That's a useful video Oink. I also use the X and O buttons for accel/brake...I tried the L2/R2 buttons but couldn't get on with them (probably not helped by using them in Shift which just made me question the point), may need to have another go with them and try and get used to them, although I have got quite good at feathering the throttle etc with the face buttons. Trouble is I'm not sure I have the concentration to be using all 4 shoulder buttons! Was planning to learn to use manual transmission but now not sure which to do first

You can also consider changing gear with your right thumb on for example square for upshifts and x for downshifts.

@nursemorph it'd probably be best to learn the r2/L2 buttons first then manual. I have X for e brake, triangle for reverse, square is downshift and circle is up shift. F you try to learn manual then try to learn the r2 button, it might mess up how you'll want to program your shifting buttons.

I had a chance to get a second try at this combo. Still very lost! I will have a chance to try again on the weekend.

I use the R2/L2 buttons for throttle and brake and have mapped gear up/down to X and []. Try that. Leaving the gearbox on R1/L1 is asking for trouble.

@PASM, @ItsAllAboutWins and @Barra333: Thanks guys. I didn't even consider mapping the face buttons for the gear shifts. I guess it's just a case of experimenting until I get a combination that I am comfortable with. Thanks again

When I was using my DS3, I had my acceleration and braking with the right analog stick. I had far more precision with the stick than I ever would've had with R2/L2. I used the triggers for gear shifts instead. Try it. You might be surprised! :)

Finally getting the hang of the first sector... saw a .014 in there and a .02 at T2, was on course for a lap two tenths better until i crashed spectacularly in the final corner :dopey:

24.116
49.100

Not my best final sector, but I'll keep trying!

I submit my lap to Fetchy. I cant improve anymore and today I have to prepare for my roadtrip to Belgrade..I made about 400 km with the S1. Not enough...But Im happy to take the next challenge when Im back.....Its really funny and thank you all...Wish you a nice week and a lot of improvement...

My first WRS TT. Awesome fun! Great choice of car/track
Initial splits on my second lap:
25.883
51.55

Looking forward to getting that time down!

Not my fastest lap as I can't get near today and I've managed to mess up at least one sector badly on each of my 30 laps. Feel like I've hit a wall with this now but, anyway:

S1: 24.787
S2: 50.154

I use the L2/R2 for shifting, X for throttle, O for braking. Use manual on almost every car but the red bull. Tried different setups but I been using the same configuration since GT2 and I'm too old (or slow) to change. I learned to live with the limitations...

Same here (i'm still a youngster consider my age), but i can't change these settings. L2/R2 for shifting, X for acc and square for brake.

New splits. Not much of an improvement, but at this point, I'll take anything.

24.400
49.600

With over 30 hours invested on this, I'm really at my wits end. I just can't figure out where to gain anymore time at. I will continue to soldier on, but there has to be something I'm missing as far as the fastest line around this place. Anyways, back at it.

I've not done alot of laps yet, but check this out ,

your second sector you can't really do that much more (try taking a narrow line around the right hairpin ish corner and get as early as you can on the throttle and be carefull not hitting the redline while shifting from 2nd or 3rd, the first sector you have the video try to shave .100 maybe there or more.

New splits - ABS 3 seems to help, but will drop it down to 1 and see if it was just a placebo:

24.467
49.767

I tried changing the ABS settings but I noticed nothing different, be they 1 or 10:confused:. Maybe it was just me, certainly wasn't quicker even with ABS at just 3...was slower in fact. There was a huge difference between ABS 1 and 0 though

Finally, a decent improvement.

24.300
49.434

Finally figured out what I was doing wrong. After reading this post https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/thre...ussion-thread-gt6.294750/page-62#post-9247872
and the others that followed, I started following what was said and soon after, came the improvement. Following the advice given, I am now more consistently closer to my best lap. I also turned off the track map as I was always looking at it and it was just a distraction. I don't run with a ghost, and I don't need that as a distraction either. The sector times that pop up are a good enough indicator of where I am at during each lap.

Thanks to Stotty and the others who contributed to the above linked conversation. Some very valuable knowledge to be had there. Now, back to practice and put to use what I've read and hopefully more improvements are on the way.

New splits after a nightmare 2 hour session of throwing away great T1s for my standard with awful T2s but pulled it together for a 0.076 gain on overall lap time

T1 24.155
T2 49.178

I'm putting way more time into this as I had originally planned, hopefully next week is as much fun.

25.248
50.865

My goal time keeps lowering, which can only mean I'm sucking less and less with every benchmark.:D

Yet again, a good improvement in S1 and S2 combined (tfinally cracked the 50 second mark, so 2 tenths quicker..yay)then messed it up with a scruffy S3...figures! If I can get S1-2 sorted together, then I can see another 3 or 4 tenths I think:

S1: 24.796
S2: 49.996

Oh, and thank you @sems4arsenal for that video...I realised I am braking where I don't need to, namely T3...am quicker now when I hook up the sector so it was amassive help:tup:
