I hate it, I hate it, I hate it, I hate it, I hate it. :ouch:
:banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:

Why does this car insist on losing grip, even though I am barely turning the wheel :( I have blown a .5 lead time & time again. It makes me :grumpy:
I'm miles off your pace but I recognize the feeling. I think the last two weeks have blinded me with speed and I completely forgot how to drive slowly. I read MarkWebbers description of his lap over and over and tried to nail every corner and beat every split all the time. I only did 3 sessions but I probably had more restarts than laps during those and not much to show for it...

Then I read EDK's post about taking it slow and I decided to just drive without trying to do my "best lap ever", and suddenly I started to enjoy it much more. First round I did 30 full laps without any crashes or spins and best of all I wasn't angry! :) A few red and dirty laps, sure, and most laps where slower than my best time, but around lap 20 I got a new best without really pushing hard to get it. At 30 I hit one of he markers before turn 1, so I restarted to put it back (speaking of, are we required to do this if we knock one of the moveable objects away?) and took a short break for a sandwich. Then I did another 20 laps without restarts, and beat my best lap again 2 times. As I mentioned above I still choked a couple of times when I was way ahead of my ghost but because I was actually in a good rythm and mood it didn't really bother me like it used to.

I was about to give up and submit my crappy splits two days ago but now I actually want to give it a few more tries so I will try to make some time this weekend. 👍 I probably won't be able to shave more than maybe a tenth per split, but that's ok - I'll save my best for a week that suits me better. :sly:

Some improvememt:
T1: 25.845
T2: 24.658
T3: 20.780

Tailhappy car on crappy tyres is somewhat challenging around here.

Hopefully have another go at this today and try and work out where I am loosing time in T3 to the big guns :sly:

Started getting .7s in T1, which is awesome.

Saw a 50.2 go up, which was nice - no conversion, but I'm starting to understand the use of 1st gear on the corkscrew and first turn (as well as final turn) which is helping me slow and turn in a lot better.

Running 20 laps at a time and starting off slow does help a huge amount. Recommend it over constant restarting! I also find that drifting the wheels off the thing for a few laps gives me a good feel for how to NOT do it and keep it fast & smooth in the laps that come afterwards.

Pretty awesome combo, love it 👍

Well, that's me for this week. Managed to hit my target & then some. Might give it 1 more shot during the weekend, but at present, submitting with splits on the board.

Good luck everyone. 👍

Well said EDK, well said indeed. Especially with this car If you try and overdrive your just going to understeer or oversteer wildly off the track, he who drives smoothly shall be rewarded;)

Driving as smooth as I can, obviously not as smooth as you :sly: There is at least a couple of tenths to take off in T3, but I think the exit of the corkscrew is the main problem for me. Upon exit of this corner the car seems to bog down because of the dip in the track. Is it better to take a wide exit for this turn and completely abandon the racing line, or is it down to throttle imput through that little dip

First crack at Kevin's combo.
Watching the replay it looks like I missed the inside corners in most of T1 and T3.
Hope to have another crack at it.
I also hope Kevin can get his car on Laguna to see how reality treats this combo.

25.928
24.369
21.172

I can't check in here often, is anybody else loosing the #3 brake marker just before the last turn?
It just disapears, to nowhere.

Are you coasting until you clear the dip?

My best runs through there start all the way out left, to the point that I've taken out the marker signs at times. I TRY to point the right wheels to the left side rumble, but normally have a little too much speed to make that part. Once over the crest, I gradually feed throttle back in, up to maybe 75%, until I can get past the rumble on the right and let the suspension settle again, then mash until the downshift for the next turn.

I know my T3 is terrible on the board, but I've picked up quite a bit there the last couple nights. Now just need to get a good last sector tied to it, like I have on my best total lap.

EDIT : Another thought I had. I think you use auto transmission? Not being able to control when the car goes into 1st, and when it goes back up into 2nd is going to hinder you in this turn, and for this combo in general.

It just disapears, to nowhere.

It goes away as soon as you back out of your first session and come back in. It's there on lap 1, and then gone after that.

If you just stay in the session, it stays in place. You can even hit the quick reset button in the pause menu, and it's fine, it's backing out to the menu area to save or view your replay, adjust settings, etc. that makes is disappear.

I've found that when I start a new session, then immediately brake to 0 - to fiddle with BB - the brake board (#3) literally takes off, like it's been hit with a 5 iron. It flies off into the barriers or whatever is on the outer edge of the track model. Really quite odd!

Anyone crossed the line on this combo and been given a red clocked -99.59.59.59 as a time gap?! I had that one too.

I think it's the Challenger - it's a bit mental, it messes with the games chi :D

I haven't had that on this combo yet. I have had it before though so it isn't unique to this week. It's just another odd bug like all the others.:sly:

No I have always driven in manual, I will give your advice a go. What I have been doing over the dip is keeping a bit of throttle on, but as soon as I hit the dip this is when I feel the car bog down. I will see what it is like coasting over the dip without applying any throttle and hope I come up with some results when I have another go later on.

Thanks for the help Kev 👍

EDIT: Whew, correct time!!!

I think I've reached my limit, T3 isn't good but I can't get a full lap in with a better T3.

The limit here is carrying as much speed as possible, line is irrelevant, but it's obviously a bonus If you can get the car over to the right as quick as possi ble in prep for the left, carrying 92, 93km/h is an ideal speed, slight moderation of the throttle.

I forgot to thank you, Dan, for the 3/5 BB setting and your very thorough write-up posted earlier. 👍

T1: 26.069
T2: 24.636
T3: 20.932

What a handful this car is.... I've found that patience is the key.... I just don't have any....

Thanks Dan, I will try and use your info as best I can and hopefully come up with a better T3 👍

I'm on the verge of getting a good time in this car - but the competition might be over by the time that happens... Threw away a 49.9 at T2 last night :ouch: No better splits to report for a full lap, but the potential is there!

I most likely will submit with what I have, I'm not going to have much more time to devote before the deadline.

EDIT: In fact, I have submitted. :)

Gained a tenth tonight twice. Both laps dirty.... Had 50.115 too on another blown lap. Failing bad on conversion!

All you guys submitting so early makes me long for the days of the one submission requirement. :mischievous:

Its a brow beater is this... I'm not really feeling the love yet. :)

All I can say is... Kev, you are a very brave man for owning one of these cars. :P Even more so if you ever drive it at Laguna Seca...or any race track for that matter. :nervous:

Lost the plot in T2 now but getting T1 together a bit better:

25.583
24.417
20.516

Looking for at least another 0.4 off the lap I reckon. No submission from me yet... running right up to the deadline as usual. :scared:

Mega T1 by the way Dan (Diamond) - you are starting to have a breakthrough methinks. 👍

Managed a faster time earlier tonight.

T1: 25.966
T2: 24.576
T3: 20.865

Friday night is my drinking night so times are going downhill now but while well above UK drink drive limit I got within .05 of my fastest time. Does this mean I should be allowed to drink and drive or do I need to get near the aliens to be allowed this exemption. This could become a worldwide test if you can complete Laguna Seca in a set time your exempt from drink driving rules(only joking), I was surprised to come as close to my times, regularly managed to be .25 faster in the first secter but kept losing it in the second. Hopefully I can convert this to a better time when i'm sober.
