Managed to survive a 3hour adventure in the "mall" today without hearing it.

In fact, I'm going quite well to have dodged almost all forms of Christmas songs this year 👍

Time for an update, its not good news. I was Whamed!, quite badly too. As some may know, I work in a supermarket and with the first day of December came the Christmas music. 24 minutes into my shift today, at 10:24, Last Christmas was played. And then again at 11:12, and again at 12:48, and once again at 1:31, and yet again at 2:43, and again at 4:06 and once more for good measure at 6:19.

I'm doing all if my Christmas shopping online this year, so I should be safe. Though I do need to go to PC World to buy a mouse, which I don't want to do online. That could be scary.

Oh man, supermarkets are off limits now...thanks for the heads up.

Off limit areas: Super markets/ shopping centres, normal regional radio, family Christmas gatherings involving music, pubs playing music, TV ads, Christmas markets/ fêtes, anywhere without a quick exit or ear plugs.

Oh my! That's a proper whamming.

Got a story for you guys :sly:

SO! There I was. Doing my job as a Sandwich Artist (don't ask. don't laugh), performing my duties (ok, I said "duties", you can laugh now). As my shift came to an end, I glanced over the clock on the wall, and counted my final minutes left until I could taste freedom. Not gonna happen... :grumpy:

My manager, decides that it would be a great idea if I stick around for an extra hour, and help out with some boxes. Fair enough. It's only one hour and I can easily do that. Besides, I'm getting more money! :dopey:

Little did I know that fate had a small surprise in store for me...after lifting boxes, and play tetris with said boxes for 30 minutes, I move on to do some cleaning. I start by washing some dishes and what not. Half way done and I hear something...it was kinda, cool...

At first I was going "hey! Nice beats. Imma gonna shake ma butty and let the good times fly! :sly: " But then, the stronger side of my brain kicks in and tells me that THIS. IS NOT. SAFE!

As it happens, I hear the famous "...I gave you my heart" verse...all is lost! I drop a plate in shock. Little shards everywhere.

But wait! There's moar!! As it happens, this was a Benny Benassi remix. Hence, the cool beats at the beginning. I later went on youtube to check if such song really exists, and guess what? It does. Check it at your own risk.

So...I'm SAFE! But that was a really close call. Sad that the life of a place had to end for the sake of my victory. :sly:👍

It would have been a really disaster, since I was planning to at least make it until December, and that was the last day before it. Now I score two little victories. 1) Beat my wife to it. And 2) Survive at least until December 1st.

Now, every day that passes it's an added bonus! Let's see how many I can collect!

Day 31.

George of the Michael has not yet violated Katiegan's ears.

Panicked last night as 'Fairytale of New York' came on BBC Radio 2 as her dad was decorating the living room. Escaped quickly with her mum to top up on paint at B&Q. Listened to BBC Radio 1 in the car and instead raved to Annie Mac.

The battle continues.

I spotted the street decorations going up on my way home today. :scared: No doubt some of the shopping centres will be blasting Xmas tunes in the run-up. Even in China I'm not safe.

At 2.43pm GMT today, driving through Aldermaston listening to the car radio, I was Whammed! :(

Unlucky, I get around the car radio issue by just cycling everywhere :D

However, today was pretty scary. My tennis club has turned its top courts into an ice rink. Since it's Christmas, all they play are cheesy Christmas songs. My tennis is then situated about 20 meters away, on the lower courts in the bubble. Thus an hour into my lesson, whilst waiting around on the court, I heard the line 'last Christmas, I gave you my ...'. At this point my heart sank. However, I carried on listening. Then to my utter joy, I realised it was a woman singing. It was the Taylor Swift cover, and I was still in it.

I may have danced around the court slightly

Do people HAVE to listen to the radio in the car?

I've never even bothered to tune my radio so that it works. It's just white noise. If I want to listen to Radio Four, that's what iPlayer is for. Otherwise, I just plug my iPod into the speakers.

It does seem a bit ridiculous, unless you didn't shell out for iPod connectivity. Then it's understandable to listen to the radio instead, even with the terrible consequences at this time of year. If your not driving, you should take precautions and stick the headphones in!

Perhaps not all of us are fancy enough for an iPod port. My 53 plate doesn't have an iPod port! :scared:

I work in a shop and regularly walk around other shops and I still haven't heard it. Genuinely amazed with myself.

Whammed again!!
Walked into McDonalds (voted the worst one in England a few years back) with my friends with my music on, took off my headphone and BAM Last Christmas was playing.
Twice in two days! :(

You think my original whamming at Arby's was bad?

Well, my mom made the song her text ringtone, so from now till Xmas, I'll be Whammed 30-50 times a day.

=(

I've been playing along, but apparently I forgot to post that I was doing so. So far so good, despite the constant threat of shopping.

O thought I had posted, but I couldn't find my post. If it even exists. In other news, I'm still in the clear, my Walmart doesn't play music.

Went on another day trip yesterday; must've heard every Christmas song imaginable - but, again, not Wham!

I'm starting to get over-confident... :D

Danger close.

I have come doing a weekends work at my old firm helping out. They have real radio on, :gulp:, playing Christmas songs intermittently, I know its going to happen.

I heard the Live Aid song, heard George and thought that was me whammed. Turned out I'm safe, for now.
