Recently I have been looking at this model from the official Flying Lizard Motorsports website:

aa.07.45.angle.900.650.jpg

But I was kind of surprised to see the price-tag on a 1:18 model :indiff: ($109.95)

But I'd love to own the 2007 special Le Mans livery Flying Lizard model more than any other model:

car1_large.jpg

But it's a 1:43 model :indiff: ($46.00)

Anyone have some other resources of models of one of these in 1:18 scale that are of excellent quality, but with a perhaps lower pricetag?

85 Euros at www.modelissimo.de for the Autoart one. I don't know what the exchange rate is at the minute for the price difference.

yeah thank you for moving my post here, where nobody wil answer me in a thousand years.

not necessarily true, I've never had a burago 1:18 although I can vouch that the quality of AutoArt models are good and suggest you go with that one :)

Oh thank you TGM Tiddy, I have just ordered the autoart one. Burago models have never convinced me really, I have an orange murcielago and I don't like it much...don't know why.

Funny you mention that Flying Lizard #45, I ordered a 1/64 Minichamps model of that car the other day, I think it said Sebring or Laguna Seca 2007 on the base. I'm gonna get some photos of it in the sunshine here at my nan's house.

I'm also putting together a collection of 1/43 Le Mans sportscars/prototypes/GT cars, pricked by my initial looking at Ixo's range. A few years ago I got a 2003 Audi Sport North America R8 and a Aston Martin DBR9 from the FIA GT series, and I found them again this week. Couldn't believe the treatment I gave them - the Aston had lost it's rear spoiler!!!

Needless to say I treat them with a bit more care now, and I've just taken ownership of a beautiful 2007 Corvette C6-R from the 2007 LM24hrs - again, pictures are forthcoming.

I've collected diecasts of all scales for years now, 1/18 muscle cars, 1/64 NASCAR stock cars, the 1/43 GT cars I've already outlined, all sorts...it's fun :) I'll try to get pics up of it all when I can.

Now I have two Carousel 1 Indy cars...

Gotta love the orange turbine powered door stop known as the Lotus 56 :P

Hi, i was wondering how you guys store/display your collections, do you keep your cars in the box or do you take them out and display them on a shelf, showcase ect? i'd like to see some pics :D

My 'best' quality models are currently in their boxes, out of direct sunlight and slightly covered to prevent dust getting in. The others are just left out on shelves and regularly(and carefully) cleaned. My project ones are either left out or in a draw. I'm getting myself a glass cabinet soon where I can display my best models out of their boxes safely and i'm re-decorating and re-furnishing my room so it should be better to accomodate new ones too.👍

Here's pictures of a few of my 1:18th cars to illustrate(please excuse my cheap-ass camera, rushed photos and messy room:guilty:):

lol, I display my models outside of the box :P
I just have to dust them regularly...
Now, what models I cannot display, I keep them in shelves in my closet and rotate models in and out every so often. Now, many of my 1/43 models are in display cases, while I have a single display case I was using for my Carousel 1 1/18 Penske Z-7 Indy 500 winner. I have been thinking of modding the case to hold my other C1 Indy car, my Lotus 56.

Thanks for your your replies, i currently keep my cars in their boxes in a closed bookshelf, and some in a cupboard, but i'm thinking of getting a glass showcase so i can take them out of the boxes and display them without worrying about exposing them to too much dust!

I but them in places and at races I got to throughout the year. I perfer online, but sometimes the shipping prices makes it not worth it and I wait to find it in person.

Been a while since I posted last.. I can't even remember what I had posted last time. Anyway there have been a few new models added.

The boxed orange LM and Black GT are new. Got them for a bargain thanks to a bad ebay listing. (EVO magazine is new too)

Just noticed the cars are dusty but oh well. I'll dust them tomorrow. Anyway back on topic:

Audi R8 I've had for a few months now and was searching for it for a while.

UT Models McLaren F1 LM

Very nice collection you have there.:tup:What colour is your LM?, apparently Silver and Dark blue ones are really rare.

I picked up a 1:18th UT Models Escort RS Cosworth earlier this week for really cheap, it needed a good clean but other than that it's in perfect condition. Looks great!.:)

My Mac F1 LM is the orange one. I also have the longtailed in black.
The regular street version I have in silver.

I also purchased the Kyosho Ferrari 250 GTO Le Mans in Tour de France colours. Nice model, but to expensive for what you will want.

Nice car, the RS Cosworth. I had a red one, but I sold it ( one of the 5 models I ever sold) after I purchased the Martine WRC version.
It is still amazing how nice of a model UT made. 👍

I do tend to buy the high end models. The make the cars that I love (the older racers) and they bring it with so much detail. CMC is the leader of the pack in 1:18 if you would ask me.
Yes, it is a big price tag, but keep in mind that makes like Minichamps, Autoart en Kyosho have increased there prices again. The diffrence between a CMC and an Autoart is sometimes around 50 euro' s. Whilst CMC makes a car with more then 1.300 pieces. And Autoart just uses better paint and slighty better detail then before.

I really like the Mazda Le Mans 767 car rsh posted. I don't recall seen that one before, I've always liked that car so much. I don't collect, but I might have to get that one.

I have few models, but I don't have any pictures. :ouch:

This is the best I could come up with:
66995207.jpg

Top one is the James Bond Vanquish by Beanstalk(Minichamp, I think?). Complete with the 007 gadgets. boxed up in the closet.

Also boxed up in the closet is the Autoart James Bond DB5. I think I paid good $50 or more for this on eBay, back when. Very disappointed with this one, because the detail is very poor for Autoart, and couple of gadgets broke immediately.

Couple of Minichamp models: Nakajima's Lotus, because he's my countryman. It was $30-ish? Takagi's, that one was like $10. I have it dispalyed at work. Lotus is boxed away, antenna's busted on that. Takagi doesn't have any antennas or mirrors left on it.

Autoart GTOne, this one's actually my favorite. I think I paid $50 + shipping. It's the most detailed, but it's also collecting dust. I should clean it, put it in a case.

Autoart Ford Racing Mustang. On display at work. This one was $34, I think. Serial #'d to 6,000, very nice model.

Ford 1951 F1 Pickup, I love this one. It's my business card holder at work. Amazing no one's broke anything off it, yet. I also have a rubber gorilla sitting in the passenger seat with its' arm sticking out. That's where I use as the rubberband holding hook. :D

Sorry for the rubbish internet pictures, but they are of exact models. I figured it's better than none at all. :dopey:

Edit: Looking over rsh's classic European racing cars, the details are insane!
