Carlos Fandango
Jim,

Once I've run a track for 10 or 15 mins, I start recording/saving my laps and recording the splits. I only make a note of clean laps, and laps where I've either gone quicker over the whole lap or quicker to the leaderboard split. Over the course of a week's event, I'll usually have 10 to 15 laps noted like this. I then start looking at what the theoretical best lap would be if I took the best of each sector and added them together.

This typically then forms my goal time, and I'll usually get within 1 to 2 tenths of this by the end of the event.

+1. My method also, only my goal always ends up slower than Carlos'.

Wouldn't it be nice if gt5 would save lap splits for a session and allow you to view the table with replay... And an option for it to "say" your split so you don't have to look up.

T1: 23.405
T2: 28.926

I have to take 1 step down the splits leaderboard. Is this an omen? We will see.:)

Its the first time in a very long time I was behind my ghost at T2(altho I turn him off and just read the time difference at checkpoints)and I crossed the line ahead of him. A new personal best T3.

Well if you cant get to the T2 checkpoint any quicker you got to do something to run a lower OT.

Now I know for sure I can still possibly go lower. 👍

I hope I do because I just dont like how this lap looks thru so many corners. hahaha

Finally got some better splits and a much better overall time.

T1: 23.614
T2: 29.036

I'm about .15 away from my goal.
I definitely see where I lost it on my fastest lap, it's just a matter of linking it all together...in the same run.

Splits are a little bit worse, but a much better overall time and beat my goal by .1XX.

T1: 23.675
T2: 29.068

I've been giving this time trial a go with a view to joining the GTP and the Weekly Race Series and to see how I'd shape up with you lot for competition. From my first splits I can see that I'm a long way off...

T1: 25.398
T2: 30.166

...and that took me about 30 laps split across five seperate sessions. Room for improvement I think?

A bit pot luck at the moment in that first chicane, anywhere from 23.3xx to 23.7xx. Random splits for T1, T2 a bit more stable with 28.8xx-28.9xx. T3 and T4 seem to be where lots of time can be made up. T4 the exit of the tunnel needs to be spot on to get a good run to the line. Many times I have been up on my ghost by 0.2 on entry to the tunnel only to see him fly by me after the exit of that tunnel.

BB 0/10 , ABS 1 everything off.

23.455
28.971

Submitting with what's on the board. Understeer is driving me mad.

Hi guy's this is my first week as a WRS member and i am Having trouble submitting my time. When I send fetchbot a pm I put GTP_WRS week 27 submission as the title, then in the main message I put the first two split times, then my final lap time like this Time: 0'23.585 Time:0'29.396 final lap time:#'##.### and fetchbot replies with invalid subject, can anyone tell me where I am going wrong

Welcome to the WRS Madbeater.
You only need to put the final time. No splits.
So you'll submit:

Time: x'xx.xxxx

And that's all 👍

Only post your t1 and t2 splits here. Send only complete lap time to fetch in the PM. See format on OP.

Sorry about previous post. Been away for a while, couldn't remember my username and password.

This combo is playing tricks on me :dopey:

T1 23.434
T2 28.756

Once again only managed to take less than half a tenth off my overall time, despite being 3 tenths faster to T2. There's a couple more tenths out there for me but really struggling to get them, hopefully manage to find them before the deadline.

For the last couple of corners before the line, is everybody else putting 2 tires on the grass and 2 on the rumble for the fast left right?

T1 23.427
T2 28.721

Really starting to get the hang of T2 now, just need to brush up a little in T1 and T3, only another half a tenth off again, but it all counts :sly:

The chicane is eating my brain one neuron at a time....

23.339
28.802

Looking for 0.3 on the lap, most of it in sector 3. In reality, probably another 0.1 - only nailed a couple of 23.3 T1s and its just luck rather than good judgement or skill. I'm going to try switching off my targeting computer and using the Force.

Pretty much thats what I do and just try to stay smooth which is sometimes alot harder than it should be when you know for sure you got to T3 quicker than ever and you can loose a tenth for no good reason.

I dont know, Mark Webbers detailed how to said he didnt touch any apex rumbles but in just T1 and the beggining of T2 if I understood it correctly...seems wrong to me.

Submitting with the posted splits, think T3 is ok (but then I thought that last week as well). Will be away from the PS3 and in Melbourne for most of this week so see you all next weekend 👍

T1: 23.654
T2: 28.873

Finally getting the hang of T3 & 4, so only a marginal gain in splits, but .500+ off my best lap.
Switched the car colour to "Shark Grey" seeing as everytime I have a full car lead over my ghost, it continues to stalk me, quite ominously, and then catches up for the kill - everytime :scared:

Thats hilarious.:)

Edit: I looked at your position on the board and I now understand just why. You super smoked T2. Nice job. Yeah I once had a ghost that took the first corner of T2 so awesome I could get there so far ahead and he would pass me before the exit of that corner. I quit racing that ghost and started a fresh one. Went alot lower after that. That one just made it seem impossible to ever run a lower OT.

AAAAAARRRGGGHHH :banghead:
I have seen a 23.1xx clean first sector only to stuff it in the wall on the exit of the long right onto the straight in the second sector!
Also seen a good couple of 23.4xx's only to be slower overall!!
Anyway updated splits of:

T1: 23.602
T2: 29.063

My fastest lap but not my fastest splits, wasn't too happy with the speed through the blind left after the second tunnel so may be able to find more...

Allright, since it was a FF car, I tried with the PAD and it turned out to be really fast!

T1: 23.255
T2: 28.767

Edit: Submitted my time even if T3 was not perfect, I can't go any faster.

Is the grey stuff at the end of the lap coming out of the tunnel track? its arguably rumble strip....or tarmac? OP says tarmac and rumble is track!? am confused cos that means it could be track on the chicane too. Ill be gutted and i think im going to be gutted cos im clutching at straws after demolishing my best and ran about an inch wide in t4....

I might not submit a time this week, after reviewing my replay, I noticed for a very brief moment my front wheel on the grey stuff on the second turn of the chicane, so that lap is scrap. I had another half hour yesterday and managed a personal best 23.3 T1 with a 28.9 T2 and beat my best lap by .4 seconds only to notice again a slight off in the first left corner of the chicane. I don't think I'll have any more time for this until the deadline.

Splits from friday:

T1: 23.215
T2: 29.038

Only one day left and I have barely just started :scared:
