If I can get a 'final word' on this I'd highly appreciate it.

From your latest photos, the first picture gives the clearest view of the limits of the asphalt outside the white edge line -- the asphalt appears slightly more reflective. Both of your tires are clearly within bounds. Also the simultaneous shots against the wall clearly show you are not touching. Nice job threading the needle! 👍

Another half hour go, heres my latest. Still time to make.

T1: 15.845
T2: 25.118
T3: 20.933

Had a Low 15.7xx before, and other better splits. T2 wasn't that great.

I'm only D3, so I'd wait for better drivers advice, but I found that a slower first turn, makes for a faster set of the following 3. I sacrifice a little bit on the very first left hander, which allows me to get 'set' for the right hander, downhill, uphill into the left. The tunnel is the trickiest part of Sector 1 in my opinion. Also, I burp the gas pedal a tiny bit, to force the trany to stay in 5th downhill, because it kills me every time it shifts into 6th.

My replay is extremely odd when watched, because I actually drifted into the tunnel and somehow it worked to my benefit. I'm doing a 4 wheel slide, triggered by my right rear tire bouncing off the curb just before the tunnel. That's the picture I should snag!

Are you running with AT?

I find running 5th overall from the start to tunnel entry seems to be a sweet spot, trying to maintain 200+ until the tunnel starts.

Also, shifting it into 6th on the long straight after tunnel just before the final "dip" before the last hill seems to give it 3-4 km/h more than keeping it in 5th. :)

Also, agree on getting the slide into tunnel, it seems to help on turning the car without losing too much speed, oddly enough :)

Just spent about half an hour on practicing sector one. And thanks to some tutelage I have got it down to a 15.8** with more to work on.

I love WRS how the Div 1 boys will help you to get better even though you could one day compete against them. Not many other competitions that would do that.

Thanks heaps Small_fryz.

No problem mate 👍 Glad to see you were able to translate it to the time sheet!!

I finally drove a solid lap. Goal hit  from now on any extra tenths is a bonus!

15.669
25.005
20.768

No Idea how guys are doing those 24.7 / 24.8 Middle sectors!!
I can see the 15.5 T1's and im sure I can find another .1 in that T2 - T3, but no clue about that middle sector!!

Anybody able to post up a quick guide?

T1: 15.981
T2: 25.519
T3: 21.109

Still lots in it I imagine. Fun combo. :D

So what is the point of this?? Is this qualifying round for an actual online race?? Or are people just competing with lap times.....

There's no real point here.. just pointless competition between GTP members.

Hopefully the qualifier will be reopened soon so I can join the pointlessness. 👍

Most of the year is taken up by time trials, hot laps and handicap events, plus event races laid on by the OLR team, with an annual peace de la resistance inter divisional race, that the admin team organise for us all to enjoy, which quit often spands a number of weeks.

Hope that answers your question of “So what is the point of this” 👍

Phillip.

It's a saved replay, so no data logger, but in the replay there's no drop in speed, no sparks, and upon scrutiny I can't find a shot of it touching the wall either.

If I can get a 'final word' on this I'd highly appreciate it.

Yup, only data logger in best lap replays.

For me, that looks clean, but it's only a small part of confirming whether you touched the wall or not. I've done laps where I'm inside of the white line, but not touching the wall, there's little room for error.

Turn your speakers up, turn the music off and look at your speedo. A wall hit will produce either or both.

If still in doubt, consider it dirty. But if you can't hear a wall touch and you don't see your speedo drop or stop moving at the same rate, then it probably is clean.

One fast Finn is more than enough thank you!

A saved replay, rather than a saved ghost replay, is not a valid form of verification for the week anyhow. So if that's all you have, you need to make a new run.

That's your final word.

I had a good session last night but each time I put a good lap in I either clipped a wall or cut a corner. This culminated in knocking .7s off my previous best but I clipped the wall coming out of the turn before the T3 split. I know I hit the wall because there was a noise and judder on the DS3 but when I checked the replay there was no conclusive evidence.

Anyway, I had another go this morning and crushed that time despite being out of control going into the first tunnel.

New splits
T1: 16.372
T2: 26.183
T3: 21.275

I could not say if it's the case here, but a lot of the walls in GT are invisible walls, where you can still show space, but also make contact. That's why we state in the rules that you can't make contact with walls or objects, whether visible or invisible.

Again, I'll reiterate. The rules specifically state that you need to save your best lap replay. This is as much a courtesy to replay checkers so they don't have to scan through all the other laps as it is a means of being sure we can use the logger when needed. Wall touches are not the only thing we'll be using the logger for this week, so I have to say -

Anyone who turns in a full replay, not a ghost/best lap replay, will be DQ'd.

@ SmallFryz

The best answer to your rquest about T2 would be: always tell your self that the track is one long turn and that you have to get your speed on the exit. So always think like if the next turn is more important...

Yesterday I saw a 1'00.934 T3 but it was dirty. If I can manage it back, I will submit.

...insane T3 time...
Holy Crap!

Small improvement:

T1: 15.903
T2: 25.200
T3: 20.946

T2 is my weakest sector by far and that was over a 1/10th slower than my previous splits so definitely have more speed in me... still not consistent enough. :nervous: My best T1 so far was 15.663 but, as usual, ended up in the wall after turn 5 (top of the hill after the first tunnel).

Well I'm going to have to submit my time now, not really happy with it but I guess the wheel has it's uses, and the final 2 sectors aren't it lol

T1: 16.244
T2: 25.305
T3: 21.301 (3 tenths slower than before :( )

(3 tenths slower than before :( )

Yep - consistency is a big problem on a circuit like this... small mistakes cost huge ammounts of time (relatively speaking). If I strung all my best sectors together it'd be quite a competitive lap. That's a mighty huge IF...

New splits anyway:

T1: 15.946
T2: 24.989
T3: 20.996

Getting there.. well somewhere anyway... :) T1 is 3 tenths off my best, T2 and T3 pretty much the best I've done yet but still loads of time to find... :sly:

Ive just had a quick look up and down the split times for this week so far!

there is some amazing split times being put in by the D1 boys!!! 👍

And am also loving how close it is between the top DS3 users. I feel that there is going to be some stiff competition between us with the DS3 :)

T1: 17.152
t2: 26.349
t3: 22.129

I've been using my DS3. Can't wait to use my DFGT again.

First splits. Need to work on my T1, way too inconsistent.

T1: 16.311
T2: 25.182
T3: 21.269

I just ran a lap that was five thousandths slower than my best, but T2 was eight tenths slower than the best lap slit. Soon I'm going to bust an awesome lap, just a matter of time.

That makes your fastest second sector faster than the fastest guy here. :odd:

(Note to self - over-use of "fast" and its derivations)

I think i've reached my limit for this week apart from maybe a tiny bit better S1 (I have seen 15.6s)

I just see it as a pipe dream me ever doing as good as a S2 and S3 as I have already done lol I have watched the replay over and over and still have no idea how I did it :S
