Had a another quick go at it, new splits

24.908
50.642

There's more time to be found

How do I do this with a DS3? Nevermind, I just worked it out....pay someone to sit next to you and lift the refreshing beverage to your lips :P

I used to be able to use only my left hand to drive on the DS3, as long as I used automatic gears. Index finger on X, middle finger on [ ] and thumb for steering. Don't remember how or why I found that out though, especially because I wasn't really into drug abuse yet.

Best time from yesterday:

24.850
50.500

Still have time to be gained somewhere in those first two sectors, while not slowing too much in S3...

New splits

24.502
50.085

Struggling to mate 3 decent sectors together, usually sector two being the culprit! Huge improvement on the last ones though!

Hmmm....managed to get a PB S1, not so good S2 and not my fastest lap but still an improvement, slightly over the first 2 sectors:

S1: 24.770
S2: 50.203

Eeeek.....I've just tried that (well, putting my fingers in those places) and I have no idea how you managed that . Impossible to hold the controller, much less press the buttons. And, I assume you meant right hand? Left hand would be defying the laws of physics unless you had insane contortion skills :P

Finally managed to sit down with the wheel for a 1st proper go... took me a while to stop understeering off in to the gravel  (this isn't really the sort of car I'd normally pick to drive!).

23.993
49.009

I can go quite a bit faster in T2, and I need to sort T3 out as this lap has a rubbish final sector, but happy for now.

24.200

I rested the controller on my leg, I doubt I could drive now without putting some time in again. I could never go particularly fast like that BTW, it was just for fun. ;)

OK…. I just ran for an hour with nothing to show. Like I've said in a previous post I'm new to TT's and any sort of driving sim in general. A couple of things I noticed tonight. First it seems 'the line' is the only way to drive the course fast. If you slightly miss a turn in or an apex you can just watch the tenths go bye bye. Second I've noticed in the first corner I can keep the line best if I stay on the throttle while braking. Not full throttle but say 25%. It seems to keep the car stable. I then went back and watched Vagabonds video of the first sector and he seems to do something similar. So why does this work? Anyone else do this?

Had a really nice run and sort of felt that new best splits are just around the corner, and finally got a lap with these:

24.204
49.404

So close to dropping below .2 on T1! I probably can't stop until I see that magical number pop on my screen.

Also Apricot Hill is now my most driven track with over 1000 miles on it.

@Bochawa72 I have a redneck theory on this, not sure if its correct. When braking and 0 throttle is applied then the car tries to apply an engine brake (deceleration) on the drive train wheels making them rotate slower than your other wheels. When a marginal amount of throttle is applied, you're keeping the engine brake from kicking in and you keep a little more traction.

Am I right guys or did my redneckinous fail me again?

@Stotty now if we can keep people from disappearing again... not pointing any fingers at you or anything..

After 2 solid hours of chasing my ghost I pulled my best T1 to date only to follow it up with a Sunday drive T2 to then do my best T3 to finish a massive 0.211 up on my ghost.followed by a few fist pumps and a walk round the room to take in the glory as my brother and friend gave a round of applause for my efforts.

T1 24.140
T2 49.376

Down changing helped a lot of cars turn better in GT5 - ie; using a quick change in to a lower gear on turn in followed by a quick upchange on the exit. Not really needed on this one though as the gearing doesn't really enable it. Not sure how it works when dragging the throttle whilst braking - I was using that technique in the Integrale Seasonal when trail braking in to turn 1 and the car still turned just as quick. I typically use it to balance the weight transfer if needed.

Oh, and  at the bolded part ;)

Edit: great splits, Andrew 👍

Sorry for "spamming" this thread with my splits, but since I had a good run I had to keep going for a couple more laps and got these:

24.115
49.399

FINALLY managed to drop below .2 on T1, I am so happy now. T2 wasn't perfect but the overall laptime was better than my previous best. Also big thanks to doodle for posting a vid of T1, it's been a big help when trying to improve my split.

If only I could string my best sectors together.

24.431
49.581

Lost out in s1, gained a little in s2, but the lap was a pb by a reasonable amount. Enough for tonight I think.

Very slight improvement.

24.562
49.828

Managed a first sector of .350 in a previous lap so potentially can knock another 2 tenths off.

Just ran a few more laps, only gained 0.001 overall, but got some much more respectable splits. :)

24.192
49.492
