PM your qualifier times without the replays attached. You will get a response with instructions on where to email your replays.

I know but how do I attach my replays that's my problem..

Ill try my second attempt to uploading the replays tonight. I guess I'm just blind that I can't find the little tool that says attachments when I send somebody a private message.

PM and email are different. You can't attach files to PM's but you can through emails.

Just send the PM with your times first. The response you'll get will tell you what to do next.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Thank you thank you ah man! Alright danget..thanks graviton! Will do when I get home

I think my PS3 has just died. It won't read the GT5 game disc, and it's not a disc issue because it never comes out of the machine - ever. It'll take the disc and eject it again but will not read it at all :(

Thoughts?

Mine was doing that. Will it play any other games? My game had a slight scratch that made the ps3 eject it over and over until I bought a new copy

The disc has never been out the machine since the launch date, so no way it could get a scratch. Worked fine last night - but no dice today

Do you have a lens cleaning disk? It's worth a shot. If you don't, you could always try putting a DVD in it, to see if that works. Just troubleshooting basics.

Also, old PS2 trick. Try turning the console on end if you normally keep it flat. Or vice versa.

Finally, a DLC copy of the game would be less expensive than a new PS3. ;)

Thanks Kev. Will try putting it on its side and see what happens... DLC copy is a good idea but only until Dec 6th :sly: Will report back with progress.

Edit: on its side didn't work. Drive is making a lot of strange noises  Checked out Playstation Store but you can't get the full game on DLC, just disc only 👎

I had the same problem, and my disk got stuck in the machine.
The console is now collecting dust and I'm playing GT4 on an old PS2 ever since :)

Ominous... I have found what seems a legitmate source of new Blu-Ray drives on e-bay for $95 - seems like it would be worth a punt. New PS3 (12GB) is $199, and the PS4 will be $399

But are you really considering a PS4? GT6 will need a PS3 that can last a good 2 more years. I'd go for the Blu-ray replacement, or look for a used PS3 on craigslist/classified's.
I got a barely used 120GB slim for $150 9 months ago, using my local craigslist.

You may be right there. Three years practically non-stop wasn't bad though...

Tried a full system restore but that made no difference (wasn't expecting it too but you never know)...

Had a pretty good weekend. :)

I took my 2 sons and a family friend to a local indoor electric kart place for the family friend's 12th birthday. His hair was just fluffy enough to equal the 4'10" minimum height requirement. Last time I'd been there was my bachelor party many moons ago. We were just doing the hotlap style of race where there's no real race for positions. The family friend was kind of down after the first race because he was constantly getting blue flags to allow others to pass, but our 2nd race it was just the 4 of us with no randoms thrown in, so he was going faster and getting less blue flags (= big grin afterwards). Both my 16yr old son and I improved our best laps by 0.5sec in that 2nd race, me landing in the top 5 percentile (and 1.5sec off the track record) and him in the top 8 percentile. Wow was that a blast!, even with my kart in the 2nd race having faulty brakes, meaning I had to scrub speed by sliding into every turn.
Makes me even sadder that I cancelled Tim and I's plans a month ago to go there. :( My out-of-shape chest and shoulder muscles are still sore today. :dunce:

Then I ditched the kids and went to see Rush (which was a wise decision, given all the "adult content":sly:). Thoroughly enjoyed it except for all the camera shake during the racing scenes. I haven't yet investigated how accurate the film portrays the real-life story, but if mostly true, Ron Howard is right, you couldn't write a fictional story that would be more interesting. 👍

Then had one of the most frustrating WRS sessions that I can remember, at Monza. I'm not one to hit or throw things in the rare times I get angry, but I seriously needed a punching bag after doing 3 great laps and finding them all dirty. In the end though, I laughed it off and will happily submit an average, but clean lap, done without the driving line, which I consider a fairly substantial step. :)

I was in the hospital since Sept 18th after a fall striking my head at home then striking my head in the hospital shower. The Neurosurgeon had to place two drains in my head to get the blood out. I'm back home and when I fully recover I will be back at it again! (Maybe I should retire?) Good Luck to all.

Hope to see you back behind the wheel soon Gayle! Wouldn't be the same around here without you

Al

Lucas, I too saw the movie this weekend and it was very good. I then went home and watched youtube clips of Lauda and Hunt from that era, man the guy that played Lauda was dead on in every way. I then found some interviews of people involved with F1 racing in that era and Lauda himself, and they all said the movie was accurate as it could be. It seemed like Ron Howard did his research on old interviews too. The part of the movie where they asked Hunt on what makes him successful and he answered 'Big Balls', was his exact answer he gave in an interview that year.

Cool stuff with the Karting. We have a track fairly close to my house, have thought about trying to do a Bay Area GTP Gathering at one of the Kart Tracks.

The Camera Shake during the racing scenes - I was hoping they would avoid that. I intend to go see Rush on Saturday, one way or the other. But I don't understand why, when it comes to any sports/action related events, Hollywood always has to do that super close up, shaking/jerking/diving camera stuff. I suppose it makes it look exciting for people who don't watch that stuff, and makes it so they can use a small amount of real action footage from different angles to patch it all together. But it's.....frustrating.

Welcome back Jon, but I'm confused why a new Bluray would mean a game reinstall?

***NOTE***
Since a lot of WRS'ers have big signatures on GTPlanet, take note that Jordan just announced that signatures will all be reset when the new forum software goes live, which could be as soon as Oct 5, but based on that post it might be later than that.

I know I'm going to save the BBcode from my sig away somewhere so I can recreate it easily.

Thanks for the heads up Lucas

Thanks Lucas - Because I also tried reformatting in an attempt to inject some life into the machine... Did a game save first obviously, but I didn't bother trying to rescue my replays.

It will be nice if GT6 would let us set any surface water % and just keep it there for the duration of your session. Can't do it with GT5 except at 0% or 100%. Any other surface water % is only achieved through a dynamic weather setting over which you have no further control except the initial condition which may only last seconds.

That's why we always have to run time trials at 0% or 100% surface water. Here's hoping for better control in GT6.
