Did not have the time (practise Monza) to run some decent laps anymore, only gave it 1/10th effort then what I usually do, don't think I will submit a time...

Finally had a proper crack at this tonight after some dabbling:

20.533
19.016
16.335

Definitely more left in T1 and 2 for me, but there's not much left in me. Tough work!

20.439
18.861
16.269

Choked a bit in sector 4, but then you would if across about 100 laps the quickest you saw was 55.7 and this split popped up!

Probably Definitely about it for me, but around .150 went missing in two of the T4 turns due to sheer panic. I've also had far quicker T1s, but the middle section was brutal and I won't repeat it in a hurry.

Decent splits Christina and Matt 👍. Might have to find time to come out to play tomorrow.

Cheers!

Now don't go beating me! ;)

Edit: Checked my replay and it's good, so I'm submitting.

Submitting with splits on board just don't feel like driving off the road trying to chase a few tenths. T4 wasn't too good so crossing my fingers :scared:

Not sure if I understand you correctly, but... usually you would (and common courtesy suggests you should) post the splits of your best effort / submitted lap even if they push you down the splits board.

Yeah you're right Tim, was too lazy to repost the splits. Will do it tonight. Sorry guys.

Now my splits are rubbish anyway, like every end of the week of the TTs :)
Drove 1500 km in total, every day at least 30 - 35 laps, but no could find that magic lap. Was so psyched to be in the top 10 for 4 - 5 days, but as usually when the deadline closes in you guys become faster and faster and I cannot improve anymore.
It's also strange that I seem to reach my limit quite fast, did my best effort on day 2 of driving this combo, from then on zero improvement, don't know why....

I seriously consider lowering my division, I cannot stand it being beaten by Div 3 and Div 4 drivers all day long :)
Sorry for the rant.

Don't get down on yourself Daniel. I also reach my limit quickly most of the time now. That wasn't the case when I started here, but that's because my first laps were pure rubbish. My submitted lap this week is from the 2nd day of this time trial. The important thing is to look back at your own history and ask if you've become a better/faster driver over your time here? My personal opinion is that you have improved a lot from what I've seen online. 👍

Also sometimes improvement comes in spurts and discoveries of new techniques or approaches or slows for a while on plateaus... maybe the WRS Academy can unlock something for you. 💡 In any case, after the steep learning curve at the beginning this driving thing seems to be a marathon/grind at times to improve. Look at the recent guys just promoted. Vagabond for example started quite a bit lower back in previous versions of the game. It's taken him a lot of time and effort to get to D1-Silver... Am I right Chris?

Since I havn't been able to even catch my ghost in the past two days and about 8 hrs of staring at my ghost showin me the way around the track I'm going to submit w/ my showz and gamble that my torq monster 4 speed will hopefully gain me a spot or two from an untouchable (at least for me it is ) 4th sector.

Just chillin and heading for Monico 👍 Good Luk All :)

Submitting my splits posted yesturday. Really learned alot about myself during this combo. If you want something bad enough and you dig deep into your inner soul, you can achieve the goals you set forth. Persistance, determination, and the will to succede will overcome any hard times you may encounter on your road to accomplishing your goals. Don't give up...ever. See you all at Monaco.

I don't have much right to speak in this combo. But you have a problem in only 1 sector and that is T2. If you can shave off .3xx there, you be on top of D3. The rest ain't that bad. i know it's much easier said then done. But losing it in one sector is better than losing it al over the track. Don't be so hard on yourself.

Like i said, i have an major problem as well. My spilts ain't that bad. But my theoretical best lap is almost .4xx of my best. I know it's not often that you will submit your theoretical best lap or even better. But .4xx of is a lot. I can life with .1xx or maybe .2xx in this combo. Yesterday i had good a good T2 and T3 with a average T1, so i had one sector to go and lost way to much there :ouch:

Gonna give it one more go tonight and hope for the best. With my current best lap i doubt if i submit. On the other hand i feel obligate to submit be cause i spend some time on it.

Very nice Matt. Can't wait for this to end so I don't fall back any farther.

This combo was quite addictive, but just as frustrating. I could get individual sectors down but stringing them together proved to be nearly impossible.

With the holidays, I didn't get the time invested in this combo that I wanted to. I didn't even get to full break-in distance. Good luck to everyone who submits.

