Thanks to Gooners for the instruction lap and the personal advices during practice.đź‘Ť
Twissy thanks for showing up as back up.:)

For me learning close racing been long time and many races. It's not comes easy. You make many mistakes, miscalculations, and so on. Most mistakes comes when you are not patient enough, your feelings get over you from something and you start driving aggressive and more mistakes comes...this i learned hard way many times. You spoil your race and often other too. Afterward you ashamed yourself.

My tip is maybe we can do normal quali and then we race whole race so that no passing and try to be as close as possible together. Maybe event start little slower and after couple laps we start get more speed lap by lap but still stay close together.

I must say, these wise words are correct. I feel really ashamed over the way I drove yesterday. That, is also my reason for apologizing. I believe everybody wants to improve, during the D-races - that's why it's been made. And, we're all humans, so mistakes will happen, and we'll learn from them. I know this time, I was the guilty part and I truely understand the anger pointed at me. I'm not trying to defend my driving, but I know, I'm not the most routined driver, and that I'm at big risk for making accidents (because of my lack of experience - maybe my age too).
Again, I deeply apologize for my driving

I think this'll be a good idea. I'm sure (I and) we'll learn something from that. Maybe it should be incorporated before the races?

Yeah two race. 1st with no passing and 2nd passing allowed. 2nd race maybe so that passing is not allowed in 1st lap so that everyone can have their car tires warmup.

Edit: Maybe even so that after each lap we change places. Leader goes last, 2nd goes 1st, 3rd goes 2nd, and so on. We race so many laps that everyone can be leader of the group.

Remember guys this is a "development" series. We are not handing out penalties at the moment but we have had discussions with drivers via PM's about our concerns with some of the incidents. According to the OLR rules it is best to deal with any issues you have after the race via PM's to either the driver in question or to the stewards. I would ask that you follow that procedure so that we don't get too negative here on the thread. We would appreciate it if the stewards could hear about your concerns ASAP so that we can do our job and try and correct the behaviour in the future.

As it has been said before me... We must learn to be patient and contact of any kind is not acceptable.

Looking forward to everyone driving and learning together at Monza next week!!!!

Al,

I couldn't agree more. I am not very fast right now and the D series allows me some "room" to grow.

As a newer driver, we will make mistakes and we should expect constructive criticism to help us improve. I am developing due to that open and "friendly" environment of our D series.

The onus is on us as development drivers to be critical of ourselves and fully own our mistakes so that no one else needs to call us on them. It comes across much better that way and others want to help you when they see you are trying to improve in a "clean" manner.

Sorry I missed the race as I was looking forward to being in the mix instead of playing the caboose like I did in the WRS races on Wed. ;-))

I'll see if there is any way I can jump in next week but its not looking good for the next couple weeks unless someone can help me figure out how to pack my PS3 and wheel in my jet.... :-0

Later gators!

Scott

If you want to come join me in the back. Learn a lot from back there. Plus when someone has a miss que you get someone to race against. :dopey: I used to be last all the time, now I'm like second or third to last. đź‘Ť I pick my spots to pass now and feel a ton better when I make a clean line pass. I may get higher at the finish line if a drive aggressive but its just not worth it. Its becoming a sense of pride for me now and believe me I've had my share of complaints but thats just the competitive part of racing. Stick with it. You'll miss it too much if you quit now...

Ok, I'm not going anywhere. I had a talk with Ali and Dean and things are cool. I was quite upset when I wrote that last note and I hadn't taken time to cool off and think things over.

Peace,
Sark

Ferrari F40 '92 (Premium Car dealer; break it in and change oil prior to race)

i always like to ask, what does it mean "break it"? (rookie question time)

To break in a car, means you'll have to drive 300 kilometers in it - either yourself or by using one of your B-spec drivers, Vincent đź‘Ť.

Thread was already ready :) but here is the official announcement:

Listening to some of the post after last weeks race we like to introduce a test race 15 min before the Qualification of the main race.

Just a 4 lapper race with gridstart with guys already on the track practising.
No real competition race just a moment to feel how the car reacts with other racers close around you.

It may give some racers a indication what to expect in the real race.

If it works out ok,we can give it a place in the time schedule.

Sounds like a plan! How my back improves so I can participate, long races tear it up.

Hey everyone,

I know I have not been there last races, as I am to busy in RL. It is true what Gayle said, I had promised some pictures of the Spa race, and I still got them but my PC at home has crashed(and I have not got a new one/do not even know if i will buy one).
When I get the chance to load them up, i certainly will.

As for the D-league ; remeber guys we do this for fun, and to help out to get better in online racing. Everything what the admins do (Tim, Sjaak, Al, Speedy) is in there free time, and believe me organising and sheduling everything takes time.... (example : on easter monday both Sjaak and Tim had a 'google' meeting to discuss how to proceed and addapt the academy....)

About the races itself, last weeks combo was hard on overtaking.... next week on the otherhand will get us cleaner racing.... but as always, try to come prepaired....

I hope to be there next Saturday, and offcourse I hope to all see ya back.

i always like to ask, what does it mean "break it"? (rookie question time)

All cars from the New Car Dealership have to be run in (break in/broken in, all the same thing, just different terms.) During those 300km the car's PP will slowly continue to raise. Sometimes you'll notice this if you just bought a vehicle for a specific race and maxed the PP only to be told by the game, after the first race, that the car no longer meets PP requirements. Sure enough the car will be one or two PP over the limit. Typically after every one or two races this will happen and each time you have to detune to get the PP back down. I usually do this with the power limiter. After the car's got at least 300km on it you change the oil and you're at maximum PP and you won't get any more positive PP creep.

I'm looking for some place to get coaching to bring me to the next level in GT5. Currently I do ok in the league I race in (SNAIL) and win my fair share of races but whenever it comes to time trials somehow I'm seconds off the pace of the fast guys. My frustration is I feel like I'm doing the same things as the fast guys but somehow I'm just slower. I have a GTP PSN account also so if this is the right place to find such instruction I'll sign up and give it a go. If not if anyone can point me in the right direction that would be appreciated.

You're D2-Silver so not exactly the target audience of the Academy which is designed for D3-Silver to D5. We're not focused on Time Trials either... purely online racing skills: consistency, passing properly and safely, contact avoidance, proper lines, adjusting braking points and technique in traffic, etc... not trying to drag every last tenth from the lap at all costs as you would do in a TT, but rather factoring in risk and consistency when deciding on a proper racing line/approach.

Your best bet, if you are focused on getting to the next level in time trials, would be to take part in the WRS Time Trial competitions and ask questions in those threads. Review submitted ghost replays, etc. The guys in those competitions are always willing to help, give advice, talk technique, even show sector videos. Then after running the TT you can join us for online racing on Wednesday to translate those skills online and add tire mgmt, pit strategy, consistency to the mix. The combination of heavy TT training followed by online racing using the same combo is a very good one for improving.

I might give that a shot. It'd be nice to find someone who could do some one on one coaching though because I'm sure there's some basic thing that I haven't figured out in the game.

I may be a little late for practice today. See you there!!!

Al

GTP_3D3 Main lounge open for practice!

Do your best to attend the hour before the race. Going into this car and track cold (without practise or warming up) will not turn out so well.

Next weekend we won't have the Grandson, so Maybe I'll be able to stay for the race. thanks for the oppertunity to join in!!
