My first post in the topic but am wondering if any collectors can advise if there was ever a 1/43 scale diecast of the Ferrari F40
as I sure one must have been made but can't seem to find any details on which diecast manufactuer would have made it and
what is considered a reasonable 2nd hand price to pay for one?
I have two 1:43 F40's - standard red and a blue F40 LM Aldix-Pilot.
The manufacturer is supposedly Hachette. The quality is decent for their price.

The red one, for the years of storage, has stuck to the plastic shelf so much that I couldn't detach it with the first attempt. :D
I'll try to do it carefully, later.

Thanks, I will have a look out for them when at the shops/stalls at shows and see if I can acquire one. Was thinking just to
go for usual Ferrari red but after seeing that blue race livery example I might go for both.

People make Itasha liveries... you know, 2D cartoon girls cut and pasted with tons of text all over their cars like they're "graphic designers"? I said "let's pursue that further and go beyond, because simple C&P is something anyone can do". At this point, I almost rather identify this as an "Art Car".

Started this project est. mid-2015, got left on the side for at least 2 years, resumed it Autumn 2017, weather got cold, waited until May 2018 to resume, finished late-June 2018. I am happy to announce it is finally complete. I've been saying finally a lot lately.

Full blog post with all work involved, pics, story, everything.

Going from a 1/24 Motormax FD with proportion errors in the casting, terrible panel lines, and scratched up windows, I've transformed it with a modified body kit, many paint colours, plenty of decals, plastic bits, exhaust tip, wheelswap, endless amounts of clear coating (with bonus dust embedded inside).

It's loaded with crafting mistakes on my end; inexperience, impatience, learning to let go, etc., but I am still very happy with transforming an idea I have on paper into something tangible. Way cooler than modifying Hot Wheels IMO.

Edit: why the heck not:

Just got a new 1/43 model from Ebbro/Hpi in the mail. :)

Edit: Forgot this shot. :embarrassed:

I've got the same one, it's a lovely detailed model! It's currently sat next to the Ebbro 2007 Calsonic GT-R.

I bought it as it's quite nostalgic to me. As a teen, my dad and I started on the 1/24 scale Tamiya kit of the same car but we lost patience and it sat unfinished for years before ending up getting chucked out when I left home.

I found this signed 1/24 scale Steve Park Nascar action in a Goodwill yesterday for $10.

The paint is a little faded at the bottom but it doesn't really bother me.

Now if some people can just donate some good 1/18 scale models to Goodwill. :embarrassed:

Just noticed that putting a row of other cars on the background of a car you're photoshooting works nice. What do you think?
I should think about proper surface and decorations...

The Land Cruiser, Murano, 330 GTS and Aurelia are mine, too.

Edit: another one

I never learn. Would be nicer if the grey was darker. Stop buying plastic Minichamps.

@MSZ $35.60 on customs.

A post office clerk I see often has mentioned that Customs have tightened up, so we may have a higher chances of getting hit with taxes moving forward. Because I remember being taxed every time I ordered from CK in the past, but I haven't been hit with anything earlier this year oddly enough.

Yea CBSA seems to be working a lot harder these days. Like you said I haven't been hit with anything at all this year, but it all changed with my most recent package from CK, these mother****ers @ CBSA have hold my package for a whole damn month, and when I finally received it yesterday I had to pay $50.36! This is ****ing highway robbery.

Daaamn a month?

I have one that's been sitting since 6/24. Only cleared Customs today. Maybe I should backtrack on the news to investigate what's up. There has to be a reason why the sudden shift took effect.

2-3 weeks ago I had to pay around $20 on customs.

Not die-cast car related but here in the UK I almost always get hit with a large customs bill for all my anime figures I import
directly from Japan so I think the rest of the world is probably tightening up on that as well which is why I mostly try to
source my collection from places I know I won't get hit with a customs bill.

Perhaps it's worth comparing numbers based on the purchase amount, despite knowingthat this number can be completely random.

My CBSA form states that the total declared value (for duty) was 197.34, HST was 25.65, Handling 9.95, Exchange rate 1.5357

$10 charge to assess a box. Wow.

About 15 years ago I bought a gunpla related magazine from Japan, and paid the exact same $10 handling fee, the magazine itself was just 900 yen.

I went over the receipt and the total was $60, $40 at the postal site and $20 when it arrived.

Another 15% off sale @ ebay today.

These 15% sales are coming in more frequently than they have last year, haven't they?

Nearly hit my monthly budget picking up all the parts needed to modify 4 models.... but heck I didn't want to spend more on a 2nd or 3rd shipping charge.... but then again, if the purchase was small, it could potentially get by Customs without being taxed.

Yea, these sales happen almost biweekly this year. But I have spent quite a lot in the past month or so, can't pick up any more models this time around.
