GTR from concept to production *finally comes to an end* or just the beginning =D

You're looking probably in the range of 100K as well. Who knows.

So many rumors - and photochop of the next GTR. Can't wait for the real unveiling of the new GTR.

Infiniti I think nissan will launch it to compete with toyotas release of lexus.

Well thats crap, if they release it in Australia as Infiniti I dont know how well it will do as hardly anyone here know what Infiniti is, but Nissan has alot of respect especially GTR as they raced them here.

They haven't decided if they'll use the infinity badge yet, if they do it will likely be for the US only.

skylineGTR_guy
word from nissan so far is less than 100 more than 60

Hiya! :D :embarrassed:  Meow! (='.'=)

I like the pricing on that! Hopefully it will be the way you say it is! :embarrassed: 👍 And also, I love that picture of the GTR you posted up there. :embarrassed:

Is anyone else annoyed by the spelling of INFINITI?

Being that my dad has an Infiniti I30T - I get annoy when people mis-spelled it.

Infiniti = Nissan's luxury brand
Infinity= Company that does sound systems (I think)

If this ends up being the production model in a few years and if the Japanese variant looks better and meaner, then this is another "uglyification" of a cool car. I liked how they didn't take the Cadillac route and make tall headlights. The first few images from the first post look pretty cool, but I'm not really a fan of this more subtle variant. The Skyline 350 in Japan (or whatever it's called) is a big deviation from the R34 Skyline. If I worked for Nissan, I'd combine the meanness of the R34 Skyline, provide some soft lines of America's G35, and combine them to make a car that's mean even though it doesn't look like it. Homies, that's called a "sleeper car." It's too early now, but I think we'll see something either completely amazing, or something to really excite performance-minded folks.

Oh, and I'm not really annoyed by proper spelling of a car company's name or name of a car. I'm not a usual follower to the Nissan forums, so I probably won't be seeing all kinds of updates. Only reason why I heard about the next GT-R was from (a buddy of mine on GTPlanet).

i think they should reintroducie a flat 6 as thats worked all the way up to 1000bhp and in most of the 1990-2001 jgtc cars. plus i think the should not make the next gt-r a infini because its not a real nissan.

Keeping the inline 6 was an option and wouldn't have been a bad one, bu it's not progress, it's time for a change, you can't run the same engine for ever. And no I don't think it should be called infiniti (rollazn ;)) because it IS a real Nissn, Nissan are making it, I personally think t could be it's own brand though.

I think the next GTR will be too expensive to be a Nissan! :embarrassed: ;)

Thats a good point, it will be more expensive than previouse GT-R's (not counting special NISMO versions ofcourse). You could use the same reason not to badge it an Infiniti though, I think they should give the GT-R it's own brand reserved for state of the art performance cars only.

some news on the GT-R...sorta
it was posted in the August 2005 Car and Driver (page 89):

Infiniti GT-R
What it is:
Next iteration of Nissan's super-sports car, the twin-turbo, all-wheel-drive Skyline GT-R, to date never sold in the U.S. Price and performance will demand an Infiniti badge in the U.S. The spy photo (left) shows a tweaked G35 coupe body, but expect to see racier body-work on the GT-R
Based on: Modified version of Nissan's FM-platform, which underpins the Infiniti M45 and Nissan 350Z, among others.
Powertrain: Twin-turbocharged 450-hp, 3.5 liter V-6. Six-speed manual. Nissan's ATTESA E-TS AWD.
Preceded by: Nissan GT-R concept from the 2001 Tokyo show.
Competition: Acura NSX, Chevrolet Corvette, Porsche 911.
Estimated arrival and cost: Late 2007 or early 2008, $70,000

sorry for the ****ty pic...i didnt have access to a scanner, or a decent digi. cam. (i had to use the camera on my cell phone...:-\

Considering how good the last ones were there is a high chance we can expect too much from the next one which would lead to a level of dissapointment.

As for the styling, it won't look like a V35, thats a test mule nothing more. We won't see the styling until later this year, Nissan have looked at a lot of feedback from pelople on the different concepts and designs shown so I think the design would be to plenty of peoples tastes.

Exactly, the S13 Silvia was the test mule for R32 Skyline GTR's drivetrain.

Hiya! :D :embarrassed:  Meow! (='.'=)

Out of curiousity, does anyone in here at least have some bit of feeling there could be some dissapointments in the next GTR? :odd:

Considering anything bought here is detuned and buttuglied I figure this GT-R will simply be a rebadged G35 so I'm not expecting too much. I'm sure Japan will have a full fledged GT-R though.

Well, if it comes out in Japan it'll make its way here sooner or later so I'm not complaining. Hopefully they sell it new here and we dont have to wait a few years for 2nd hand imports to come in.

somemore "news" about the GT-R from the August 2005 issue of Motor Trend:

NISSAN GT-R
NÜRBURGRING TRACK
tests of the twin-turbo 450-horsepower, 3.5 liter V-6 GT-R under the Skyline (Infiniti G35) body shell indicate a production version could be ready to make a November Tokyo Motor Show debut. This mule's G35 sheetmetal has been modified to fit huge tires and has been fitted with a big front dam. The new GT-R will have intelligent all-wheel drive, allowing torque splits ranging from 100 percent to the rear wheels to a 50/50 front/rear. Nissan hasn't decided whether the GT-R will be sold in the U.S. as a Nissan or an Infiniti, but plans to Americanize the car with softer suspension and a 4.5-litre V-8 have been quashed, although Infiniti could get softer 3.5-liter and 4.5-liter V-8 versions if the full-house GT-R goes to Nissan dealers. Pricetag will be in the $70,000 ballpark.

sorry again for the pic quality, still dont have a scanner or a digicam

Hiya! :D :embarrassed:  Meow! (='.'=)

You know what....I honestly cannot stand this anymore!!! I want to see how the GT-R looks really badly!!!! :embarrassed: This is like THE Legend from Japan is finally coming to American shores and now we can see what the successor of the GT-R can really do!!! :embarrassed:

If I do get one, I would be glad to drive it everyday and would like to see the jealous faces of the ricers! WHO IS WITH ME? :odd:

Not long to go now, they did say t will be unveiled at the Tokyo show which starts on October the 21st. If current business goes well with me the next GT-R is definitely a car I'll be considering.

Hiya! :D :embarrassed:  Meow! (='.'=)

I really think the GT-R is definately going to be worth it with all those new technology. The only problem I am concerned about is the looks of it and so far we don't know the final design yet. :embarrassed:

I think we'll be suprised, in a good way. Nissan have been monitoring all the feedback for the conepts and scetches, monitoring fan sites and they've been doing surveys just to make sure they get the looks right.

I hope you are right! 👍 It sounds good that Nissan have been monitoring all they can to please us. I am hoping for the the red one that looks futuristic! :embarrassed: 👍 What I mean is that red one in the Japanese magazine with the girl on it. I really like that one! Look at page 1 to see what I want! :embarrassed:

This one.?

I think it looks a bit like the Audi LeMans concet.
