If you do a 1'30 lap it feels like you're spending 1'20 of that time waiting for the car to turn in.

I made some improvement yesterday, sadly I blew the last sector but I still improved.

25.697
24.403
20.775

When I have sorted out the final sector I may be done, we'll see.:sly:

Retry the changing of password Process mate I think you should be fine as my problem has nothing to do with the PSN,it's just that the e-mail they supposedly sent me to my e-mail account is useless because MSN have deleted my e-mail and I don't know what to do :banghead:

Hi there, I had the exactly same problem, hotmail blocked the email I had associate with my main acount.

Solution, I call support and ask them to change the email. He has to be a email that has never been associate with other account, they will ask you the PS3 serial number and to named five friends from that account.
If all check all right, they will send you the email to reset the password.

It solve my problem in 2 hours...👍

I hope it helped:cheers:

Second run.

26.145
24.547
21.687

T3 needs alot of work.

Anybody else wandering if there equipment is going to make it through the week :sly:

I had a few runs earlier today and was finding it difficult to keep myself in check, I can see a great time (for me anyway) but was always getting the corner leading up to the corkscrew wrong when a car length or so ahead of my ghost :banghead: I just struggled getting the braking point right to maintain exit speed up to the corkscrew.

I'm sure Kev knows some of us often loose our cool and puts events up like this :sly:

Great combo Kev enjoying this one even though it can get so frustrating 👍
Give it another attempt later on, i'm a sucker for punishment :sly:

I ran a session last night and was not able to improve my overall time, but I was able to improve my consistency and learn more about all the sectors, which should help me with a better overall lap time.

I ran 2 or 3 laps and was pushing WAY too hard, trying to get to my prior night's pace right away. This track, and this combo in particular, is really about finding a rhythm. When frustration was getting the best of me so early in a session, I backed out, walked away for a bit, and came back.

My approach when I sat down again was to take it slow and steady, work on smoothness, work on holding the line, and get into a rhythm. My goal was not to get up to pace right away, but to improve on my last time every lap. In other words, I had a slow and steady lap on lap 1, and my goal on lap 2 was only to improve on that time. Lap 3 goal was to beat lap 2. And so on.

I managed to do that up through 9 laps, and at that point was back to within 0.5 of my time from the night before. More importantly, it REALLY helped me to learn how to gain time in each sector. If I was behind at T1, I was pushing in T2 to find a way to make it up. I knew which sector was slow from my prior fastest, and worked to exploit it.

I've never really taken that exact approach when running a combo, but it helped me to settle in and not worry that I was not back up to pace, or even that I might not make an improvement in the session. It was more about the reps, learning more about the combo, learning more about car control, and building a foundation so I could consistently perform at a higher level, increasing my chances of improving my time.

Well said EDK, well said indeed. Especially with this car If you try and overdrive your just going to understeer or oversteer wildly off the track, he who drives smoothly shall be rewarded;)

How is everyone finding tyre wear?

Is this a "restart every lap" job, or can the car easily go for 20/30 laps? I know it's probably a placebo but I often get fast laps on lap 1.

I think Kevin is right about needing to find a rhythm - which is really why I want to run lots of laps rather than restart every time...but it just seems to lack grip.

@ EDK, I love your depiction on "sneaking up on speed" I always waite for a while to climb into the zone, it just seems to last longer that way :)

Your post said this at first, so I made an edit for you.

@ EDK, I love

Was getting scared about what you might have meant. :scared: Was hoping you were going to say, "your car", "this combo", whatever.

I found your entire post by looking at the edit history. ;)

New splits

T1 25.570
T2 24.271
T3 20.486

I really need to find the braking point for the corkscrew, it's ruining my T3 and lap time. I don't think I have braked right for this turn on any of my good runs.

Anyone have a good technique to actually exit the corkscrew, I find if you hit the dip on exit it bogs me down. Anyone have any ideas

T1: 25.792
T2: 24.505
T3: 20.692

Running quite consistent around these splits, not much better than my last posted but a big improvement at the line. Anytime I'm faster that this I find ways to ruin it. It's like I see blue numbers and my brain goes "I'm great at this, I don't need to brake for this here corner!"... If we could put nicknames on our cars I would put Mr. Choke. :)

Slight improvement

T1 25.577
T2 24.205
T3 20.467

I just don't think I am going to sort out T3 all week, happy enough with 1 and 2 even though I have had slightly better splits in these, but T3 is my lap killer.

Not really sure what I can do at the moment. I seem to have hit a :banghead: Cant even get within .2 of my ghost anymore :ouch:

Ofcourse I'll get around to answering your question;)
Thank you Dan! Sorry I haven't responded sooner. I posted my question last night before going to bed, just got home, and I am headed out the door again... But I wanted to at least stop in and say Thank you.

From looking at your right up, I think we are thinking of a lot of the same ideas for the various turns on this track. I have never looked at the speeds during the corners as you have mentioned. I will change the speedometer to metric when I next fire up GT5 and try out your speeds. I am thinking I am probably weak mid corner, and this exercise will hopefully help with that.

thanks for your question redreevos!

Are you serious? Did you really just thank me for all that awesome information that you typed up. Really great stuff Dan!👍👍

I'd like to 2nd (or 3rd) the thanks to Dan for that writeup.
I wanted to read it last night when I saw it but the laptop batteries were fading.

Think I'll change to metric too, tired of trying to do * or / by 1.609344 in my head. :dunce:

EDIT: Some new DS3 | BB 5/10 | ABS 1 | AS Strong splits:

26.306
24.992
21.184

Not what I was hoping for, but it's all I got, for now.

I am starting to make some sense of this, but as usual, consistency is probably something that shows up not before monday night, if ever. My best lap is almost a second worse than best sectors added. :boggled:

Strangely, the corkskrew does not bother me as much as several other corners. My absolutely non-scientific approach is from the left, start braking (in a straight line) a few car lengths before the top, stay mostly to the right, finish braking and turn in, do not go too much over the curb. Trailbrake a little maybe, but it is vital that the car is in balance at the crest.

Right before the crest I floor the throttle briefly to gain some speed, then release it and just roll downhill and right, much easier to survive it that way. The rear still wants to throw itself to the left, but easy on the throttle and it is controllable.

Just my two cents...

Lap submitted with splits on the board. Inlaws are flying in from Germany and I don't thinnk I'll have seat time the next two weeks. Good luck everyone.

I hate it, I hate it, I hate it, I hate it, I hate it. :ouch:
:banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:

Why does this car insist on losing grip, even though I am barely turning the wheel :( I have blown a .5 lead time & time again. It makes me :grumpy:

These will have to do then. Opps, I used pit exit to get that 22.xxx :P

T1: 25.749
T2: 24.273
T3: 20.511

:)
