Huge package arrived today directly from Invada Records while I was at the record store.

First these were the pickups from the store.

Some more Jazz.
image.jpeg

This is a lovely laid back Jazz album and worth a spin.

Next was an album I wanted last week but I couldn't grab it in time.
image.jpeg

BadBadNotGood -IV - nice jazzy electronic soulful album.

Then the delivery from Invada had these in...

image.jpeg

Alex Somers - Captain Fantastic Soundtrack. It's the limited edition which should have come with a Singned print. However it wasn't in the package so Invada are sending one out to me.

image.jpeg

Beak - Couple In Hole Soundtrack - Again this is a limited edition coloured vinyl.

The next bunch of records don't need much of an intro. All three seasons of Hannibal split across 12!!! 140g LPs.

Impressive Sprite. 👍

Today's new album buy.
Can't believe I haven't even heard this previously as after the first listen I quite like it.

The Black Keys - Thickfreakness.

Top L-R.

Nirvana - In Utero 20th anniversary edition, 3 45prm 180gm lp's. (New)
The Cult - Hidden City, 2 45rpm 180gm lp's. (New)
Both of those above were picked up today during a 20% off sale at my local record shop.
Eric Clapton - Backless, original UK pressing. Bought from my friendly supplier at the market. Immaculate condition.

Bottom L-R

Santana - Inner secrets.
Santana - Zebop.
Santana - Marathon.

Not sure on the history of the Santana records (bought here) but going by the look (and smell ) I'm guessing original pressings, all in very good playable condition.

Bit of a question, what the general concensous of inner sleeves?
A bit of a search around the net and MoFi sleeves always seem to get a mention, some of mine are looking pretty sad.

the mofi sleeves are nice, but can get pricey. I do use them for some of my expensive albums. My cheap stuff i just use regular old plain whites that i order through amazon.

So you mean plain paper sleeves then @JerseyDriverSS or the type with plastic inside them as well.
I don't mind spending a bit on the MoFi sleeves but if there is something good enough at a lower price I'm happy to go with that. 👍

No just regular old plain white paper sleeves, nothing fancy. I'd send you a link of the ones i buy, but i forget my amazon password.

@Shaun I MoFi every record I own even some which others might consider junk.

You might want to hit up BagsXL as they sell inner and outer sleeves at super cheap prices. Not sure what delivery and tax costs might do on your order but it's worth checking out.

On another note these bad boys dropped today.

Datadisc 005 & 006. The Streets Of Rage 2 is on smokey black/clear vinyl and the OutRun is on a tri colour vinyl which is so beautiful to look at.

Thanks for the various info guys, found a place near by surprisingly that sell them cheaper than I can find online.
I'll get a pack to start with for my better albums and to replace the particularly bad sleeves I have mow.

Picked up some new stuff and some second hand stuff too.

Miles Ahead - Soundtrack // I've not had chance to spin this yet but if it's anything like the last album with Miles Davis by Robert Glasper then it's going to be a bit of a bad time. Ahh well I can't help myself.

One of my favourite score writers Cliff Martinez brings another cracker with The Neon Demon. This is a coloured 2LP one red and one blue.

The secondhand records bought all in great shape.

Plus 3 New Order 12" Singles

@JerseyDriverSS thats a nice looking deck and looks in pretty good shape.

@R0ssingt0n I have the repress versions of this and Closer. Would love an origina pressing but as you know they sell for quite a tidy sum.

If anyone is interested in Jazz, World, Fusion, Electronic & Indian music then you should check this album.

Day To Day - Sarathy Korwar

@R0ssingt0n is your copy of Unknown Pleasures black or dark red?

Here are some new buys over the last few days.

First are some Andy Stott. This is dark and dirty dub techno.

A copy of the new reissue of Since I Left You. Originals got for silly money so a reissue is welcome.

An original pressing of Idlewild by Everything But The Girl. It's in perfect condition.
image.jpeg

Just had a message from my manager at work who's just found this first pressing of NMTB.

image.jpeg

@Sprite its a black one, there's a red one going on eBay for like £450 but there's no way I could justify paying that much, not even for my favourite band

Yeh it's crazy how much they want sometimes. People are looking for £350 ish on discogs for that Sex Pistols my manager found.

I've been after a Jazz record and good copies are been asked for $2000!!!!!

@Sprite is he sure of it's history.
That's a notoriously difficult album to be certain of.
I came across an old version of it a few weeks back but after being unable to work out what it was from this passed on it as the price was pretty steep.

Does anyone have advice for buying used/new vinyl on ebay?

I was looking at this and was wondering if there was anything I should look for.

100% buddy. She bought it herself at release as she was a Punk at the time (she still as mad as a box of frogs)

As for condition I'm not sure how well it's held up as she will have played it quite a lot.

After looking through the list it's going to be the SPOTS 0001 version. I'm not sure if she'll still have the poster or sleeve sticker but could have.

Excellent stuff. 👍

I'm going to have another look at the one I mentioned as it's still there hidden in a cabinet to see if I can work out it's history.

I have it on CD but a good condition early pressing would be nice for the collection

Best advice i can give you is buy from me.

Seriously though just do your homework as there are deals to be had. You just have to know what your looking for. I've bought seriously under graded stuff and i've also bought very over graded stuff. Look at sellers other listings, if they primarily sell vinyl and have good feedback chances are you have nothing to worry about. If they sell anything and everything chances are it's not graded very accurately (You may get lucky, but chances are good you'll be disapointed.)

Picked this up today...

2013 Repress of Marillion - Clutching At Straws

image.jpeg

It's brand new. I picked it up from Relic Records in Leeds. I've never had a chance to look around this store before. While not big, it has a good selection of records.

I also stopped by Crash Records and while they have a load of records I want, they know how to charge for them.

Well, it's been a big day for vinyl for me.

First are a few recent buys in the last two days.

Sincronicity Soundtrack - it's a synth filled delight and is on Deathwaltz Records. They released a limited edition version on clear vinyl with a black splodge in the middle. However this is a standard black vinyl.
image.jpeg

Shelly Manne & His Men at The Manne Hole, despite sounding smutty this is a nice clean mono pressing of a double LP filled with lovely smooth Jazz.
image.jpeg

Next is Boy King by Wild Beasts. This is a synth pop record, it's got some nice moments but it's one I could live without. This version is the limited independent record shop one, it comes with a bonus 7" with extra tracks.
image.jpeg

One of the most anticipated albums to be released for me. The stunning to look at but as with all picture discs it's very noisy. But who cares just look at it.

Along with these records my SRM Tech Turntable Upgrades arrived. First is an acrylic platter mat which has a lable recess, and I also bought a platter dampening ring. This fits the outside of the platter and helps lower the noise floor with glass and aluminium platters.

Both these upgrades have opened up the sound from he vinyl and given more breathing room to instruments etc. Also the static levels have fallen so pretty happy with that too.

These images are not mine below.

There (SRM) ultimate series kit for my thorens looks really nice. I may just have to look into purchasing one depending on how much it will cost to get it over here to the US.
