Edit: I'll tentatively say that camber has been at least improved, 0.0 seemed slower than 1.0 on the Scion FRS I just drove. And the reason I brought it up here is where does this leave us for this TT? Will a car with 1.5 3.5 be slower, as it felt to me, rendering all laps on one or other patch worthless? :nervous:
We'll definitely have a nice sized sample of data. Only issue would be if 1.08 is faster than 1.09...unlikely.

First few laps, didn't try before update so no idea if physics changes made a difference

Can you not upload the lap using a friend's PC?

See below, sort of related. :D

So, has anybody else tried running a lap since update 1.09? Does the car feel different, or is it just me/the feedback difference (more strength, more information)? I could test to see if it's the camber, but I'm too lazy. :P
We'll have to test and make a determination on this one. If people have their own data/experience to share, that would be appreciated too. It's a bit of a hard line to say mid-week "Everyone must be on 1.09", especially if anyone so far has put in a huge effort on 1.08 and won't have time for more laps.

Plus, as @PASM has found, if you have a 12GB PS3, the total size of GT6 updates alone is too large for that console. :ouch: So to update to 1.09 you have to install a larger hard-drive.

I forgot that that would be an issue, hopefully there won't be a speed difference, but as my other post responding to you states, it's not looking good. :(

I've been trying to improve on my best lap which was done on version 1.08

With 1.09 I'm struggling to get within 5 seconds of my best and the cornering speeds are slightly different what i could do on 1.08 every lap I'm struggling to match

I had the same problem this morning. Yesterday I figured I could skim 20-30 seconds off yesterday's time, and I did so several times before blowing a corner and disqualifying. But today I'm having a difficult time keeping up with my ghost. I'm afraid 1.08 versus 1.09 times are like apples and oranges.

Times today, after updating. Yesterday I felt I could do better, and I suspect that this update make things harder. The experts will conclude on this, I guess ..

I am having the same problem since the update.. I am constantly around 4.5 secounds down at the line.. The car seams much heaver as dose the steering.. Making my wrists ache like hell using the pad.. I may have to give up. on this one..

I believe the admins will make the 1.09 update mandatory so everyone will have the same playing field.
So everyone will be slower.

I'm in that boat...I did a session and submitted a lap in v1.08. I "intend" to get back to this combo but that's partly why I submit a lap after each session so if I get too busy (quite likely this week) I still have something submitted. Not that my submission is going to light up any leaderboards but it is a v1.08 submission.

Some people may have already submitted a lap, fairly I might add...(Not my case)
Right, well, PD has a nice way of not checking with our TT schedule before releasing updates. ;)

And Jordan has not yet been able to replace my salary. :sly: So I have a day job, as do the other race admins.

I am running in the online race tonight, so might or might not have time to test this out.

I suggest everyone does the best they can with the current (updated) game version, and we'll make a ruling soon.

Does that mean the leaderboard might be messed up? Yes, I get it. But until we make a ruling, we're not going to start wiping times off the board or eliminating submissions.

If it comes to that, we'll of course contact the participants, as appropriate, to let them know of their options and the requirements.

A whole lot of time left on the track, and I wish I got to this before I updated.

One of the options, I guess, would be to have two podiums... (hey, I'm brainstorming over here!)

My times from yesterday are the same as today .. in the 53's at t9.. driven almost 300 km without a clean lap

Heh, that's because you just started yesterday so you managed to improve by about 5 seconds. I shaved 10s (from the full lap time) in my second session (both with 1.08).

Hmmmm.. i wouldn't say that... 5 seconds would put me at a 48.. no way I'm that close to bart with the way my laps were. My problem is, I think I've already went through brünnchen, then i get to it and slam mr guardrail

I might be confused. I thought you ran a quick session with 1.08 and got to 4'53 and then you ran again today and got to 4'53 with 1.09.
Anyway, new rules coming up, doesn't matter now.

I did.. my splits are near the same as yesterday.

All that means is that you're pushing harder today with more track knowledge. ;)

I've been running the behemoth since pgr3 and i've been terrible at it in every game.. and actually my gp section to the first left of the ring was faster today with the same braking and lines. Meh who knows..

OP has been updated, with the main changes highlighted in RED.

  • Instead of the R&D Courtesy Car we are now using the BRZ GT300 Base Model '12, with an oil change. We were going to make you buy this for the online race anyway, so might as well buy it now. You probably already have one because the car is awesome and even the wheels can be painted. :D
  • Since it's a Garage Car (vs Courtesy Car) you can now adjust Brake Balance, and you can also adjust front and rear Aero. All other settings should be stock - Use the new "Reset to Default" button to make sure any changes on existing cars are reset.
  • Still using Racing Medium tires.
  • All times cleared from the leaderboard. @AspecBob's time wouldn't delete so when he posts new splits they'll overwrite his 1.08 time. I guess you're special, Daniel. :P
  • The handful of times that have been submitted so far are being cleared. If a 1.08 replay is submitted, we *will* know.

The experience of driving this new combo is very similar to the original, but you *will* be slower, if your 1.08 lap was anywhere near your limit.

Feels a bit different but still a blast to drive.

Edit: found another second at T9 for mid 4'56 and lots more at the line. I'm not gonna spam the thread with another update until I get a lap I'm reasonably happy with.

Having known about the update last night I decided to get the PS3 doing it's thing this morning while I went for a run...and then this afternoon, my staff got all their Year 10 Spreadsheets completed earlier than I thought so I had a quick half hour to blast:

22.850
50.300
1'20.067
1'41.950
2'26.867
3'01.984
3'30.667
4'21.084
5'00.500

I was on one last banzai lap to try and smash these splits and was 2 seconds up at T7 so hopefully if I get another go I can find another 4-5 seconds or so 👍
