Nurburgring took me 1 month to gold. The practice I got was enough to get me monza gold in 1 hour :sly: Suzuka took me more than for sure, but I had got the way this beast turns. I think I'm never gonna turn back to X1, except for some trolling in the top gear free runs when bored

Hi guys,

Unfortunately I am unable to WRS for a while, TV has died and the other LCD that we have in the house that has come to the rescue does not support the PS3! It comes up with "Unsupported mode" if I try and use it.

So unless TV #1 gets repaired, I'll be getting some money together over the next few months for a new one and will have to skip quite a few weeks! I'm sure it can be fixed though, but we'll see.

All the best!
Matt

Have you tried changing the video output mode on the PS3 manually? Maybe the LCD only supports 1080i or 720p? It's worth a shot.

Yeah I haven't tried this yet - don't really know how tbh, was going to Google it....

Yes, this could be the case, happened to me before. With the unit turned off, hold down the power button for 4-5 seconds until you hear an audible beep. That will reset the video output settings.

Exactly. Explained here.

As they say in the tip this will reduce the output to the least quality imaginable, but if you can see the video then you can use the PS3 menu system to fine tune it to 720p or whatever the maximum your monitor supports.

Thanks Tim/Kevin.

I gave this a shot, but I only get the option to choose HDMI output, or not. If I choose HDMI output, I get "Mode not supported" from my TV, If I choose not, I get a black screen and can only hear the sound. There are no other options at the default screen so I can't get past it to do anything else.

Kind of annoying, my 360 and SkyHD box are hooked into it via my Onkyo AV receiver and they still work fine.

Having a 32" LCD in my lounge sucks, not just due to the PS3 issues but being sat about 12ft away you can barely see it!

Do you have the right video output cable plugged into the TV? I think you need to have that before it will give you another input choice. Might be a good idea to unplug HDMI from the console, if you have not already done so.

Yeah - this is my next option - but I'm not sure I didn't throw away the composite AV cable, will have to root around for it!

Ok now that I am all registered...

I think its time to invest in a wheel.

I am thinking unless I can pick up a G25/27 for around 150 then I am going with a DFGT.

Should be more than enough for me....

Thoughts???

Justin

Yeah Justin, switching over to a wheel ads a whole new dimension to the game.
It does take some time to get used to but once you're there, you'll never look back.

How do you like the DFGT Speedy?

Thats what I am looking at. With a wheel stand pro or something of the like.

Wife wont be too thrilled about having it in the first place so having something I can move around and put away will be a big plus.

Justin

@Wildman442

Wheelstandpro = brilliant. My wife will vouch for it's fold-up-and-not-get-in-her-way-ability. It's made of materials that would survive a nuclear war and has rubbery sliding bits that actually mean you can race without pedals being physically attached - I've put in maybe 40 hours of racing on it with mine just sat on top and they don't move!

Fanatec CSR is a brilliant wheel if you need cross-compat, I absolutely love mine. Pricey of course.

In other news - I have no composite AV cable because I'm an idiot and threw it away, so I can't do a lot for now - but I'm taking the telly to a mate who I found out works for a repair shop, so I'll see what happens with that - if it's a no go then I'll start going all dough-eyed at Samsung LED-backlit TVs and try and sort something out within the next 2-3 weeks. Not sure at the moment whether I want the TV to be fixable, to save money, or buy a new TV - one of the most awesome things a man can ever do.....

@Kevin - don't put any must-race WRS events up for a while, eh? ;)

No WRS for me for the foreseeable future. I vowed to, once and for all, do the Vettel Challenge and not drive anything else in GT5 until I golded all three. I hate the bloody thing and once I've done it I promise I will never ever drive the Red Bull again. It's not racing and I'm probably too old, my reflexes are simply not fast enough for it.   :banghead: :banghead:

At least I'm done with The Ring and Monza.

And I'm done. :dopey:

Hoping for a interesting WRS coming up tomorrow.

I can't really compare to other wheels, Justin. The DFGT is my first and only wheel. I must say I'm satisfied with it as it had to endure some frustration and it's still going like new.

Congrats mate. Now, you'll never have to get in that X1 again. :sly:

DFGT is a good wheel. Pedals are not nearly as good as G25/27, but the wheel itself is every bit as good. From what I've been told, the pedal pots are upgraded vs. The old DFP, but pedals are still plastic. Good starter wheel, I would say. ;)

Sorry to hear about the TV and cable isses. I won't be putting up any must race events, I'm taking 2 weeks off. But Gravitron and Speedy might be putting up some must race events. Take it up with them. ;)

Week 52 going up soon. Hope you guys like it. Personally, I can't tear myself away from it. :mischievous:

Hmm, haven't seen that one (:d) before. Is that a tongue-out-in-concentration smiley?

Ok fellas having trouble submitting my first time.

I am literally submitting it just like the rules say too. I have tried four times and each time I get an error saying invalid subject.

I have no clue what I am doing wrong here.

Justin

If you are copy and pasting the subject heading, make sure there is no space at the end of the title.

Also make sure your time is submitted as per the first post.

Good luck Justin