Amen to that - My best lap is almost a tenth quicker than the next, which is a tenth quicker than the next. The others on my top 10 board are all really close - on a short(ish) lap I found that I was consistently good, but never very good or great across the whole lap. It's partly due to the car operating at it's best in a very narrow threshold for performance & handling, but also the track, which fully exploits the car and it's unforgiving nature if mishandled.

I hit 'miracle' splits, but not a 'miracle' lap - after seeing what happened with the Copen recently I'm not 2nd guessing anybody in the last sector and fully realise that I might lose places!

This has been a brilliant combo though, lots of fun and a really big challenge to put up a good lap - I salute whoever came up with the idea - not sure I remember another WRS being such a 'tightrope walk'

Good luck to all in the results and to those still running, particularly the D2 guys who are no doubt gonna make me frown a bit later

It'd be a rather nice birthday present tomorrow to have a divisional win - for now it's time to relax and I'm off to play some Spartan Ops :)

Thanks Tim and Dennis for your kind words, it actually made me feel better :)

It's like just Mitch said: never give up ... ever
and by the way Mitch, I'm so impressed by your will power to succeded it really inspires me 👍

I probably just have to hang on to this, sometimes I forget that I have my wheel for not too long and this is the first serious racing that I've ever done. It's just sometimes it gets hard, as all of you know.
Good luck to everyone who submitted and I hope to see you all tomorrow for the online practice :gtpflag:

Splits from best effort, not good at all, but quite fast T4:

20.707
19.208
16.624

Don't be too hard on yourself, as long as you feel you gave it everything even if your best splits say you left a bit on the track. For me I didn't like this track at all it just didn't suit my driving style but I did it because its often the difficult tracks that make you better. So even if I get a positive this week as long as I learned something I consider it a good week.

... Am I right Chris?

Spot on. 👍

Here's my first ever WRS week result (GT5P):

http://wrs.gtplanet.net/GT5P/results/7/

(Hint - I'm 20th out of 26 running the D3 Bronze colours :P)

I remember thinking at the time, "But I just can't go any faster!. How can I be over 7 seconds off the pace on a track this short?!" :)

The best advice I can give at this point is to calm it all down, take a patient methodical approach to each bend and corner, and slowly sew the lap together. Sometimes its best for the first few days to run without a ghost and just concentrate on your braking, turn in, and throttle application. When it all starts to flow, then flick the ghost on to see where you can gain or lose time in each corner/sector. In each new session, don't load your previous best ghost - start from scratch so you're not trying to get up to speed on the first lap but instead, ease yourself back in at a comfortable pace. Run longer sessions, regardless of mistakes and work on consistency rather than outright pace. Then stop, take a breather, then start again and push it as hard as you can. You'll crash, spin, go wide, smoke the tyres etc... then back it off a bit and find that rhythm again and I guarantee, you will already be going faster than you expected. :)

I seriously consider lowering my division....
This is the key though - you qualified in D2 Silver because you are capable of that pace... and on the 'ring no less! I qualified in D2 Bronze for GT5 and I was pretty pleased with that at the time. ;)

I have submitted, no time to sit down again. My T4 sucks!

Al

 mate mine too :grumpy:

Lost well over .2xx there :grumpy::banghead::banghead::grumpy:

Submitted with this splits. Saw T1 .1xx faster and T2 abit faster T3 one of my best. So i've got somthing to cheer about :dunce:

20.440
18.882
16.381

Good luck everybody

Thanks Chris for the good advice, fortunatly I have already a similiar aproach. Just need to hang in there.

And by the way: when are you racing with us? Looking forward to see you on track.

Checked my replay and it's good, so I'm submitting.
Great effort Matt. 👍 I think I can safely say you have me beaten with those splits unless your T4 is terrible. Mine was 'safe' but not too quick I don't think. I suspect I will be lucky if I can hold on for a D2 podium in fact. Good luck everyone.

Maybe this Wednesday... I've been pretty busy recently but given the weather, I think I'll be staying at home this week. Not sure yet though.

Here's my split times:

20.670
18.878
16.540

I'm annoyed because I know that I could have improved, particularly in the first sector, but I kept messing up on some part of the lap.

I need to turn that ghost off, it is a huge distraction.

Knocked a little off, submitting with these splits.

20.784
19.415
19.723

Submitting with splits on board just don't feel like driving off the road trying to chase a few tenths. T4 wasn't too good so crossing my fingers :scared:

Good enough for D3 gold 👍 Congrats! I'm lucky to have staid on the podium with my horrible T4.
