The nostalgia factor is high with this one! I've been meaning to expand my collection as it too is a little heavy on the classic rock. However it's a little hard when you can get a classic record for $4.

Also, Barn Find: Vinyl Edition.

Exactly, I spent 93 dollars at Barnes and nobles the other day on 3 albums (picked up bowies black star also). I'm used to buying buy the 100s for that price. And I've seen that article. That's a crazy haul for him. Who knows what's in there and sealed to boot.

Just a little self promotion here if you guys are ever looking for anything in particular (especially like the stuff above that @Vince posted) I do a lot of selling and have stuff like that sitting waiting for new homes. 99% of the time I'll smash a record stores prices since I have no overhead or bills associated with having a brick and mortar store. If you don't mind me asking @Vince what did you pay per lp for those?

I went and picked up the new Anthrax today and it reminded me of why Vinyl is so awesome!

Slip Cover that attracts fingerprints like crazy

Regular cover

It came with a mat as well, but it's thinner than the one that came with the turntable so I probably won't use it.

Awesome colors are awesome!

And just because it's impossible to only get what you went for...

Black Sabbath - Seventh Star
The Moody Blues - Every Good Boy Deserves Favor
Peter Frampton - Frampton Comes Alive!
Jethro Tull - Thick as a Brick (The cover is a little weathered, which gives it the perfect look)
Genesis - Genesis

Mm, depends - all the of records I purchased yesterday were between $3 and $7. Head Games and City to City are more worn than the others, while the Madonna record has a great sleeve and the inner lyric sheet both in great condition.
Cheap, right?

Other than the fact of some of them being so worn, I don't pay for a shipping cost, but I pay for me going to the store myself and spending time cherry picking. The record store here has strange hours that I can't accommodate to all the time and I still order records from eBay, especially some of the harder ones to find. eBay is a tad bit more expensive plus somewhere between a $3 - $5 shipping fee, but there's obviously more options. I'll happily shell out a decent amount of money if it's Rush, Black Sabbath, and some of my other favorite bands.

Don't know if you ever use discogs or not, but my seller name on there is the same as here. I figured you were a Sabbath fan after reading your signature. Right now my store is empty as i just sold a few hundred locally and it was easier to start from scratch.

Cool, I'll definitely take a look sometime. Thanks amigo!

Yeah his stuff is expensive. Really anything early to mid 90s brings good money (especially alternative rock i.e pearl jam is big money.)

I've noticed in my search for Alice in Chains on vinyl (Only Dirt and Unplugged seem readily available from their 90's work). They also had ...And Justice for All for $44, which I wish I had enough money at the time as that seems rather cheap compared to what I've seen online.

Hopefully Metallica's upcoming re-issues are a sign of things to come as far as acts that were big in the late 80's and 90's reissuing their stuff on vinyl.

Anyone fancy some of the 2016 RSD stuff?

I haven't had a look though the US list yet, but I've seen a few on the UK list I want.

RSD 2016

  • Cavern Of Antimatter - Void Versions
  • Clint Mansell & Kronos Quartet - Requiem For A Dream
  • John Coltrane - The Roulette Sides
  • Mike Oldfield - Nuclear (MGS Phantom Pain Picture Disc)
  • Oscar Peterson - Tenderly
  • Sun Ra - Spaceways
  • Sun Ra - Jazz By Sun Ra
  • Thelonious Monk - London Collection Vol 3
  • Judgment Night OST
  • Xiu Xiu - Xiu Xiu Plays The Music Of Twin Peaks

I've never been huge on the whole concept of Record Store Day, but there are a few things that interest me.

Anthrax - In the End/Antisocial
Buddy Guy & Junior Wells - The Criteria Sessions
Deftones - B-Sides & Rarities
Moody Blues - Moody Blues #1
Muse - Reapers
Star Wars Soundtrack single
Fort Minor - The Rising Tide
Linking Park - Road to Revolution

I'll have to talk to my local shop and see if it's even worth showing up as I've never taken part before.

It seems to be quiet here lately. Had some great picks this weekend. First is an original riverside chet baker from 1958. Dude wails on the trumpet, it also doesn't hurt that it's a very pricey album. Along in that pick I scored multiple blue note albums. Second pick I picked up a pioneer sx770 and an mcs turntable which is basically a technics sold through JC penny back in the day. Along with those came multiple beatles albums as close to mint as you can get without being still sealed.

I've got some vinyl on order but none has arrived. My local store has slowed down buying secondhand stuff ready for RSD.

I'll be able to post some stuff over the next few weeks hopefully.

I must have missed the Bob Marley, David Gilmour and Tom Petty eras of the Beatles.:P:lol:

Also, thankfully those turtlenecks haven't lasted as long as the record.:scared:

LOL guess I didnt mention those ones. That petty album is still sealed actually.

This was posted at the beginning of the week but I could only pick it up last night.

Well what can I say. I decided to play so music this morning. As usual I grab a pot of coffee and put on the record...

WTH!

The sound coming from the record was a garbled mess, I checked the amp, record turntable but couldn't find anything wrong, I then checked the stylus in case it needed a clean.

Someone had already got to it and it has been bent backwards!!!!! Close to being snapped off. So I decided there and then, it's either a new TT or cartridge for the old TT.

I decided I wanted both. I picked up a Audiotechnica AT-LP5 TT and an Ortofon 2MRed cartridge. All told, just shy of £420. I have to say for budget stuff they sound great. The TT has a built in phono stage (tried it but sounds weak) it also has USB (never going to use it). It's direct drive, not belt.

All in all, I'm happy with it and it will last until I move later this year hopefully and I'll be able to buy a Rega and dedicated Phono Stage.
