I know why I hate Monaco.
With my driving style I like a pointy controlled oversteer car. But I'm having issues with the 500s with rear grip. I just can't feel the rear in them :/. Tried various setups and I just think its the nature of the car. So with this lack of confidence I jam the throttle on off until I know the rear has grip and won't spin me off into the wall. This is bad for the streets of Monaco, and explains why my pace was so bad for the Nurburgring.
Anyone who's watched me lap will verify I have a strange throttle application, Killa especially.
But this lack of confidence in the car is what makes this series great for me. I know I'm developing as a driver and adjusting my style to suit the car. There's no point I feel in racing with something I fully know what it's going to do, as I don't get better that way. Yes sure it's fun to go in it every now and then to set some blistering laps, but I wouldn't want to enter a long series with it.
Much like basketball. I rarely miss a layup, is good to practice them to keep the skill there, but what use is a player who can only make layups? That's why I practice my jumpshot, it's much harder, more frustrating than a layup, but makes you a better all-round player (someone tell Blake Griffin).
