Sure, whatever you think is fairest. :)
Well rolling starts were, but they were messy and people who needed to practice them didn't turn up so that's out of the question. I need to ask otherwise it will bite me when people start complaining. I don't want to let the starts be of free choice, as the Nissan/Toyota grab a 2 second lead and with no one to touch them the gap increases while people behind fight and lose time. We can't monitor the gearbox settings or gearbox ratios so the best thing is to minimize the advantage.

But I need people to agree or any other suggestion please.

i don't like the 2nd gear starts as you can easily make 2nd gear pull as well as if it were a 1st gear. i would either like a standard start or a pace lap. after all it was free car choice

A driver in first gear can come from the back, hit the front of the grid and have a second lead. It is free car choice but this will ruin the race for me as well as many others. I'm not spending an entire race chasing someone who shouldn't be that far ahead legitimately.

Rolling starts are a mess and I don't trust anyone to do them properly so may as well leave it as is.

The only way I can see of doing this is as stated a 'safety car start'. The rolling starts were awful, people were braking on he main straight and people kept crashing into me. If everyone is single file, leader determines pace in sector 3 and they accelerate before final turn so they reach race speed.

EDIT - There's no point. My money is on noir to win this season then 👍

Here's a thought:

What's the consistency and drop off between the FRs and FFs? Is it a massive disparity?

Could adjust the BoP a tad to incorporate slightly less power and/or slightly more weight on the FRs... bring the lap times slightly down on the FRs to ensure that a 2-second launch advantage and degradation advantage CAN be caught by the FFs over the course of a race, without factoring driver consistency.

If the issue lies more with the people involved than with the actual process, then it's a stewarding issue. If you hit people or do things that compromise your positions come the double file, then expect a penalty coming your way. The formation lap transitioning to rolling start solves the problems with the FR > FF standing starts, the people just need to learn how to do them right.

Looks great filo thanks mate, i'll make that mandatory for people to watch. That's the best way for us to do it, based on the start/finish line.

I agree noir mate. I'm not going to worry too much. Those who will be 'competitors' there say will be able to do this fine 👍

I feel for ya mate, if things go bad on a formation lap, your inbox is gonna be full of incident reports

Being taken out turn 1 is one thing, but the formation lap? People kept hitting me up the side and rear as we were going round. Shake my head.

No need for brakes to check your speed, just feather the throttle. (Y)
Yep, why you need to accelerate to 80MPH then slam on the brakes to 20MPH is beyond me. If everyone leaves a gap as we go around, then leader can bunch everyone up as we exit the final turn.

Anyone else staying up to watch the 24 Hours?
Planned to and was all ready to lol, but my grandmother wants to come down tomorrow so that means I have to get some sleep as I can't sleep all day. 4 hours is enough, right? :P ill record it anyway so I don't miss a minute, although it's an awful year to be a webber fan :(

Ah well, I'll make sure I do next year. May try hold an all night party or something.

I watched the whole 24 hours last year (barely moved haha). But been busy today, so only caught bits of it. Gonna see how late I can stay up until. :P

I'm stuck between Touring cars, Le Mans or F1. When I heard Toyota were doing well I thought I'd stay.

I'm a Porsche (especially webber) fan. I didn't want Toyota to win and hoped they had a problem with 90mins or an hour to go, but not that. I feel awful for them. :( But that's why this is the best race in the world.
