Knight_spirit, did you say earlier you can't make noon? I have changed the time until 10.30pm (thursday) your time, 5.30pm (thursday) SAi's time and 8.30am (Friday) my time. This is the best I can do that I think will fit everyones schedules

I assume you mean starting to drift in RL with going pro; not going from just drifting in RL to doing D1, FD, and other comps im not aware of.

i had a good look into what it would cost me, and what it could bring me; if i would start drifting in RL.

In short; i would need to learn soooo much about car mechanics (im in IT), i would never have any money to do fun stuff whatsoever; and even then (after having bought and built the car) i could go drifting maybe once or twice every 5 months. Add not having a storage and transport for the car, never receiving any money in return (even in the top competition in the netherlands) and the conclusion was that drifting in VR gave enough bang for the buck.. Nevermind it being a lot less hassle, more comfortable and safer being on the couch.

Id really like to drift with you guys online sometime, eventhough we could be in totally different timezoned

I know he and Seigo are like glue when they are together they are really good in Tandem drifting and they always stick together no matter what car they use. But Sai is also very good. He has some vids here on GTP you could see them via his account. I drifted with both and wonder why they aren't going professional.

Professional doesn't include 180 degrees on the wheel. ;)
just to make sure, this is a joke

Im am not a little child who doesn't know who is good or not good. Of course there is difference from real drifting and gaming, but I know the difference from a ''gamer'' and someone who could be a real drifter. It is just my opinion I am not saying that they are proffesional. I think they could be proffesional. I am saying this out of respect for how good they are. You think they couldn't be a good drifter in real ? I spoke to real drifters and they said that GT5 is pretty realistic.

It is the same with the GT-Academy events. They play the game, sign up and the winner becomes a pro ?

(BTW they use a 900 degrees wheel lol)

Like you wouldn't assume that someone who is awesome at Call of Duty would want to go and become a Navy Seal, because the commitment required is somewhat different, and so is the impact on your life as a whole. :)

Yes but you don't hold an assault rifle in your hand when you play Black Ops.
You dont have health recovery, you dont have a tactical insertion in real and you don't have a mini radar as a real soldier.

You do hold a steer in GT5 and maybe could afford a RWD what can drift good.
You have one yourself so it isn't impossible.

That is a GIGANTIC difference.

Look im just saying my opinion and I know that it is very hard. I couldn't be a pro drifter, but I see that other people maybe could be it.

Me and my brother Drift in real life and in GT5 using a 900° wheel and if we try to do what we do in real life in GT5 (same car specs) we find it harder to do in GT5 than in real life ... in real life u get tons of feedback from G-force, sound , and the wheel itself!!
Not just from the wheel that doesnt turn as fast as a real wheel can.
Now i know most people will say fear and safety are a big factor in real life and i agree but when u overcome the fear whats do-able in real life is much much more than what is do-able in GT5 ...(at least with the current level of feedback my driving force GT gives).

100% yes

DFGT is what is making the game harder. ;) Get a G25/G27 and then RL and GT5 are virtually identical (except, as you said, for the g-forces).

i didnt say harded ... i said do-able i can to things i beleive no other wheel user in this game can do ... DFGT and G25/27 have same FFB words said by logitech themselfs ...

That's a bold statement, and knowing guys like SAi and Keisu, I HIGHLY doubt it LOL

I own both DFGT and G25 and I'm telling you, they aren't the same, the G25 is MUCH faster to respond. :) The difference is HUGE.

Watch a DFGT drifting vid, then a G25 Drifting vid, you can let the G25 spin through your hands, while you really have to pull the GT around (i've used a dfgt)

Chris.

Maybe you use different feedback? Or is the difference really that huge ?

I always have feedback set to maximum, there is still a big difference. I have DFP, DFGT and G25 wheels, and they all feel completely different to one another.

I'm not going to post in this thread anymore on the subject as we are getting WAAAAAAY off topic. If anyone wants to carry on the discussion, PM me :)

Ah ok then i should thank you for making this clear :D
THanks TwinturboCH, i said what i said i watched many reviews and all said that the 2 are the same apart from built quality and material used ....

They are different when it comes to response. I walked up to a game shop with a GT5, Playseat pro and G27, rather then fighting to get the wheel where you want it, you simply catch it at the right time. Needless to say I span on every corner

I've had tO change the time of the SAI vs knight_spirit battle as it wouldn't be possible for knight_spirit to make it. I am talking with both on the new time. The bertvw battle will be held on it's scheduled time

Do you still need a judge for the last rounds? I'll help out if it makes your life easier :)

JUDGE - MrDinosaw94 & tuzmyfuz 1.30pm

What can i say about this battle? hmm... I know, watch the video.
It is without a doubt the best tandem drifting i have ever witnessed on
a video game. It took two calls of one more time and the drivers never
left each others side. This was the reason i started this tournament.
I must also mention the sportsmanship shown by everyone involved was
spectacular. After the battle the judge, competitors, a few friends and i
spent some time drifting together with awesome results.

Just read this battle review, you say you called two 'one more time's, but I only counted four runs. Do you realise that a 'one more time' isn't actually one more run, it's one more PAIR of runs. :) It is effectively a re-run. :) Not trying to sound condescending, just wanted to let you know in case you weren't aware :)

it would be better if it were called D1 style and call it Sudden Death

I counted it as two, because in an earlier battle, there was only one run required as a driver cracked under the pressure. You are right though... (well done quoting that BTW, the OP is pretty messy)

Your choice on which battles you judge, being from london, you really suit the bert vs jimmy battle as they are both around GMT. your choice tho 👍

Not a bad idea, as it makes the initial "one more time" call make sense. Good thinking 👍

It was D1 that started the 'one more time' thing when they did the first exhibition match in the States back in '05 I think it was. Sudden Death also sort of implies one more run. In JDM we sometimes say 'Run them again' as it removes any ambiguity. :)
Or we could even think up our own... I have no ideas though ;)

Wow, i just realised this thread in just two and a half weeks has become the third biggest in replies in the GT Planet drift forums. Congratulations to everyone involved. (FYI the biggest is my team's thread, Southern Sliderz)

Sorry Dino, but that second run should have gone straight to SKR, Keisu completely stuffed the first corner, then SKR was right on his tail for the entire lap.

Did you forget that this happened by the end of the race or something???

EDIT: Oh and please don't use chase cam, you can't see the initiations through the smoke...

Chris.

Chase cam is only for calls of one more time. Thanks to cervatoz i can change cars in replay mode (i know i'm an idiot) So in future i will only have chase cam in a picture in picture. Ie big view of normal replay, small screen in top right with chase cam. I didn't judge that battle, Tuzmyfuz80 did. It was his call and he made it. I support his decision as he was the official on the day 👍
