4 isn't countless.
4? That's the amount of times I just got Whammed! in the last 20 minutes while going to the shop.

  1. Walk past school having Christmas party with windows open - the lovely sound of George and Andrew wafts towards my ears.
  2. Guess what Sainsbury's were playing?
  3. Waiting to cross the road - drive by Whamming!
  4. Walk past house with window open. Whammed!
Basically, I need to buy a new set of headphones, I'm reduced to one ear at the moment.

Time to edit the avatar.

I just got Whammed, a warning for UK users an advert for "Now that's what I call: Christmas" is showing and because it's the 1st song on the advert you get no warning, it is shoved in your face so get the mute or fast forward button ready on the adverts.
Covered many a time in the thread already.

Oh no... These commercials also air in the U.S :scared:

So, er...I'm still with no real scare thus far...but we have our Christmas do in work on Saturday....although we are all going out clubbing sooooo......

It's not your year in GTP v Wham! Is it?

I'm starting to think that this would make a fun drinking game. :P

Take a shot everytime Jim gets Whammed.
Good thing I can't drink yet.
Lost from the link in @TB 's signature. Curiosity killed the cat Noob I guess
You should have read it more clearly. It says "You do not want to click this" and he's not lying.

It's been mentioned before here.

Still managing... none so far... fortunately I'm a work-from-home-recluse at the moment and do most of my shopping in a local Asian supermarket, I don't know what the music is but Wham it ain't :)

I'm imagining a Japanese cover of Last Christmas and if I'm honest, I'd rather be Whammed.
If it is a Japanese cover of Last Christmas, than I wouldn't mind because it wouldn't count as a Whamming.

Despite a (Weak) attempt by someone, I've managed to avoid the Whaminator.

TB
Sure about that?

:scared:

Not because a Japanese cover is necessarily better, but because it wouldn't count as getting Whammed. That's all I care about in this competition. This crazy, crazy, competition. Or whatever we're calling it.

It's a lifestyle.
For maybe about two months every year. At least officially. I think someone here mentioned a self imposed challenge of avoiding Last Christmas for the entire year. That should totally be a thing. But keep the usual year end November/December competition/lifestyle/thing regardless.

My wife was driving me for my procedure at the hospital this morning and her radio had some country cover of Silver Bells playing. I turned it down and she asked why. I explained that I didn't want to hear horrible country versions of Christmas music. Go classic or go home (This was true). That is when she said, "It's Merry Mixmas, not a country station. They play all Christmas music."
Uh-oh. I had to think fast. "The Mariah Carey version of Santa Baby isn't exactly better."
"Fine, connect your phone and play your music. I just need something to keep me awake."

And that is how I avoided even risking getting Whammed.

That was me. I stole the idea of this challenge from a German gaming forum where the challenge runs several years longer than here. The original challenge went from 1st advent (2014 = 30th November) until "Christmas is over". After all, the name of the song is "Last Christmas" and not "This Calendar Year" or "Last Christmas Plus The Remaining Days Of The Year". At first the users argued when Christmas is actually over (24th, 25th or 26th December?). That's different from region to region. Some users then got whammed between Christmas was indeed over and the end of the year. Some of them posted they feel like they lost. Some other users even said the only way to really win the challenge is to avoid the song the whole year. Usually the TO makes the rules. That's the reason why the challenge starts earlier every year. The thread should usually be openend shortly before 1st advent (2015 = 29th November). In 2014 Daniel opened the topic, so he makes the rules (see post #1).

K. Regardless of when the GTP vs. Wham 2015 formally starts, I still might take the self imposed challenge of avoiding the song for a whole year. Just to say I did it.

I need to survive easy-mode before moving up

Wham'd myself, still kicking myself over it. Next year's challenge can't come soon enough.
