thinking about the same on the steering. And I'm back to 2.2/1.7 for camber.
Watching Monaco now and hoping for the same thing!!! :)

Camber:
2.0/1.0 (Thanks Dan - couldn't decide on camber but this works well 👍)

Agreed, this is what has improved my times dramatically was on 1.7/0.0 and struggling. It's like a different car now on 2.0/1.0 , amazing! (Thanks Dan 👍)
Had 0.2 better than this lap only to see on review was dirty on the first corner :ouch: I wish the game would red clock it instead since it looks clean while in the car, only to be in tears later on.

Anyway, the below even though 0.2 slower at the line is more representative of my average.

22.768
28.843

Had another go at this:

Plato's suspension, Chuck's gearbox and Dan's camber/toe!

22.580
28.464
-------

My final splits for sure, first corner makes me wanna....:banghead:

Anyway, happy with my final time...good luck guys!👍

Submitted again!

If you think their good, wait till you see my submitted time  I was dumb founded for at least 30secs :)

Same with my submitted time, it was some .220 better than my previous best:tup: What setup did you use for your submitted effort?

@Zoky- Taking the good bits from 3 different setups, hehe, nice splits;) And I know what you mean, ditching it at the first corner, especially when your in a rythm, is disheartening, my best t1 was a .504 btw.

Spent another hour trying and couldn't get within a tenth of my best time, so I'll probably settle for my current posted lap. I've had quite a few low .7 and even a couple of high .6 at T1 but I can't even get close to my best T2 and final sector right now. My submitted time is already better than I expected to achieve though so it's all good.👍

Yeah I really don't like that....before I did my fastest clean lap I had many laps where I found out later that it was dirty in first corner, very iritating...:grumpy:...my best clean was .499!

T1: 23.075
T2: 29.425
Not 100% happy with the final corner in T3, but cant get it any better at the line.
Submitting with these times.
Good Luck All !!!
Cheers All !!!

T1: 22.877
T2: 29.082

going to spend some serious time tomorrow on this on. I've already gone well below what my goal was. I took a big chunk out of T3 today, I see more time in T2 and T3 that I can trim off. Not seeing anything below .8's in T1 though. I think Im waiting too long to brake.. I just tap the brake, drop to 5th and nail the gas..... and lean real hard to the right to transfer my body weight to the right side. :-)

Great, Dan runs a super fast split and now everyone thinks they can do it.:grumpy:

Well I suppose tomorrow I have a crack with Dan's gearing, and if that isn't working out I'll be submitting with what I have. I won't be bothering trying to improve with my current setup.

I've driven 400 miles so far, about a third of the way. I have one tenth to show for it, but I'll take it. I'm not sure of the exact number, but I know my t2 is within a couple of thousandths. My shoulder is complaining, but I'm not stopping.

Racing On!

New splits:

Sector 1: 22.593
Sector 2: 28.593

Got a low .5 second split and middle .5 first split before, but these splits are pretty close to my limit!
