GTP_WRS-Online : Academy/D-League Racing - Suspended Until GT7

Question,in the OP it says ' tuning prohibited' ,but there is a list whith parts that are allowed?
With Academy in my mind, wouldn't it be better to use 100% stock cars?
Seems with this combo hard enough without the tuning?

We will change the OP, as tunning will be prohibited at all times in the academy. It's just that Christophe has used the original thread from the weekly event. Thanks for pointing it out 👍

I won't be home this Saturday, unfortunately. But I'll be looking forward to the next one!

IMPORTANT

For those who are joinning us on saturday, make sure you have a none tuned car. Would be nice if you could make you sure you ran it in aswell, including an oil change. no extra parts or weight reduction are allowed, nore any kind of other tunning as suspension, gearing.... the only thing you are allowed to change is brake balance.

See ya all on saturday 👍

So, is there a free choice of which car you want to use, as long as it's stock?

I'm a bit confused.

The opening post says. You can add some parts (see first quote). And Frank post that the car must be stock (see second quote)

Besides all that. The saturday night attack is the old WRS version with again other car specs. Why not using this car for Saturnday night attack so everybody who joint the academy to learn can try it in a race. This way a lot of people will struggle or won't even join the saturday night attack.

Are the weight reductions also going to be banned? that way I know in advance to get a brand new car and run it in.

So only a oil change and breaking in is required?

No tuning at all. No part added at all?

Correct. Rims are allowed as they offer no advantage in performance. Also paint.

Still a bit confused

Are you sure no break in and oil change?

Still a bit confused
You can change the rims if you want. If you do, the only thing you need to do to be allowed on the tuning-prohibited-track is set your gearbox to standard again.

Are you sure no break in and oil change?
No, engine break in and oil change are required. Just put the car you want on the indy500 endurance for 84-ish laps and your done.

So, what should the outcome (BHP and PP) be, after the break-in? Nevermind.

Is ~85 laps, of Indy 500 really enough?

Yes, just don't forget to change oil after you quit the race. Also don't quit while the car is in the pits, for some reason that doesn't add any miles to your car.

I see I forgot to mention it's B-Spec Indy 500 I meant. You don't have to drive it yourself. :)

A bit less than 85 laps, done 55 so far and with oil change comes to 206bhp I think max is 208?

Anyway for tonight's session I was thinking maybe the top drivers (instructors) can sort of give us tips based on their own driving style/experience on how to approach braking and throttle action, or basically how they approach corners and how they try and get the max out of every corner to improve lap time, sort of how tidgney was explaining in his gtacademy videos. For example Chris (vagabond) talks a lot about trial braking, although I have heard of it before I still don't know how to do it myself. So things like that and other tricks would be nice to know :) hopefully someone can explain that

I've driven 6 or 8 laps of the SSRX, and I'm at 205bhp... I think it's giving approximately .5 BHP per lap.

80 Laps at Indy *4 km per lap = 320 KMs on the car = broken in. Just run a couple extra laps to be 100% sure it's broken in - which is why Tim said run 85.
If you let Bob run the b-spec race it takes about an hour and tou don't need to do anything at all.
As Mohit mentioned, do not quit the race when the car is in the pits or none of the kms will count and you will need to break the car in again.

Heum....event is at 20GMT, right? Just want to be sure 'cause I'm watching a movie at the moment.

I believe so

But Frank is a bit early He wants to beat the instructors

I can understand you are intrested in these things, as you already have more than bassic skills and a division 2 status is in the near future. But this is not what this academy is made for.

First of all we want lower division drivers to help, and give them more experience and all the help they want to improve in online racing so they would be able to reach your level...

However during the academy you could always ask someone or pm them to run a private session to inform on your needs.

I hope you do understand.
Frank.

Thanks to all. I enjoyed the race, but am not sure of the protocal just yet. Hope I didn't mess things up too much on the track. Next time if I do something out of order yell at me! And I mean Yell!! I can't wear my hearing aid with the headphones.

Fun time guys. Sorry Dennis for the DC, we were having good fun :D.

Manu, I can always help you out with trail braking if you want in another session.

Quick video I suggest you guys watch on braking. Every word he says can be translated back to GT5

EDIT: The video doesn't teach you exactly how to do it, but it gives a good idea on what trail braking is. It also helps you understand how ABS works.

Thank you, everyone who joined us, students and instructors. Special thank you goes out to Gooners, who took Dean on string, and helped him through the circuit, nice approach Mohit 👍

Hope to see ya all next week.
