Final splits: and no hassles about worrying whether i'm clean at the chicane.

T1: 26.966
T2: 43.669

Submitted.

This morning has been awesome, tested my close mates 997 GT3 Carrera Cup Car at Queensland Raceway, set myself a time there, beat it, then came home, had a bite to eat, sat down and set the time/splits within 30mins. Perfect Day.

New splits....having a great time through T1 and T3, but can still find some time through T2.

T1: 27.740
T2: 45.628

For anyone who can't master the handbrake (I couldn't) - I recommend downshifting to 1st, it REALLY engine brakes and you can use it to your advantage in the same way to get a slightly earlier exit, but watch the rev limiter cos the silly thing only does about 12mph in 1st!

27.439
44.732

First clean run, more focused on trying to keep it clean.
Seen some low 27,s and .3s in sector 2.

Hopefully i can get another crack at it over the weekend.👍

I am a couple of months away from my 30th birthday and have already started receding, by the end of the week I may have to invest in a wig lol. The amount of times i have been ahead of my ghost and watch it go by is so frustrating, surely by the end of the week I will get the time I can see.

Welcome to the asylum...... the main issue is that you become so engrossed by having the ghost behind you, you ultimately forget that you still have the last sector, or even two sectors to go...... and promptly overthink the sector and ruin the lap. I went on like that for i guess over half of the 4-5hrs i spent on this week before I had a break, sat back and didn't think about it.... then the times came off. Honestly, i'm no D1 Gold alien, but the best advice I can give, as passed onto me by my good mate GTP_JoshMuggo...... is to walk away for a day, forget about it and come back refreshed. Works for me everytime.

I am one of those people that if I can see a time a couple of tenths faster than what I have I have to get it while I have a good rhythm going.... I'm the stubborn type

Saturday will be my day of rest from it, if your theory works then maybe I will get the time I can see on sunday

I did a few laps yesterday afternoon while my 18 month boy crawled all over me and the chair I was sitting in. Even so I managed a few 26.9 T1s and 1'10.9 T2s so when the kids were asleep later in the evening and I could concentrate I had good hopes of setting a really good laptime. Suddenly I had serious problems getting within half a second of my best and even though I tried everything it just didn't work. Maybe I need the distraction to not overdrive. Stubbornness doesn't always help.

Maybe your right I have my little boy with me for the day tomorrow, I may try your technique :sly:

I'll be honest and admit that for me a good lap of this combo seems like blind luck. I thought I was getting a rhthym... turned out to be the equivalent of shooting a bullet through the same hole twice at a range of 2 miles.... in a 60 mph gusting cross-wind. My best lap (posted splits) was set in a 5 minute stint before dinner the other night...

So I may have seen my best already... then again I may shut my eyes for a few laps and use the Force. 👍

Good luck to you with that skywalker

Glad to be back in the WRS
With luck ill be able to have 3 hours every week, here are my splits after the 1st hour:
T1: 27.862
T2: 45.617

Nice splits, you have knocked me off the podium in my first ever WRS event :ouch:

You'd better get used to that where Brandon is concerned

Also remember, the final results do not always mirror the splits leaderboard. Never underestimate the importance of the last sector 👍

All the best

Very true about the last sector, very cunning way of getting people to run the time trial to death not knowing what peoples overall times are :sly:

Never underestimate the importance of the last sector 👍

Mine is like a pair of cheap, ill-fitting trousers....

Painful in some areas and looks ridiculous.

And no, hoky religions and ancient weapons are no replacement for a good blaster.

No new splits from me now! Am away now for the weekend at The Fast Show - car show here in the UK!

Have a good weekend everyone and good luck with those damned Walls!

At the moment I am trying to take people advise and taking a break from it for a while, I know I can get a couple of car lengths up as I ran wide on the first hairpin, but the problem isn't getting in front of it there, it's being able to stay in front through the chicane as I think I murdered it on my best lap. Hopefully I will eventually repeat it on my next attempt. :)

New splits:

T1: 0'27.333
T2: 0'45.094

T1: 0'27.545
T2: 0'44.726

I can't seem to go any faster !

0'27.610
0'45.359

I find the trick with AWD cars is to break earlier than you think and concentrate on exit speed. A tip for the second corner would be to keep a tight line, doing it this way you get a better run through turn 3 down to turn 4. That may save you a bit of time through the first sector, hope this helps :)
