GTP_WRS-Online : Academy/D-League Racing - Suspended Until GT7

I'll do it now.

Sorry about that.

EDIT: You should be in now.

Nice first session guys, nice racing guys, thanks again to all the instructors (Wardez, Litchi, Speedy) for coming and thanks to Frank for putting it all together hope we have a lot more sessions. By the way are instructors going to be looking at replays for tips?

That will be definitly something we will do in the future.... do not know if they downloaded any replays now, but we will do that in the future. Some minor changes might follow aswell.

As said no Academy next week, what gives us the time to work on the format afther evaluating the 'maiden' WRS Academy happening.

Thanks to everyone who joined us today, hope to see you all next time.

I saved all the races (from after I joined). I had a good time, - thanks a lot guys.

if you want someone to check and give tips on your replay, zip it and put it in the thread, so it can be picked up by an instructor and watched. Not needed if you do not want to offcourse.

That would be great... Though, I don't know, when I'll have them “zipped”.

Good races guys, pretty sure some guys improved this evening.
Goal achieved for that matter :)
Thanks for organisation 👍

By the way are instructors going to be looking at replays for tips?

If EU replays are uploaded, i'd appreciate to watch them and give my feedbacks. Sorry, i had to leave before the main race guys :( .
I guess it was really a good session. The combo is really cool to learn the bases. 👍

Actually, that won't be possible guys, the files will be too large for the forum to accept.
Should the replays need spreading around, dropbox accounts are the best way to go but we do have a replay upload service specifically setup for the WRS that we can allow access to.
If you need help getting a replay posted just let us know and we'll make sure it gets posted for the others to download - we can setup links in the OP as well so they are there for quick index / selction purposes 👍

Great Academy guy's! Thanks to all that made it possible and all the instructor's. Sorry I had to leave before the Main race. My back pain made it impossible to concentrate on the racing. Looking forward to the next session. :)

Glad I could help, sorry I couldn't be there more during the races but I'll clear my schedule more for the next time we do this. I'll post more ideas later in a bigger message but here's a few quick ones I had:
As someone else suggested, have instructors give individual feedback (if they want to volunteer time) to their "group" of drivers. So we'll inspect their replays and tell them what they're doing most wrong.
When we run two groups, allow only one group on track at a time, let the other group watch.
Have two instructors be out on track by themselves doing demonstration racing to show proper overtaking areas as well as how not to do things, which should be fun
And we should do more reverse grid stuff!

Also, I wish the voice chat thing was more... reliable, or louder I don't know. Some guys before have successfully used Teamspeak or Mumble during races for communication, it's louder, easier to isolate different people, and would reduce any chances of effecting the quality of the racing since it would be processed through your computers and not the PS3. I understand a lot of people may not be able to get a laptop or their PC next to them during their PS3 time but it may be something to look into.

This is definitely a good way to go 👍

Guys, this is a banner I made for the OP, since I felt bad I missed it today. Feedback appreciated, because I suck at this. Ideally I would like to see it in the OP, if deemed good enough :scared:. But yeah let me know if the picture needs to be changed, the color sucks, or the font sucks, or its too big/small.

The text looks great it's just the photo itself that's not effective. I'd suggest something with cars racing in a pack (or one car in a really quick looking action shot) with cones in the foreground or something to imply training like that, stopwatch, notepad, guys talking on a radio, whatever.

Sorry I couldn't make it in. Been having an episode of sciatica for the last few days. I even got stuck in my playseat at one point trying to do the WRS TT's. Thats pretty much when I decided enough is enough for now. Again, my appologies and hope to make the next one.

Do you still have that Grand Prix Legends link, Mitch? I remember it was a good read. Take it easy on the back!

Banner looks good, Mohit. More cars, maybe? Style is very good. I was wondering how much we could graft the GTA style while an was thinking about it :sly:

I saved a replay from the last race I did. I like the dropbox idea given that the replay files will be a bit large. Another alternative would be to post replays from the TT given that the event is based on a TT anyway. That way you have your best effort critiqued by an instructor before the event on saturday. Then on saturday we can come in and try and drive with the tips we get from instructors and see if we have improved.

Not always, next academy will not be based on a tt, but will be a faster (somewhere around 200hp) cars non tuned again, on a nice track....:)

Now here's a man who knows his world.

Was good this morning, I could see a few issues I have and need to work on them this week. Was good to do the qualifying/rolling start to see how it's done, I have always wanted to do some of the races as well but was never quite sure how it worked.
Background music will be fully off for the next one, thanks all for this.

Nice you joined us, only by practising you get acustomed to the rules, so once you get used to it..... it all will flow togheter.

Nice everybody is enthusiastic and from what i heard some people gain pace in this first WRS Academy night.

I can imagine it can be a bit crowded in one room with everybody. Why not spilt the group up, over multiple rooms. It will be hard to communicate and everybody got his own specific question or need specific tips. So every individual can learn more in a shorter period of time. After the training session, everybody can get back to the main room and do races al together.

Pic looks great Mohit. Pitbabes must be in there for sure. What is racing without those lovely ladies :sly:

I got 5 replays, which in total is 48 MB.
You can get started with dropbox using this link. http://db.tt/6TAIm4LC
Use the Public Folder to share the big replayfiles.
Is Dropbox free?

Yes, Dropbox is free.
You can pay for it to get more space but I don't and I have 3Gb of available space there. :)

Okay good! I think it's the same as Google, but that's off topic. I'll have the replays uploaded some time next week.

Appreciate the input, and I think I'll take your advice. I have a couple of ideas running in my head about getting a decent shot in with multiple cars.

Thanks! Tried reading the last part 5 times, but it didn't make any sense to me :dopey:.

In the middle of a multi car battle ???

box.com is another good choice, apply for it from the iphone or ipad and you get 10gb free, but you have to apply for a new account from the iphone/ipad. Im not sure if it works the same for android devices.

Heres the link from box.com
