My dad just finished his salt flat car last night. Well here it is. I'll get better pictures when its warmer out.

Thank you. Well we got another new car yesterday. My dad used to work for Thetford so we had to get it. Plus its a racecar so twice as good. Also I remember seeing a Dyson fan on here once so I thought it be a good car for him.

Nice Spyder, Nismo.đź‘Ť I prefer the Penske #7 my self though.

Anyway. just to say that Vettel BMW I bought a few months back seems like a good investment. There is currently 1 on the whole of ebay, selling for ÂŁ200 buy it now with ÂŁ13 postage. I paid ÂŁ55.

Hi Nism0, I really like that RS Spyder, I actually prefer that paint scheme to the yellow Penske one.

What is the manufacturer of that model if I may ask?

I haven't posted here in a while, here's a list of models I've gotten recently (last few months). I will post some pictures when I get around to it, I will be busy this weekend, so might have to wait until next week.

Ferrari 512 TR by Kyosho
Lamborghini Diablo 6.0 by AUTOart
BMW M3 Convertible E93 by Kyosho
BMW-Sauber F1.08 Robert Kubica by Minichamps
Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera by Maisto
Jordan 191 Michael Schumacher by Minichamps
Ferrari F2000 Michael Schumacher by Hot Wheels Elite
Ferrari F2001 Michael Schumacher by Hot Wheels Elite
Ferrari 575 GTC Team Giesse Spa 24hr 2004 by Kyosho
Maserati Tipo 61 Camoradi Nurburgring 1000km Gurney/Moss by Minichamps

My diecast fund is completely done for now I think. I have a specific list of 24 models outside of which I will not buy anything (14 of them won't be out for quite some time), the rest of them aren't out yet, but will be out soon, but I don't have any money right now so I hope they don't come out soon.

Both of them are Norev. They haven't made the new spyder yet though. They also have the Team Essex one too. The best place for the Penske one is ebay since its a dealer promo and theres always a few on there.

I am hoping somebody may be able to help with this. I am somewhat obsessed with the mclaren f1 road car and have slowly been collecting here and there minichamps models of the mclaren f1.

I am at the moment trying to get all colours of the 1/43 scale models.

I already have or have found where to get most of the ones I am missing but there are a few I cannot find and any idea where I could find them would be great.

Mclaren F1 road car metallic red (530 133434) <- Most important. Can't find this anywhere. I saw one was sold just 2-3 weeks ago on ebay which I missed somehow. I usually try search weekly for any that pop up.

Mclaren F1 road car "tag heuer" (530 133433)
Mclaren F1 GTR orange 533 164380
Mclaren F1 GTR red 533 164381
Mclaren F1 Black with gold wheels 533 184393 (was included with the minichamps collection book 2008) There were heaps around last year but was not in a position to buy then. Would be looking for it with the book.

This is my mclaren f1 collection thus far. I have doubles of 2 of the 1:87 (red & green). My 1:18 green f1 is completely sealed. Still has the original stickers and plastic strap around it from new. I don't display that one at all.

All of them have their original box bar the orange lm 1:18. I do want to find another 1:18 lm and gtr if i can at some point but as i wrote above. I'm concentrating on my 1:43 collection at the moment.

I also have a 1:64 red f1 coming in as well as a 1:43 platinum grey and some of the hekorsa models I am looking at buying in the next few days. The 1:12 f1 I sold so that is gone now and am waiting for the new silver 1:12 to become available in the coming weeks. I'd love to get the

Other non model f1 stuff i have include driving ambition. A biography of the mclaren f1 basically. As well as x3 posters.

Cheers for the research Max-DC. Unfortunately none of those are what I am after(either already have or were the wrong brand). I have a few of the hekorsa (two tone) ones coming in at the moment but still haven't had luck with any of the others. I actually am thinking to not bother with any lm/gtr editions and stick to the road cars. I managed to source the orange gtr that I mentioned in my first post but with an asking price of close to $900 aud (400-450euro) I would rather put that towards another 1:12.

The ones I still need if i stick to road cars are:

Mclaren F1 road car metallic red (530 133434)
Mclaren F1 road car "tag heuer" (530 133433)

There is a tag heuer one on ebay at the moment from an ebay store but I am looking if any other pop up as i think they are asking a bit over what it is worth and the new edition of the 1:12 should arrive anytime now so am trying to keep that much aside to purchase it right away.

I am also looking at starting to collect all my "childhood to current hypercars" soon. I was going to collect these in 1:18 but the brands that build a few of them (eg. zonda and xj220) are rubbish. In the 1:43 though there are some excellent brands.

Could anybody give me a ranking of the following brands in terms of which are the highest quality/best. Models are all 1:43

minichamps
ixo
looksmart
spark
autoart
kyosho
mondo
mattel

Spark, Ixo and Kyosho are the best in terms of quality, though they do carry the price tag to match...

In fact im pretty sure all but mattel and mondo make some impressive 1:43's, though i've not heard of mondo so i dont have an opinion yet...

the price I can deal with. Just means will take a bit longer to collect. Been doing some research and so far I have managed to come up with so far:

looksmart
minichamps
autoart
ixo

I know kyosho is up high just not sure where.

After getting through much of my mclaren collection i decided to expand it to collecting all the most stunning/inspiring cars I have seen.

This is actually the list I came up with

alfa romeo 8c
aston martin db9/vantage
audi r8
bugatti eb110
bugattti veyron
cadillac cien
caparo t1
ferrari f40, f50, enzo, 250 gto
ford gt/gt40
gumpert apollo
italdesign cala
italdesign nazzca
jaguar xj220
koenigsegg ccx
lamborghini reventon
lexus lfa
mazda rx7
maserati mc12
mclaren f1
mclaren mercedes slr
porsche carrerra gt
ferrari p4/5
tvr sagaris
volkswagen w12
ruf ctr3

I have managed to find models for a fair few. Some though I might not get.

