I ran a second session last night with a very marginal improvement and was ready to throw in the towel but, I thought it best to persevere and hey, what do you know....

I can't remember the last time I was on top of the D2 leaderboard this late in the week, so I'm sure Phillip and Dan will blow past me soon. :dopey:

Thanks for the pointers so far people. I've used Animera's tune and turned off the stability control and have took a second of my previous time. Still not confident enough to go manual yet, one step at a time.


Hopefully by deadline will have another second of my total lap.
I'm enjoying this, wish I signed up earlier.

Keep it up Sid 👍 Knocking off a second per session is no mean feat, just set your goals small and you'll carry on enjoying yourself :)

Glad you found us too, and just in time for GT5! We're all going to be beginners again come november, should be a very interesting time. :D
 
First left hand ess I have apex speed of about 98 to 100mph, then right I have 79-80mph, next left about 90mph, then last ess enter at about 96-97 and brake/coast to about 72-74 and throttle out 👍

Just wondering how on earth you take the 2nd left at 90?!
I have trouble getting round there at anything over 80.
I've improved my lines alot through that first sector now I've got my wheel.
I think I've spun/crashed/wasted more laps in this last day of gaming (with wheel) than I have total in all the GT games & I'm about 1second off my pace before I changed over to wheel on this track (when I can get a clean lap that is)

Still not confident enough to go manual yet, one step at a time.

Shifting manually should come pretty easily to you (if you arent clutching)
I mostly just go by engine sound but after a few laps I kinda know where to shift without paying attention but that'll come to you.

As Roh said taking a second per session wont be easy. Just go for tenths at a time. Then when/if you go more than you expected you'll be over the moon xD
I remember last week in the RX8@Fuji I was just trying to get to a 1'55.xxx I managed a 1'54.454 & I was soo excited when I crossed the line.
Though I was really nervous on the final few turns like "dont screw up!"

Oh, how fondly I remember Maz's pre-G25 days when he and I more or less were on the same pace

I liked Maz more back then too, he never gives me the time on the track any more, he always races off at the first chance...:lol:

There are plenty of tunes out there already but I thought I would put mine up too. I tend to evolve my set ups as I progress and rarely settle on one but this helped me take a big chunk of time off.

I recommend just going for manual straight away. You have to get used to it some time, and I don't think it will be any easier to get used to if you wait a bit longer. It may seem daunting at first, but just pick 2 gears (maybe 3rd and 4th), and do a few laps. Then keep adding in gears/practicing until using all gears.

I pick the upshift points mostly by the engine note. But whenever I get on a straight, I frequently have a look at the rpm & kph to make sure everything is in-check.

Just had a look at my replay, you're right it was incorrect, entry was about 90 but at 87 I got back on the gas. I don't go out wide at the exit of right-hander before it, I stay reasonably tight so I can git a really wide entry into the 2nd left 👍

7~mph isnt really much but it'll be atleast a few hundreths faster than I am & if I can find a better line maybe a tenth.
Little gains are still gains at the end of the day & I need them at the moment.
This wheel is incredibly fun though rather frustrating at how 🤬 I am now.

I'm thinking I'll submit a wheel time, even though I could possibly get a podium with my pad time (looking at the splits)

Just done a decent 10 laps (only spun twice, getting used to it a little)
My T1 is about 0.5xx down on when I did it with a pad but... My T2 is 0.1xx faster!!
That means I was a whopping 0.6xx faster between T1 & T2 :drool:
My whole lap was 0.2xx down though (I panicked at the last corner hoping not to bin it)

Right had some better laps using a combination of Dan's/Animera's tune. Quite frustrating, not seeing where I'm losing so much in the esses, always been a weakspot of mine. One to work on over tomorrow/Monday I 'spose.

Couldn't help but have a quick session before bed :dopey:

I put in 5 laps and made a slight improvement, so quitting for now on a high 👍 Here are my marginally better splits:

T1: 54.969
T2: 1'40.138

This is a week of missed opportunities for me. I had another run this morning and had laps where I was 2 tenths up at T1 and 3 tenths up at T2, but then either messed up spoon or the final chicane. I've run out of time as I have to get to the airport. I'm submitting with my current leaderboard splits.

Managed to get a faster time. Can go about .2 faster in T1 if I don't slide through Second Turn and I think I could potentially knock off .2-.3 seconds in T2 as I took the entry into Spoon very conservatively because on previous faster lap attempts, I had missed the braking point and gone right off. Would have to be an absolutely perfect lap because I'm certainly getting close to my limit with the car and the DS3.

This is so frustrating... I just hit my target for the week, WAHOOO!! and then reviewed my replay.. Its clean and all, (phew!), its just so scruffy!! :yuck: It looks like I'm losing time everywhere! Maybe its because i'm driving by the seat of my pants, but it does look like I can improve. Last attempt tomorrow, but if I fail these shall be my submission splits:

T2: 1'39.824

Was hoping for a Div1 Bronze win this week, now I have to get back at it again.

I am not far away from podium now and there's about 5 tenths left. So I will try everything tomorrow to get my first podium.

Now running manual, no stability control or traction control. Just set my 'fastest' time.

Great to be here at GTP! Can't say that I care much for this car, but I really do look forward to significantly improving my times here in preparation for GT5. And as you can see, there is plenty of room for improvement. But hey, you've got to start somewhere.
 
i just gave it a go for the first time, and you guys a putting down some crazy times!

I am still far away from that... i feel that i need to do at least 30 laps straight to come down anywhere near the T2 of 1:40:xx ....

This week is probably not my week.

But i like this car tho! I had fun doing about 20 laps or some with this TVR... Enought to get myself acquinted .... but need to get down and dirty with it if i want some respectable times. :P
 
By the way, could be my imagination, but it seems like my tires start getting better grip about five laps into this event. Is there tire wear on the free fun as well? If so, how many laps will you do before you restart?
 
No, there's no changing mechanical grip (with the exception of when you put a wheel(s) onto the grass/gravel, which reduces grip for a few metres).

Sounds like you're just getting better!
 
Giving this one last attempt and then submitting whatever time is my fastest, whether it comes from this session or not.
