Also, connected directly to our new Twitter account is our - also new - Facebookpage. :)

Again, the forum will always remain the first place to be.

I should hope so... I'm not on Twitter or Facebook ;)
I've heard great things about 3D3 Racing though 👍

Wednesday we decided it would be a good idea to have a backup plan in case the forum is ever down like it was at times from Monday night to Tuesday morning and from early Wednesday morning to Wednesday afternoon.

Twitter was decided because it's easy to use without needing an account as long as you know the account you are looking for. Then facebook was added to it because of the ability to link the two together when making the posts.

I know Shawn, I am a member at GTPlanet after all
I was being funny because I'm one of the 3 in 3D3 and I can't even access our off-site options :sly:

I guess we should also start posting to the iracing forums so you can see what we're up to. :P

 Actually, I don't use those forums at all, I don't like the structure. GTPlanet is still the only place to go for online racing forums IMO 👍

Funny, I could have sworn I posted in this thread yesterday, saying I was going to complete the three series of Volkswagen cup cars over the next couple of weeks... Maybe I posted in the wrong thread, maybe I forgot to click the button after I was done, or maybe I'm just losing it....

Anyways, I've started sending those cars already, so if you plan on contributing, please check what has been already sent before you do.

Thanks Daniel.

In other news my racing seat broke. :( How is that possible? I'm not a "heavy" guy, but I guess I'm just too rough or something with my gear???

Anyway, the top notch (or two, not sure) in the seat reclining mechanism gave way so the only way to drive is with the back reclined a bit (too much)... Not very comfortable for longer sessions... 30 minutes is about the limit before my neck starts to bug me. I emailed obutto and the owner (Chris) replied within a few minutes saying he's going to open up the mechanism on a spare seat he has and see if there is a repair... otherwise it's a new seat and however long that takes to delivery and install.

Definitely can't run in an enduro this way... and even a 60 minute race is going to be tough unless I find some sort of temp solution. Tried a few pillow arrangements, which helps with the position a little, but the neck still doesn't like it.

Favorite car and one of my top track shows up in the TT and the upcoming race and this happens... I'm jinxed. I'm definitely committed to at least two of the "Greatest Hits" races, maybe one Saturday and one Sunday is all I could do given this situation, but beyond that I think I'm out until the seat is corrected.

One option is the new obutto r3volution which is expected to be out later this month... looks insanely good, but not cheap. I'm seriously wondering if that could replace my work desk.

That sucks.
Are you close enough to a wall that you could back everything up against it?
Or move some furniture between the wall and the seat?

Channel your inner MacGyver .

But seriously, you seem to have ****ty luck with your setup. Try using a lawn chair like me ;).

I thought of that, but the problem is if it's not "notched" then it wants to push forward so it would be fine if I were constantly pushing back against it, but then if I lean forward the seat leans with me.

I should probably just weld the darn thing at full upright and be done with it. That would take care of it.

Good thing about a lawn chair is it's disposable. I'll consider that. But seriously, come back to this post in 23 years and see if you want to sit in a lawn chair for any extended periods of time. :sly:

Er... are you knocking my age, or my lawnchair?

I hope your kids are a little gentler than you are, Tim. :ill: That could get expensive.

 @ Mohit's MacGyver comment. 👍

I would use motorcycle tie-down straps to hold the seat against the furniture.
Some rope or bed sheets might work.
Can you drill bolt holes in the reclining mechanism?

Praise the PD gods ye mortals

A new update has been released for Gran Turismo 5.
The main contents of the update are as follows:

- The [Tire/Fuel Consumption] settings under [Event Settings] of the Online Lounge can now be set in four levels; "None", "Normal", "Fast", and "Very Fast".

- The view during 3D display has been improved.

- The speed of tire wear varied too greatly depending on the vehicle in some cases, and this has been balanced.

- Improved the scoring method in drift trials to prevent cheating

- The maximum RPM of the Honda Weider HSV-010 (SUPER GT) '11 has been changed to 10300rpm. The engine sound has also been improved.

