GTP_WRS-Online : Academy/D-League Racing - Suspended Until GT7

Bart and James, thanks for signing up as instructor đź‘Ť

The main lounge (GTP_3D3Racing) is going to be reserved for rookie racing practice from 19:00 GMT through 21:00 GMT after which it will be reserved for Greatest Hits practice.

If you want to practice for the rookie race outside of that window you can use one of the alternate 3d3 lounges or your own lounge if you want to exchange FR with others that want to join.

EDIT: Scratch that. Rookies can keep the main lounge for as long as you need it... I'll tell the Greatest Hits Participants to use the alternate lounges.

Tim, don't hold the main lounge just for me. I can always use my own. I'm not sure when I'll be off work for sure.

Scott

That's alright... we need some structure given there are 4 greatest hits events. It's probably easiest just to segment out the lounges. Main for academy. A&B for greatest hits. Should be a busy day!

10 drivers registrations for today đź‘Ť

Some new faces on the grid,

cool,

Welcome to the GTP_WRS-Online Academy/Rookie Racing.

Qualification Procedures

  • Type: Live Online Single Stint - No pits
  • Length: Single out-lap and 2 timed hot-laps
  • Groups: Group qualifying will be used if the grid size is large enough to warrant in order to avoid traffic during qualification. The basic rule of thumb is all drivers will qualify at the same time if the track can handle a ten second gap between drivers. Drafting is not allowed during qualification and drivers should establish sufficient gaps during their out lap.
  • Notes: Drivers not in the lounge by the time the first driver has entered the track after reset will not be allowed to qualify. They are welcome to join the race, but will start at the back of the grid. Standard Clean OLR Rules Apply:

  • Unless otherwise specified, all rules from the original WRS event apply.
  • All Hard Surfaces are considered Track Surface. This includes tarmac, red and white rumbles, and concrete. You are expected to drive clean at all times as if you are racing in the WRS. All participants are required to follow the GTPlanet Online Racing Rules & Guidelines.
  • 3D3 Race Stewards (who are taking part in race, but will review the replay) reserve the right to boot or invalidate the result of any driver from the Race Room for driving offensively. If you ignore any warnings from the stewards and are booted from the race room, you will not be allowed to participate in future 3D3 events.
  • 2 wheels on (or vertically in line with) the track at all times
  • Rumble/ripple strips are part of the track
  • Runoff areas are not part of the track
  • Limit your contact with walls or objects, visible or invisible
  • No hybrids
  • No cheating of any kind
  • Nothing that goes against the spirit of the rules
  • Passing and Blocking: Aggressive blocking is not permitted, but the driver in front has the right to choose his/her line and braking point and drivers behind should respect that line. Be especially careful when you are on older tires than the competition as the speed difference may be significant. These events are "for fun" so just play nice and take a conservative rather than an aggressive approach when possible.

Formation Lap

Credit to GTP_Oink

  • A steward will exit track, view the live timing monitor and announce the order after qualification while all drivers remain on track.
  • All drivers should exit track after the order is announced and enter the pits. When all drivers are in the pits a steward will start the race.
  • After the system places you on the grid drivers should proceed into stagger formation in order.
  • Pole sitter will choose his/her preferred side of the track.
  • There should be no overlap between cars in the staggered formation.
  • Speed limit on formation lap is 62 mph / 100 km/h and pole sitter should maintain this speed (or less) to keep pack together, in particular in the final sector.
  • Weaving or other tire warming procedures are NOT allowed during the formation lap.
  • Pole sitter will exit the last corner and take care to give enough time to allow all cars behind to safely exit the final corner.
  • Start marker for Spa-francorchamps is the start/finish line.
  • The pole sitter should start the race by accelerating to race pace at the identified start marker (track specific and may or may not be the start/finish line).
  • All other drivers should accelerate after the driver in front of you does so.
  • No passing is allowed before the start marker.
  • Be cautious and courteous in the first turn. Dive bombing will be penalized and will not be tolerated.

How to set up RA Functions

Finding the RA functions and map them on the controller or wheel can be hard, till now.

Good Luck, OLR Team:gtplanet:

One advise for this race:

Have patience,do not overtake when it is not possible , have respect for other racers on track.

And most important : Have Fun!

And most important : Have Fun!

:D:tup:.

Man, I've completely forgotten about breaking in today's car :ouch:... And I won't be home until 5:45 PM (GMT) tonight, which clearly, isn't enough time to break it in. Does anybody have a spare one, broken in, that I can borrow :indiff:? - Please...

Did not get the chance to break in, because of this afternoon's race, well i'll take it like it comes ;)

I wont be making it today, dang it. Had something come up last minute. I was looking forward to getting some schooling from Twissy, I went in to the lounge today and watched him carve it up. Hopefully next time. Have a good weekend one and all!!

That would be very nice of you, shall i send you mine then ?

Nah don't worry, i'll buy a new one. I'm even not sure to be able to join the room anyway, (check my % attendance...)

Friend request sent. Accept quick plz, i gotta go soon

oops was setting up the room, guess i am a bit late now, sorry litchi

I don't think I'll be entering anymore Academy races. Too much bumping and crowding to get by another car which results in running someone off the track just to get ahead!!

We already told the one who run you off, that patience and being carefull is very important, as we do not want others people race to be ruined. So you are more then right to be upset, we will check the replay, i am sorry you left, and i really hope to see you on track again with us gayle. I know it is demotivating especially as you know you where doing the right thing, just try to complete the race and it let us know, so we can check and take the proper measures if needed, just like we do in other WRS events and as is done in RL. I am proud to have you in my series Gayle, and you know i have a lot of respect for you, would be a shame not to see you with us anymore....

Wasn't sure in the Sprint after the bumping in turn 1, I pushed Stef a bit and he spun out. I tried to wait but I think it caused all kinds of problems behind me. It was just before Rouge so I think I may have affected everyone else's line by slowing.

Stef went by (and ended up winning) but I sat at the back where I forgot which button I had configured for reverse so sat still....forever, figuring it out. Duh me.

Still had fun. Firecracker, hope you change your mind. Good racing with you.

We're all still learning. This IS a Rookie league and it's purpose is to learn patience, technique, and proper driving etiquette. Everyone is genuinely trying to get better. Don't let a little bumping cause you to miss out on a lot of racing. Sometimes it's lag, sometimes it's just not being patient enough or driving agressively. As I said, it's a learning experience. If you don't race you can't learn and not winning or placing low in the rankings because you got wrecked isn't your fault or a reflection on your skill. You just dust yourself off and put your foot down. At least give it another shot next week. :)

Sark

We're all sorry to see you "leave", Gayle. Sark is a clever man, and I too, suggest you to try next week! Winning, - or losing isn't everything, really. I hope to see you next week!

I had fun guys. - And, again, sorry for all the bumps!

See you all next week :gtpflag:.

This is not the first time that this has happened in the back of the pack. I look at it as intentional, not accidental. When I'm PO'd it would not benifit me or the others for me to continue the race.

Not sure what else I can say but I'll be as patient as I can to pass in the future.

Please note I was knocked off the track being hit in the rear twice on the first lap. I had to fight back. I thought I used the draft very well on the straight and went by on the S. Thought it was a pretty cool passing 3 cars clean in 2 turns, but guess not.

Bumping the rear can let someone know you want to pass. Slamming into the side of a car on a corner is not proper if it can be avoided, neither is passing on corner recommend.

I'm off the Soapbox! :)
