@Pinkintron how young does Geddy look on that picture. Such a baby face ha.

I'm not sure which albums they are but they're from recent albums. I know the last one is Kamasi Washington.

As promised some more pics of the very awesome Kamasi Washington - The Epic vinyl.

I knew it was a triple LP but I thought it would have been in a standard gatefold cover. To my and my local store it's in a lovely heavyweight card outer and the vinyl is in individual covers inside along with some nice liner notes which are frame worthy.

You've been on a Brainfeeder binge lately :D.

I've got about ~40 vinyl records, the rarest probably being a limited edition
Metallica 7" LP. Mine is #16 out of 500 copies.

Side A holds The Memory Remains and side B For Whom The Bell Tolls (remix).
There's another 7" in there too containing an interview.

Aside from that my three favorite vinyl records are these;

Left Kerry Livgren - Seeds of Change
Middle Wishbone Ash - Argus
Right Black Sabbath - Born Again

I found them all very cheap and in good condition.

Just a week or so ago I was searching the internet for one of my favourite albums to no avail. Suddenly, a repressing is announced and promptly made available online! The album is Strictly Rude by Big D and the Kids Table from 2007. I've got fond memories of listening to this with friends and it was my background music for GTA: San Andreas for some time. Easily amongst my all time favourite albums. My vinyl collection has a severe lack of ska punk, so that's a plus too.

Not happy about the Australian dollar right now though, makes ordering records online terribly expensive.

I finally had some extra money so I went to the record store to solve that.

Wishbone Ash - Live Dates

Blues Brothers - Briefcase Full of Blues

And my lone new purchase of the day...

The Sword - Age of Winters

I went and got a few "new" records today.

I also got one from a galaxy far far away...

They had the other two prequels as well but I didn't have enough cash on me. It seems there is some force making me want to go back tomorrow though with more money...

Edit: The liner notes are awesome, they tell you what part of the movie each track is for.

Got a few new albums today.

The Jimi Hendrix Experience - Electric Ladyland (Sadly it's taken this long for me to get a Hendrix album on Vinyl)

Queen - Sheer Heart Attack

IMG_0740.JPG

Fleetwood Mac - Fleetwood Mac

IMG_0741.JPG

Billy Squier - Emotions in Motion

IMG_0742.JPG

Bad Company - Run with the Pack

IMG_0743.JPG

The first two are new, the last two were only a couple bucks each so if they suck it's no big deal.

Picked up Michael Jackson's 'Thriller' recently. I've got too much punk rock and sad emo boy music so I'm starting to get some stuff to play at parties/gatherings. Next on the list is Outcast's 'Speakerboxxx/The Love Below'.

Spent far too much money recently on wax. This isn't even half of what I picked up but I'm sure I'll grab a pic of the rest later:

I whole heartedly approve of those records. Especially the total bargain that is Kamasi Washington. I have the album which is pretty much a Boxset of great Jazz and still costs the same as any other LP.

Wish You Were Here is great too.

As some might have seen, I've picked up Kelela's first album and latest EP. They both came with download codes so here you go.

As always let us know who downloaded what and if you liked the album. I'll have some picks of the records a little later.

Edit:

Two vinyl popped in today.

For those who like 80s electro synth stuff then you may like Magic Sword. They seemed to become more popular with the release of the Go Pro video "Streets of Japan"

Anyway they're releasing thier album on vinyl

I also bought FKA Twigs LP1 today.

Been looking at this thread since Cap'n Jack started it some years ago and thoroughly enjoying the plethora of different music in here.
Thought I'd slip my foot in surreptitiously by opening the last box of vinyl that remains in my possession. This is about a tenth of what I had when my collection was in its heyday.

A quick shot of my third record box. This was empty at Christmas!

It's crazy how quickly they mount up. To be truthful I need to slow down for a while as I'm saving for a house and at this rate I might find myself homeless with some nice records.

I figured I would post my latest purchase here as well. I could have easily dropped $300 on the "just arrived" used section alone, someone must have sold their collection recently. I can't remember everything that caught my eye, but I remember seeing Wheels of Fire (Cream), Sticky Fingers (The Rolling Stones), Tommy (The Who), ...And Justice for All (Metallica), the Heavy Metal soundtrack and a few others I can't recall at the moment.

Anyways, on to what I could actually afford.

IMG_0752.JPG

A Clockwork Orange - This is one of my favorite movies and I've always wanted the soundtrack, I just wish the cover was in a little better shape as I'm planning on buying some album frames in the near future. On a funny note there was a receipt in the sleeve from 1988, the person also bought Monster Mash.

Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs - This is perhaps my favorite non-Cream album involving Clapton so I snapped it up when I saw a used copy with good looking artwork.

Pilgrimage - I'm a fan of Wishbone Ash and their albums seem hard to come by on vinyl so this was an easy choice. Still hoping I can come by a copy of Argus.

I'm hoping to take some of my tax refund and finally get down to one of the bigger stores downtown so hopefully my next post will have more than a handful of albums.

This movie blew me away so much that I have the original VHS in shrinkwrap and a copy of the book. Never had the LP though have seen and heard the original in friend's homes. Another favourite at the time was Tommy.

As an older teen and then a young adult it was my record and book collection that suffered when I was down on cash. The second hand store nearby was only too glad to take my treasures for pennies. :(

The bit I have left is more connected with memories . . . it was a time music exploded with new genres . . .

And there is quite nothing like spinning a platter through a half-decent system.

Something I just remembered from a few years ago.
I was in a record store shuffling through some vinyls
when I recognised a guy next to me doing the same.
It was Leif Edling, founder and bass player of;

Back then I listened to Candlemass all the time so it
was like a house God standing next to me.
He was checking out this Camel album (another band I really like)
70's prog rock.

Shinobi 3 was picked up from my local store Wah Wah Records. For this record Data Disks used a Japanese Model 1 Mega Drive with an AV Intelligent Terminal and VA5 and a Yamaha YM2612 sound chip with Stereo output mod to capture the music at 24bit/96kHz. They are really going all out for the recordings of these soundtracks.

And speaking of going to great lengths, this is my copy of Kind Of Blue which MoFi took 2 years doing from the original masters. According to the reviews I've read and watched this is hands down the best version of this seminal Jazz record.

I love it when companies still do Vinyl properly. These days far too many mainstream releases are just being pressed from the same loud digital masters as the CD, just with the overall volume reduced to prevent skipping.