[Correction of Known Issues]
- Fixed an issue where enemy cars were hitting the pit entrance wall when pitting in at the Twin Ring Motegi Road Course East.
- Fixed an issue where fuel was not being consumed when entering an endurance race with a Prius, or when setting tires and fuel to be consumed in the online lounge. Affected cars: Toyota Prius G '02, Toyota Prius G '09, Toyota Prius G Touring Selection '03, Toyota Prius Touring Car.
- Fixed an issue where the online control characteristics differed from the offline characteristics.

Haven't tested for validity yet.

We've got some testing to do to see how this impacts our events and which of those tire wear settings to use. Awesome to have choice though... that's a step in the right direction so we can choose... only problem is now we have to agree.

I was one of the few people who didn't like the Pirelli to Bridgestone tire model PD did last time, kicked the strategy out of the equation in most races.

But yeah have fun testing .

EDIT: My post count reads 666 :mischievous:

I would say always on 'very fast' :)

So from now on we would not need offline and online tune's anymore ?

Thanks Daniel.

That sucks man. I would die if i can't jump in my rig when ever i want.

I had a nightmare ones that i was was at the start of the race of my life, very prepared with lots of practice and had a change to get a podium. Just finished qualifying and missed pole by .004. The tension was building and light where counting down, they hit green and i hit the throttle and ................. nothing happened. I'm kidding  But seriously i would be very cranky if something broke down.

i've got an suggestion for a new rig. Click on virtual roadster in my sig. That r3volution looks very nice

Did you guys missed this post from me. Or was it just a bad idea :yuck: Just say so i can handle it

Was just watching the GTP WRS-Online : Historical Events / Results and got an idea for the online event results. Add another ranking where the EU and NA results are together and select it on total race time. That way your not only racing the people that on the track but also for a overall finish. Would be great to see where you end up then. (if people participate in both race races, delete the slowest).

I can tell you that I missed it.
So what you are proposing is essentially a new results table that lists all the drivers that ran both races and their 2 race total time?
It could be done, but would most likely remain entirely unofficial. I do think it could make for an interesting addition though 👍

Edit: sorry, I misunderstood...:dunce:
I'm not sure that comparing different races to provide an end result would be all that fair. These aren't time trials, so there could have been factors in either race that skew the results. I like the suggestion, but it would have to be entirely unofficial and therefore not really a 'result' in the traditional sense.

As an unofficial table we put in the "appendix" of each event I don't think it's a bad idea and it wouldn't be too hard... Basically, I agree with Hydro though that in terms of a real result, it's not that meaningful because each race develops it's own strategy. In first, you might just be trying to conserve tires and match the guy in second.. responding when he pits, etc... you're not trying to match the time of the guy from the EU race. Also, even if you could make everything equal... the guy in the NA race has more information so has an advantage... he knows if he has to push or can take it easy because he knows the EU result already when his race is underway.

But as an easy way to look at how the times compare it's fun.

One problem with putting them together is we don't have total time for all drivers... the drivers who get lapped and never finish we couldn't really order exactly.

Anyway, ran through this for the last event and here's what it would look like:

I actually prefer leaving the double entries for guys who ran both because they can compare their two races pretty easily.

Tim you have the worst luck with equipment. How is that even possible to break the seat with normal use? I think these companies just know you will upgrade so they are sending you faulty equipment.

Got a new one to report. Accelerator pedal is now fluttering... Doesn't stay at 100%. If I put just a soft pressure it kind of stays but a little too much and it flutters between 60-100. If this one can't be fixed with some cleaning it's terminal until I get a replacement.

I guess I could flip the pedals around and the clutch would become gas? Frustrated and ready just to make a trip to the dump and end the headache.

EDIT: It's gotten much worse... almost impossible to keep it at 100% and drops down to 20-50 until i release the pedal and press it again. 👎

Welcome to the club on that issue.

Jesus Tim, do your kids tap dance all over your rig when you are away?
I do admire your patience with the entire mess though, I'd have driven to where ever TM's headquarters are and tossed the entire setup through a window by now.