If anybody thinks of any I should add let me know.

There are other companies like Ebbro, Aizu, HPI Racing, etc. but they seem mostly to make race cars and japanese cars.

I had a fax cross my desk last week and a company here in japan is releasing a 1/43 F40 and F50 in red or yellow. Looks like it's going to be around 8,500 Yen. That same company is putting out a 1/18 P4 as well.

Next month Kyosho will be releasing a 1/43 Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder in 3 different colour choices.

Kyosho will also be releasing in 1/43 two Audi R8 V12 TDI, a detroit auto show version as well as geneva auto show version. At the same time they will release a Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport in two colour choices and Veyron Grand Sport Soft Top in two colour choices. I think the suggested retail price for each is 19,000 yen.

And most interesting for Gran Turismo fans, a company called Norev (if I recall correctly) will release a 1/43 scale Citroen GT. The one revealed at the Paris Motor Show.

I know GMP Diecasts makes a 1/18 Ferrari 330 P4, which others have posted elsewhere in this topic...

Anyway from my experience in 1/43 I would have to say Spark, AUTOart, and HPI are among the best. If Kyosho 1/43's are anything like their 1/18's then they also are most likely excellent models. Ebbro has some really nice stuff, as does Minichamps. My best 1/43's from the following companies:
Spark/Bizarre (Excellent, but uses decals on many race cars instead of tampo printing)
AUTOart (Excellent overall)
Minichamps (OK to excellent, depending on age and the car. Race cars use decals)
Ebbro (Good to excellent, depending on age and the car)
HPI (Excellent, but also uses decals on race cars)
Looksmart (Very detailed handbuilts, but non moving wheels)
Also, Spark, Bizarre, and Looksmart are all resin, not diecast like the rest.

As for retail price, it can range...
Spark/Bizarre = $40-$60
AUTOart = $30-$60
Minichamps = $30-$50
Ebbro = $40-$60
HPI = $30-$100+
Looksmart = $100+
Although, many of my models were way below MSRP, thanks to Ebay and other online sites. Some were above MSRP though.... My best deal was probably $56 for a $130 Looksmart ItalDesign Cala. Also got most of my AUTOarts for less than $10 thanks to GoMotorBids.
http://venom.nd4spdworld.com/My_Models/ <- lots of pics in there mixed in with my 1/18's. All those pics will be moved to a new hosting server though, since that site could go down at any time...

Goold old modifiers anyone :D ? Too bad that line failed because for the price, the details and features were excellent. They even squeezed in MR2 and CRX!

Looks like a company called Spark is releasing 1/43 RUF CTR2 '96, RK Spyder '06, and a CTR3 '07 sometime in the near future, if they have not already.

Yeah, I do believe they have been released within the past month or two. I plan on getting the CTR2 and CTR3 sometime soon.

They are definitely out. I'm about to buy a ctr3 but I have about 10 models to get from the one place so will have to be in a week or 2.

has anybody heard of schuco? are they any good? I have the option to either buy the looksmart audi r8 or the schuco. Just wondering if the schuco is any good incase the looksmart one goes out of my budget.

Not sure, I don't have any Schuco models. I do know they make a 1/18 early model Mercedes-Benz Unimog that is very detailed, along with an extremely well detailed 1/12 scale VW Bus. I would guess going by prices they are at least comparable to a Minichamps 1/43 though.

Thanks venom. I think I might try get the looksmart otherwise hold off until i can see one in person at least. I had another person tell me today that schuco are a bit hit and miss on their models.

Just added 7 minichamps to my collection today. Will update with pics when a few more interesting models come in.

ford gt 2004 (white/blue)
porsche carrera gt (red) - not my first colour preference but it is a much better model than the autoart one and was only 25usd. Cheapest i found on ebay posted in black or silver was about 50-60usd.
x4 mclaren f1 (silver limited, red, red/white hekorsa, black/yellow hekorsa)
bugatti eb110 blue (contemplating picking up a red and black one as the place is shutting down and has discounted them)

Apparantly the new edition of the 1/12 mclaren f1 is in next week so that will be my next purchase. Though I'm almost tempted to instead get one of the ones listed on ebay at the moment of the old editions as in my eye they are more valuable.

added pics of rest of my collection

and updated 1/43 collection

Good to hear. I am waiting for the following to be made by at kyosho/spark/minichamps/autoart.
Lamborghini
Reventon (there is a mattel and one other brand, both are rubbish)
lp640
lp560-4

audi
r8 (I am not willing to get a schuco one so will just wait to see if one comes out)

Mercedes
SLR Stirling Moss (out September 09) - Can't wait for this one. I think it is what the slr should have looked like in the first place. Original reminded me too much of a c class.

I'm no photographer but as I was posting some other pics It thought I'd upload this

All 1:18ths, I tend not to bother with road cars (non-racing cars). As you can tell, I'm into BMW's :). The two most expensive there are the FIA GT Mclaren F1 GTR, and the Brabham BMW BT-52, they were about ÂŁ60 each. The CSL Batmobile is really detailed and probably one of the best models. Still got about 7 or 8 to get before this part of the collection is complete

That's a fantastic collection! You just need a Warsteiner DTM E30 M3 and you're set. Those sell for a pretty penny though..

I've kinda gone on a binge of buying BMW models myself of late. I'll have to take some pics to share when I get a chance.
