I'm not a frequent here as I made it a pact to not collect anything but 1:64 diecasts, but I wanted to ask purely out of curiousity how many of you do modifications to your scale models?

Try checking out this thread. It's dedicated to modifications on 1:64 scale cars.

Good luck 👍

Edit:
Just saw you post frequently there  I guess you are asking about bigger scale cars?

Dad's been building me a new cabinet over the last couple of weekends, got to pick it up yesterday, filled up pretty quick though:lol:

That is correct. It'd be awesome if someone here customizes their larger scaled models, because I ordered two Bburagos to do just that. I'm all 1:64 scale otherwise.

Maybe in the future, would love to make 1:18 'Rauh Welt' Porsche but I have no experience in anything that involves creating something that isn't there at all  I am busy with a Kc10 GTR, lowered it a bit and aftermarket wheels. But it's 1/24 and it's a model kit.. Aaand I ruined it, when I placed the windshield I spoiled some glue over it :grumpy: When I walk into another box that's cheap I'll get it and maybe I'll get it done within the next 10 years... :odd:

I just bought two 1:12 ABC Brianza build Alfa Romeo Guilia Spider 1300/1600.
Now i have to wait until they arrive.

And 4 1:24 ebbro's i didn't have. Lets see how good they are.

I have customized quite a few of my 1/18's. Anything from just lowering all the way to wheel swaps and engine swaps. Normally just detail painting though on a lot of cheaper models. Here are some examples of my modded models:

@Venom800tt, That's wicked. May I ask where you got hold of these wheels to do wheelswaps?
Thanks!
The BBS wheels on the ME412 I found on ebay, the Hobby Design TE37's on the R34 I got from Hobby Link Japan, and the GMP made wheels on the GTR-1, Challenger, and Camaro were from various online diecast stores. The GMP wheels are no longer made sadly, but still might lurk around ebay.

Got some bbs wheels on the way for a custom project although have a feeling it might be abit "dub"

Awesome collections, guys. I'm a rabid collector, especially with Hot Wheels. I'm going to go photograph pretty much all of my scale models so I can contribute to the thread. Pictures will be posted starting tomorrow, and will gradually be posted, not all at once.

I've seen some awesome V8 Supercars, the Initial D AE86, and other amazing cars. Mark my words, I WILL buy a V8 Supercar scale model before I die, and the AE86. Fair warning for my collection: its heavy on NASCAR and other racing cars, as well as muscle cars.

First time a car was available and no one's at home, so I snuck out to the flea market on my own for the first time. Only grabbed this Motormax 1:24 RX-7 for $10:

It's going to see a few modifications. Metalflake green is a pretty colour, but doesn't suit an FD that well.

Awesome collection. what is the "end of and era" car like?
Thanks mate:tup: Its looks ok except for the slight decal error behind the front wheel, I checked the other 2 at the store where I got it but they all had the same thing:(

EDIT: I remembered that I had a scale model photo-shoot using my video camera a while ago. I'll start with some NASCAR.

Don't know how many of you find an interest in the cartoon-y proportions, but I almost bought this 1:24 Muscle Machines Bel-Air today.

I thought it looked so wicked I came close to losing to my impulse. Good thing I didn't because I came home, researched and found a much cooler looking 1:18:

First time ordering cars bigger than Hot Wheels. Pretty photos will come when I make them look prettier.

I had this Bburago's 1:18 Kaefer (a red one) when I was a child, but my 3 years old junior brother destroyed it. :(

Was going to lighten up the photo, but I have a soft spot for cars partially hidden in the darkness.

That's today's arrival. It too is going to see a future modification.

Another Jag came today this time the XJ13

Holy 🤬

Every time you post that I get all giddy like a college girl in a plaid skirt. Got damn I love that freaking thing.

Dad's been building me a new cabinet over the last couple of weekends, got to pick it up yesterday, filled up pretty quick though:lol:

Dude take them out of their boxes, they're dust free now! If I had a cabinet like that all the boxes would go to the upper part of the closet RIGHT NOW.

The Ebbro cars in 1:24 came in.
I am not sure about their origin, so the Porsche's could be modified regular cars or pre-release ones.
They are however very nicely done, so even if they are the product of somebody spending lots of time in his basement customizing the normal ones they are wurth every penny.

They Honda Odyssey cars i just bought because they look to be part of the same series of cars. And i do try to get that series completed. I think they were on sale in China at car dealers, or at least are targeted at the Chinese buyers of Honda cars. They do lack some detail normally found on 1:24 ebbro cars, as the front wheels don't steer and nothing opens.

And to finish two picture's of all 1:24 Porsche 911's in my collection of Ebbro's.
