Alan_G, the change in grip is not mechanical, its in the tires

By the way, could be my imagination, but it seems like my tires start getting better grip about five laps into this event. Is there tire wear on the free fun as well? If so, how many laps will you do before you restart?

Not your imagination I noticed the same thing except I think it only takes half a lap to one lap. I think what we are feeling is the tires heating up and gaining grip. It's only worth a couple of tenths but its definitely there. Happy to see someone else noticed the same thing.

Remember PD modeled tires that lose grip for a couple of turns after going off in the sand or grass and its not made mention of anywhere in the booklet but it is very real.

I also think tire heat is very real

Again, it may be something that I'm not accounting for, but one of the ways that I seem to have noticed it is that after running quite a few laps it will tell me to go into a lower gear enter a corner, which means that the game anyway things I should take things slower than I had been before my tires started to wear.

But like I said, could be something else that I'm not accounting for (or my imagination).

I'm gonna sub now with a 1'39.95 t2, nothing special is why I haven't bothered sorting my sig and such to get on the leader board.

Very nice combo Kev 👍 And damn you Bert for sucking me into it :sly:

:D is all I can say.

Submitted with posted splits. Frustrating combo this, not got the smoothness in T1 and losing a tonne of time there.

First combo I've given up on, was not able to tune the TVR to give me 1 stable lap that i was happy with. :grumpy:

Phillip.

I'm giving up as well.
My prediction is that I'm going to be 4th, considering my T3. (I hope I'm at least 4th)

Combo was a lot of fun though, but also a bit frustrating after a while. Unforgiving car, that Tamora :)

This is also likely to be a result of increased confidence and ability in preceding corners on your behalf, sometimes the gear indicator asks you to engage a lower gear because you approach at a faster speed (due to the aforementioned reasons).

The gear indicator also starts at different times on different laps, I believe it has nothing at all to do with tyre wear.

As I said to Earth before, there are sessions where I have logged on and matched my then-personal best T1 time on the first lap. It's happened far too many times over the last 3 years where I have played GT5P non stop for me to believe there is any tyre wear modelling in prologue.

All the best

The gear indicator is particularly confusing in tuned cars, because I think the speed taken into account is for stock settings only. Though even as stock, you're able to take corners faster than suggested.

As for tyre wear and heat modelling, I'm of the same opinion as Maz. I've not noticed a difference, but thats not to say my laps dont improve with time. Its a confidence thing. I put it down to getting a better feel for the car. For me personally its very difficult to know the limits of the car on the very first lap, and so the more laps I put in the better I get. However if I restart after bailing at spoon or whatever, I can still get up to speed on the first lap. My confidence is high after putting in a good session.

If people feel like they get better grip after a few laps then thats obviously going to improve their confidence too, and I'm all for that. Tyre heat or not, if the driver feels a difference they should carry on believing :)

Good to see so many new guys popping up at the moment. More competition is good for improving 👍 I just wonder if GT5 will bring WRS participants into the hundreds!! I still think a thread dedicated to GT5WRS cant come soon enough. There are enough details trickling through now to get some good ideas and discuss organisation. Its possibly being talked about behind the scenes already but, personally I'd like to be involved in the process. You can't please everyone but if ideas get taken on board from the actual participants I think it would make for a better series.

Sorry, rambling now. Going to shut up and have a final session with the TVR. I love that car!!! :D

Thanks for the thoughts Synwraith and Captain. I think you're right about the tire wear. Particularly the comment about increased speed out of the previous corner.

And Captain Roh, as to the comment about increased competition, I don't know that my splits count as competition quite yet, but I am excited to be getting some good tips as we get closer to the long awaited GT5.

And to think that I bought my PS3 three years ago thinking that GTHD would be coming out within a couple months.

Checked my replay and exit of Degner was too close to call, so here are slightly slower splits that are definitely clean:

T1: 54.311
T2: 1'39.264

A good thing I have extra replays :dopey:

Well folks, I gave myself another hour at this today but i couldn't quite manage an improvement. Beat my ghost to 130R a few times, however i just couldn't get my lines right through the triangle. Submitting with splits on the board. Shame there was a poor turnout for div3 this week 👎:(

Submitting with these splits:
T1: 0'54.785
T2: 1'39.871

I managed a T1 split of 54'599 and I messed up 130R, so I had a very good change of podium or even a win but I didn't have enough time. But I've still hopes for a good position.

Shame there was a poor turnout for div3 this week 👎:(

So that's why you started to compete for the win in div 2? ;)

Couldn't spend as much time then usual on the combo this week, but I doubt I've could have done much better. Suzuka just isn't my thing... But to be sportive, submitted anyway. With these splits:

T1: 55.617
T2: 1.41.428

Time submitted

Very happy with the lap after viewing the replay. Hopefully not too late.

I've submitted with slightly slower splits to be safe. I ended up getting a little frustrated with this week's event. I started off too slow and the gulf in times from Div1 to where I'm at is almost embarrassing.

Otherwise, a really good challenge 👍

Good luck everyone,
Dan

Just had one FINAL attempt & Oh. My. God!!
I found a tonne of time & could've gone 0.5xx faster overall as I did get a 1'40.8xx on the lap before but I keep getting really nervous about screwing up at the end :(
Submitting with following splits:

55.493
1'41.373

A little bit of a shame as I nearly had my target lap twice tonight, once with splits of 53.991/1'38.720 only to go straight at Casio.

Submitting with:

T1: 54.027
T2: 1'38.760

Not as nice a lap to look at as my previous splits' lap due to missed apexes at Turn 1 and Casio, but really happy with Dunlop-Degner-Hairpin-Spoon. 0.02 faster at the line, not the 0.1 I knew was there.

Good luck to all, brilliant combo 👍

All the best
Maz

Not gonna be home in time for another go.
