GTP_WRS-Online : Academy/D-League Racing - Suspended Until GT7

My bad, fixed the OP for both this thread and the Wed thread -- should be '08.

Had to re-register for this and the Wed event. Neither one went through for some reason yesterday. All good now though. :) Anyone else that registered yesterday might want to check and make sure it went through by looking at the roster.

There isn't a '10 version. The '08, is the one you're looking for, Scott 👍.

Thanks, I'll purchase it when I get home and get BOB to break it in for me...very busy couple of weeks at work. Really having a hard time to get even a little bit of seat time. :grumpy:

Google docs was having server problems all day yesterday... looks like it cleared up late last night. I couldn't even open the docs yesterday to check them... they just kept timing out and giving the error "resource not available".

I can send you one already broken in if you like. Save some time.

I won't look a gift car in the grill....if you get my drift. I'd love the gift. Thanks!!!

:)

If no one else needs/want it (I'm not really busy this week, so I can break one, or more, in myself), I would love to have it, Tim :D.

It's Tuning-prohibited, so all you can change is your car color, your wheels, and your brake balance and other R/A settings. :)

If you have any upgrades, it will disallow you from getting on-track.

EDIT: You weren't being dumb, the OP didn't explicitly say Tuning-prohibited, so I edited it to say so. 👍

Not an error. Its on the promotions thread. Congrats !

I just had the good foreboding and I chosen the good combos at the good moment ;)

Actually, it's a bit easier with less history.
What do you mean?

Well, I see that we ("veterans") have a handicap for the unofficial races with "rookies". As I know the WRS style, i guess it'll be a time handicap. Just want to know if a tire handicap would be possible instead of time?

As a veteran you can't participate in the feature race. But for the follow up sprints you can handicap any way you want including tires/power to be at an appropriate pace (based on the feature race you'll see what times are appropriate).

Also vets are welcome to pre-race practice/instruction and to give any hints and tips to the rookies in the lounge or even just in this thread. There are a few DS3 rookie drivers and I think we can safely say you're one of the fastest DS3 drivers around so I'm sure you have a few helpful tips. :sly:

oh great! I confess i'm used to drive this car on comfort softs, even comfort meds. SS tires got definitely too much grip for me. I have more fun with bad tires.

Well, for the tips, the 1st step is to give my DS3 setup to you Rookies. I'm a GT addict since GT1, 15 years ago, so I still use the old method for accel / brake.

X: Accelerate
Square: Brake
Circle: Handbrake
Triangle: Reverse
L1: Rear view
R1: Flash and toggle high/low beam
L2: Gear down
R2: Gear up
L3: (RA function) menu
R3: Ghost (for offline WRS TT)
Up: (RA function) Select +
Down: (RA function) Select -
Left: (RA function) Adjust -
Right: (RA function) Adjust +
Select: Change view.

I don't use L2/R2 as accelerate/brake because I'M NOT A XBOX PLAYER! :D. Plus I'm not stressed on my pad so I can gauge the pressure on X&Square smoothly.
I used automatic transmission from GT1 and this until may 2011 on GT5. Now it's not possible for me to drive automatic anymore.
I used ABS from GT1 and this until september 2012 on GT5.
Basically, my Brake Balance is 2/1 or 3/1 on road cars, 3/1 or 4/2 on race cars and 5/3 on LMP's.
For this event, I'll be 2/1.
But keep things easy, I won't speak ABS stuffs anymore ;)
My only advise for you is to keep your BB @ 5/5 or 5/4.

In my humble opinion, the best way to improve as quickly as possible is to run stock road cars on bad tires. This is what I did and what I still doing.

EDIT: And for them who really want to improve their driving skills, you can watch (and listen) this guide by Tidgney. Really really helpful 👍

Okay, I just suspected you were a crazy frenchman before, now I'm sure :D

Obviously, my DS3 skills were nowhere near yours before I wheeled up, but I felt that the best touch for Accel/brake was actually to be had on the right stick. I wound up using L2/R2 anyway for "left-finger braking", but you could set up with L2 as well as stick if you wanted. I moved gear shift to the right stick (looks l/r could be on L1/R1 that way, and I found it more comfortable than buttons). Buttons were nearly all RA related except handbrake, reverse, and rear view. Probably a personal thing; if you've got fine enough control, it obviously works. Humans - so adaptable.

Tidgney DIDN'T use the buttons either, but all the advice is good, I think (both yours and his videos) 👍 (Neither did Spud, warrior... Don't know about samurai?)

I agree with you on the L2 & R2. I've tried many different setups but this is a must for me to control Throttle & Brake. I wish I could find a comfy spot for shifting but till then I use auto. I also have trigger extenders, silicone stick covers and a silicone DS3 cover just to keep things nice and snug during long races.

If anybody wants any tips or assistance with lines or gears or anything related? hit me up 👍
