They want to stand out (maybe). I've considered using red text soon.

I did that for a while. Gets annoying to do all the time an it's tough on the eyes.

And you have to manage your BB code. Gotta watch out when embedding things in your posts.

As a recent Premium Member, a gift from one DrKronin, I am very interested in the site rebuild. As I plan to sign up for a lifetime membership, once my one year gets close to expiration, I am interested in any pricing changes that may be initiated after the site has been upgraded?

I'm also enthusiastic about the mobile compatibility aspect of the new site, especially since I've upgraded my phone from the Evo 4G to the Galaxy S4 and discovered the auto log in feature that worked on the Evo, doesn't on the S4.

Exciting news. Sounds like this will be an amazing advancement for GTP!

So, this change and all it entails is just fine and dandy, but enquiring minds want to know, will we finally have a decent sized collection of emoticons? I know, asking the hard hitting questions, but someones got to.

39 isn't a decent sized collection of emoticons?

Will we be able to edit our own polls after posting them in the new version of the site? On occasion I make a mistake in the BWPC polls and currently have to ask one of the Moderators to fix it for me, so I am curious if that aspect will be changing or remaining the same.

Or to be able to remove it when it's done and add another. Bit annoying having an old poll on a thread from 5 months back etc.

:P Jordan, you should've never created this thread, you'll need to make a bigger FAQ now.👍

This might be a dividing question, but would there be any chance of Facebook video integration? I like to post my videos here and on FB for friends, and having to upload to both Youtube AND Facebook takes a very long time, and amount of videos depending can take a few days. They do give direct links, but currently there is no way to embed them.

Exactly why I said it could be a dividing thing. If not it's fine, but it would make things a world easier.

There won't be any price changes for Premium service immediately when the new site launches. That will likely change over the course of the next year, though.

There won't be a significant change to the smilie line-up.

There will be no immediate changes to polls, but user poll deletion is definitely something I'm looking into.

Yes. In addition to YouTube, you'll be able to directly embed videos from Facebook, Dailymotion, LiveLeak, Metacafe, and Vimeo by simply copying and pasting the URL of the video page into your post.

How is this going to affect Premium membership, if at all? From what I can tell 3 of the Premium 'perks' will be lost with this update (PMs, 500mb web space, 20mb for post attachments). Personally I'm not concerned about it as it's nice to support the site and the perks are just that, an added bonus, but I'm curious about any possible changes.

@jordan

Oh my lord. Thank you so much. That just made everything so much easier!!!!

Will watching videos embedded here from Facebook require having a Facebook account?

Will there be any improvements to the search facility?

Hey Jordan,

So far everything sounds like a big step forward 👍

I do have two questions for you.

First, is there a way to export thread content from the Groups and Clubs? The S.N.A.I.L. Stewards group has a large amount of history we'd like to keep and having an export facility would help us a lot.

Second, we're building an Incident Review system with Google docs and it will include a
notification facility. Will the new site have a pm api?

EDIT: Got off my phone and read through the whole thread. No more pm's, but you can have private threads. Revision to question 2, Will the new site have a private thread api? :D

Thanks,

kcheeb

No major changes to Premium membership will go live when the new site launches, but they will come later. I should note that customized user profiles are also not supported by the new software.

The main reason I'm not hesitating to bring the 'perks' you mention to all members, is because they will essentially improve the site overall by making it considerably easier for everyone to post and share more engaging content for you, the power users, to read and interact with. Threads will be more interesting, and you'll never get stuck trying to message someone with a 'full' PM Inbox anymore.

No, a Facebook account won't be required to view public videos. Of course, if the user's privacy settings limit who can see their content, those restrictions will be applied to videos embedded here as well.

A new search engine will be brought online a few weeks after the new site is launched.

I'm sorry, unfortunately there is no way to batch export contents from Groups discussions, and the new PM system will not have an API.

If it's any consolation, once the new site is launched I will finally be able to start work on new tools I have planned which will streamline the process of managing racing leagues here.

:( Sorry to hear that, I guess we best get identifying the threads we need 💡

Looking forward to seeing what's happening with league management! And, please don't make our spreadsheets obsolete ;)

Thanks for the quick response!

Seems interesting. Can't wait to see.

Is this new software still going to be vBulletin based or will it be an entirely different forum platform?

Will any allowances get a bump?, I would love to see the avatar sized limit increased even if its slightly because they haven't changed for nearly a decade now I think.

Looking forward to the next GTP :) 👍 seen a few over the years. Thank you Jordan.

Quite frankly gutted about the removal of the app tomorrow.

Hopefully you'll remake another decent IOS app though! :)

It's not being removed. It's being removed from the Google Play store and App Store - you can still use it until the site changes.

There'll be no need for it. The site will automatically optimise for your device:

The mobile apps will be replaced by the new site itself, which is fully responsive and highly optimized to offer a full (and fast!) experience on all types of smartphones, tablets, and PCs.
