Hehe, Dad done some thing at work where he picks out some names from a hat and puts £2 bet on the 3 teams he picks out. He picked Iran, Germany and France! So no matter what happens now, he's going to get some money from France, and maybe something from Germany for going as for up as they did. He said he's going to spend his winnings on treating us all with a curry. :D

They were beaten by a Trezuguet goal in extra time, not penalties.

I think Fatass is referring to USA94 when Brazil won after Baggio blasted the ball over the bar during the penalty shootout.

Yeah, but I'm recalling Eurocup 2000 as well. I could've SWORN they were in penalty kicks. All I know is that Buffon was all alone and in grey.

Yo, I think I kind of made Spock looks like Zidane. Zidane would make an AWESOME pirate.

I think Arsenal should just play for France in the next one.

What happened with Pires, anyway? Is he even on the french squad? I would LOVE to see Pirlo and Pires on the pitch at the same time with Dave O'brien announcing. The audience would wig out from all the confusion.

All the African's, swiss, spanish and 3 English players at Arsenal probably wouldn't like to play for france though.

Also Domenech doesn't like Pires and they have better players to play in those positions anyway. Also Pirlo and Pires don't look the same. Oh and Pires plays for Villareal now and not Arsenal.

Anyway Italy can eat a butt and ALEZ LES BLEUS AND ZIZOU!

Their names look the same. They're similar enough for O'brien to botch, anyway. I was waiting for him to slip up and call someone weinerschnitzel during all the germany games he announced.

Oh wait, now you come to mention it, I never realied that. Maybe you should get Brian McBride to commentate for you in the next world cup!

Here's my predictions: France first, Italy second, Germany third, and those diving fairies fourth. 👍

No way Italy is losing the final...I bet you Lippi will start Alessandro del Piero, he just can't stay in the bench anymore!, everytime he comes in, he's like a pillar to our offense...and we better have our best offense out there to beat guys like Thuram and Barthez. We have been good on defense, but the final is on sunday and we have to wake that spirit up again.

BTW, Buffon is waaay better than Barthez.

My bet : Mr.OzzyGT becoming a premium member due to Italy's win of 2-0 on France.

Ciao e buona fortuna Francia :mischievous:

Your pick for the Golden Ball? Comments?
Here are the candidates*:

Thierry Henry (FRA)
Patrick Vieira (FRA)
Zinedine Zidane (FRA)
Michael Ballack (GER) - The Attacking Midfielder made it onto the list, yet he never scored a goal...:odd:
Miroslav Klose (GER)
Gianluigi Buffon (ITA)
Fabian Cannavaro (ITA)
Andrea Pirlo (ITA)
Gianluca Zambrotta (ITA)
Michael Manniche (POR)

*This time round, only those who reached the last 4 (Semi-Finals) are elegible, decided by the FIFA Technical Study Group (TSG).

Vive La France! et Les Bleus

Zambrotta? Mr. Own Goal? No, sorry.

If Henry plays a fantastic game, it'll be Henry, Zidane, or Buffon. If Henry and france play like total crap, it'll be Zidane, Buffon, or Cannavaro.

Oh, sorry. Then, yeah, Zidane or Buffon. Probably Buffon, though. Who's getting the Golden Boot?

If you have a fantasy team, Zambrotta is by far the highest contributor of points to it...

Even though I like Buffon, I'm a bit surprised Barthez isn't on the list. Yes, Buffon only conceded one goal, an own goal, but he's had to make too many saves. Maybe he's having trouble organising the back line? (Crucial in keeping BTW). Barthez, on the other hand, seems to have kept his back line dead tight, thus his *relative* dorment state (compared..well...to Buffon's 20-30+ saves already). He also seems to be dealing with crosses a lot better than Buffon. Sure, he's a little unorthodox at times, (:scared: &, :nervous...:embarrassed:), but he does the job.

Consider Ballack lucky aswell...

If I remember correctly, Oliver Kahn won it last time around. Keepers can win it, but I doubt they'd have two in a row.
Yeah, Kahn won in 2002 but that's the bad thing about awarding the player before the final match. I bet if they did it after Brazil's win Ronaldo would probably get it, or someone else, because Kahn didn't perform well in that match.
