My D2 Race report

Started 2nd, finished 1st
Despite being gutted at missing out on D1 at one of my favourite tracks where I was entirely capable of lapping some competitive times, I was looking forward to this D2 race, although for me, the start of the race was the most action-packed part of it.
Starting behind Owens, I was eyeing up a juicy battle with him for the lead, but as we came to the line, I was a bit late on the throttle and Lynchy was right by me, and had me on the inside down at the first corner, into 3rd I went. In the next few corners I was right behind him, keeping the pressure on although not making any risky overtaking moves, and into the fast left-hander before the back-straight, Lynchy and Owens made mistakes, with Lynchy going off-track and Owens recovering the car just as I was shooting up to his inside up at the entry to the corkscrew. I backed off however as I just wasn't in the right position to overtake there, and Owens seemed to slide going into the corner, and span out as I narrowly got past on the outside. After that I was rapidly pulling away from 2nd place and managed to gain a meaty lead which gave me the breathing space to just drive some consistent fast laps around the track. Talking of laps, my fastest was a 1'21:700, which wasn't the fastest I could do, but my consistency around the track was great and it was a worthwhile compromise.
Soon enough I'd caught up to the back pack of the GT300's and smoothly got round them all, and all I can say is thank you to the GT300 racers as they were very generous with giving me room to pass, sometimes a bit too much as it looked like some would be giving me room around the corkscrew or the fast left-hander, where I would just back off and wait for a chance to pass on the straights, as those corners were just too tight for that in my eyes and I didn't want to ruin anybody's race unnecessarily. I reached Hortus eventually who had a sizeable lead in GT300 by the looks of things, around the time my tires had started to reach a kind of "cliff". My times would be quite smooth and be within 2 seconds of each other until the last few laps of my stint where they would suddenly 'go' and I'd be feeling like a sitting duck being so slow around the corners. I pitted on Lap 17 (Going for a 2-stopper), and in my second stint I mostly lapped some back-markers of GT500 and a lot of GT300's. I pitted again on Lap 33, but going in I had a little twitch in my hand which caused me to cut the little corner at entry to the pits and almost went into the barrier, which seemed to mess with my GT5 a bit. Going in, my cursor had shown up with nothing else there, then the fuel and tires menu quickly appeared then vanished, I was petrified that I'd get stuck in the pits seeing this happen and what has happened to others. Thankfully that didn't happen, but I wasn't able to change fuel load, so I was praying that I'd be able to make it to the finish without having to pit again. Coming out, I was 13 secs ahead of Lynchy, who started to gain a little bit until I got into a solid rhythm again and, judging by the rate at which his times behind me increased, his tyres were starting to really degrade. I had also caught up to Owens in this time, and I did want to overtake him, but I didn't really have the energy or the will to really hammer it around those corners again to catch up, and he seemed to be on fresher tyres, so I let him go unscathed
All in all a smooth win for me, and proof for myself that I can be fast and consistent, now I just need to sort out my Qualifying technique..

Well done to the winners in D1, but also unlucky to the disconnecters, including Wardez, that is just rotten luck. I didn't have the same problem, but not so long ago, one of the main Telecommunications and Internet providers in the UK, BT, came to perform some 'maintenance' on a telegraph pole on my street, and ended up knocking out just our internet completely, and it took them about a week to send another guy to fix it

You pay these guys a lot of money for decent service, yet they can't even achieve anything near that quality..
That's me done, is it another two-week break now? It's my 18th on Friday, so I'll probably be going on a night out in town to have some perfectly legal and respectable 'fun'...
