Actually, if you start a lap in the game using JUST the shifter (meaning you don't touch the clutch at all), the game will just auto clutch for you, even if you're not going through the gearbox in order. As soon as you touch the clutch pedal though, the game stops autoclutching and throttle blipping/lifting for you.
Idk, I just started playing LFS again last week after a LONG hiatus, and it was a lot of fun hotlapping with the shifter. The nice thing about LFS too, is that each combo has a leaderboard (with extremely detailed telemetry for EVERYBODY's lap too, **** I wish PD would do tha!), and you can actually see who's laps were done with certain features disabled or enabled, IE if they had ABS, auto clutch, an H-Gate shifter, ETC ETC.
The problem of course,is that more esoteric features, such as telemetry, amazing tire models, and leaderboards, only go so far when you're essentially stock car racing. Bleh.
