Well I've just won 1000 outer sleeves from BagsXL for leaving a review!

Insane, what the heck am I going to do with all those. I already have about 450 left from my last order.

@Shaun after doing some checking, the Sex Pistols record turned out to be a second pressing and not a first. My manager was gutted, she already had plans on buying some shoes with the cash from the record.

We all know the answer to that one, just going to be very expensive.

Such a shame for her, it's a bit of a minfield that album with so many variations within pressings. I went back and had another look at the one I mentioned armed with some more knowledge , turned out to be a 5th pressing so gave it a miss.

Picked up a few records recently.

First up is the Hoodie sleeve variation of the recent reissue of "Operation: Doomsday" by MF Doom. I personally love this album and have other CD and vinyl variations.

The Junior Mance Touch is a fantastic Jazz Piano centric album. I little commercial than your average Jazz album but still great. This pressing also sounds fantastic.

Southern Scene by Dave Brubeck and his various ensamble sits a good album, not his best but pretty good. Unfortunately this record is in need of a good clean.
image.jpeg

This is an obscure find. It's a bootleg of a bootleg. The original bootleg is a Japanese CD and this is an Italian vinyl bootleg of that CD. Weird. It gets a bit stranger in that, this version has a Japanese rear on the sleeve.

This album should need no introduction. However this is a lovely version as it's the 20th anniversary one in a thick card sleeve and is on nice wax (there are various coloured versions but this is a black version) it also comes with a 1990 live recording too.

Stasis by Pye Corner Audio is a cracker of synth electronic music. If you like 80s synth music this is a beast. M

And to round out the recent buys is this. "And the anonymous nobody" by De La Soul. I'm. It sure what to expect, but I know it wasn't for a fantastic album but it is. I actually love this over Avelanches latest offering.

Snagged some cracking records, all in great condition. I also picked up these two, not Jazz but has a Jazz vibe and is by a great musician Florian Fricke of Popol Vuh.

image.jpeg

I was also asked to pick up this Bowie record for my fiancée. I'm not a fan of all his work and only like a few songs. As such this is the first in many I'm sure.

Wow great grabs. Hopefully for a good price. Some pricey stuff in there depending on the pressings of the blue notes.

@JerseyDriverSS prices varied, all the Jazz were under £15 some as low as £4... Apart from the Davis, £30 each for the Blue Note's. They are later pressings from '58 & '59 around 5 years after the originals. Still from the same masters and pressed in the USA.

The Florian Fricke was a little bit more at £33 but this is a Boxset with 2LP and a DVD. Bowie was £10.

I've actually just picked up 4 more records today.

Bill Nelson is a local boy done good so got this to go with the others I have and for a nice condition record £3 can't argue.

PCO are great and I'd recommend them to anyone looking for something laid back.

Two Bill Evans LPs. The top one is a first press but as this is a recent record (80s) it's not worth much and about what I paid. The bottom one as a reissue from the later 80s.

Long time no see, guys. Finally on to my next purchase, I pre-ordered Jeff Rosenstock's new album Worry which apparently has baby blue on one side and baby pink on the other, limited to 3000 pressings, unfortunately missed out on the bone/electric blue combination which is limited to only 400 pressings. I don't really care but it would've been kind of cool to have.

Apparently it'll look like this when it arrives at my door step next month.

If you're into pop punk and up-tempo sad songs then I highly recommend a little bit of Jeff in your life.

Some of the recent buys from me.

First is the recent re-issue of "Expert Knob Twiddlers", I managed to snag a limited edition copy on baby blue vinyl. It's a 3LP of expertly crafted IDM from the master Richard D James aka Aphex Twin and Mike Paradinas who runs Planet Mu records.

image.jpeg

I also picked up a few singles from Mark Pritchard & Bibio.

I also picked up some Japanese pressings of soundtracks from Deathwaltz Records on Discogs.

And after the incredible album Stasis from Pye Corner Audio I picked up a copy of the limited run on Deathwaltz of a single "Stars Shine Like Eyes". I ordered the neon pink version but got sent a dayglow green one instead.

image.jpeg

I also ordered a Japanese pressing of the "Dune" soundtrack but it wasn't posted and I'm talking with Deathwaltz about this.

I'm wondering, how many records do you have in your collection now, @Sprite?

I also grabbed a copy of Outkast's Speakerboxxx/The Love Below, 2010 reissue. Getting ready for summer get-togethers with friends and morning record sessions in the sun. :D

@Cap'n Jack I'm not sure, I'll have to check. I'd say I have quite a few, my fiancée would say too many. :D

@Cap'n Jack just checked and I'm at 593 vinyl mixed between 7" & 10" singles and 12" EP's, Singles & LP's.

Including this which was delivered today while I was at work.

Bwana - Capsules Pride

As you can see from the sleeve, this EP/LP is based on Akira movie soundtrack.

I went to the record store but only had a $20, but that was enough for a Rush album.

I also finally cracked and bought a magnet from the impulse area by the register.

I'm planning on going back there tomorrow as I hid a couple albums in the new arrivals section and am hoping they're still there.

Picked up a few more today.

1st pressing on U.K. vertigo spaceship lable. This particular copy has been miss labelled as Gentel Giant on side one. The music is Kraftwerk but not the label.

Clipping - Splendor & Misery

The latest album from a fantastic trio. Hip Hop with electronic/industrial edge & one of the fastest flows I've every heard. This is the Sub Pop Loser Edition on clear vinyl.

IMG_6402.JPG

Also picked up the instrumental version of Sour Soul by BadBadNotGood & Ghostface Killah. Being the instrumental version it's minus Ghostface's rapping. I have the album on Gold Vinyl.

Yep. Just jumped in a pool of jelly.

I keep forgetting I have this.

I believe my mother gave me this after doing some spring cleaning. Surprising what you find when you clean out your closet I guess. I have some other Depeche Mode goodies, but this was going on the player and I thought a picture of it would be nice to share.

Excellent stuff @neema_t. Word of warning it's very easy for the collection to grow very quickly.

Which reminds me I have made many purchases since last posting here, when time permits I'll get a few pics and put a post together.

I just bought my first turntable! Well, two days ago, and it arrived yesterday. It's a Marantz TT5005, brand new for £130. I've got precisely two records already but I'm going shopping on Sunday for some more. Can't wait!

You can't go wrong with a marantz. Welcome to the world of vinyl. It's quite a fun hobby.

@Shaun get those lovely black discs up here.

I picked up another two today.

First is Gonjasufi - A Sufi and A Killer

IMG_6452.JPG

Second is Talk Talk - Spirit Of Eden (repress with DVD album too)
