[GUIDE] Historic Racing Car Cup

I did this in the RM Challenger. Found it easier than with the Camaro, with the slight power upgrade.. SUCH a fun race. I guess I'll need a 2J to win the B-spec event though..

The 2J is not necessary to win this event in B-Spec. A 330 P4 + any rival 2J not in first before the last corner most likely will make this race very winnable.

The reason I say this is because the 2J, over all other cars, tends to pass at the end of the straights into corners. Two of the corners it chooses to pass in, the Nouvelle Chicane and Anthony Noghes, can't be driven deep into, or else one car will smack the chicane head on. The 2J does this often if it is stuck in traffic.

Maybe this will be of some help..... Helped me out:

••• The BASICS •••
After the 1.05 update we are now allowed to backup and restore our game saves. But in the update, they reduced the number of cars you can gift to ONE/day. But you can receive as many gifts as you want.
In this thread, I will explain how to use these options to maximize your money and cars on your way to owning 1000 cars.

••• GENERAL HOW TO •••

••• Backup Your Game Data •••
To BACK UP your gamesave you will need any kind of thumb-drive or external hard-drive plugged into your PS3. At the PS3 XMB go to the GAME column and up to GAME DATA UTILITY. Now select GT5. Your game save should come up, it will tell you your Current Car, Money, and the day number. Press the TRIANGLE and select COPY. It will ask where do you want to copy it. Select the usb drive. Your game save is now backed up.

To RESTORE your gamesave. Go back into your GAME DATA UTILITY. But this time instead of going to GT5, select to the usb drive. Now click TRIANGLE. Copy. Confirm to overwrite it. Your game is now restored to the BACKED-UP DATA. Once it is on your thumb drive you can also save it onto your PC for safe storage. It will be in a folder called "PS3". Game saves CANNOT be transferred to a different username and you can only have one GAME SAVE on a thumb-drive at a time. I use 2 thumb-drives, one exclusively for my MAIN and the other for the ALT's. So i don't accidentally overwrite the important one.

••• Gifting •••
You can gift any Paint, Horn, Car Part or Car Ticket from your ITEMS list to someone on your friends list who has played GT5. Simply Press TRIANGLE and select GIFT. You can also gift Museum cards by pressing TRIANGLE while looking at your cards.
Gifting Cars can be done while in your garage. You can not gift the car you are currently "IN".
Remember you can ONLY GIFT ONE CAR/per DAY. But you can gift up to 5 horns, museum cards and paints per day. Car parts i'm not sure, probably 5. The concept of "one per day" confuses people. The gifting reset time is 0:00 GMT. This is roughly 7pm Eastern Time in the USA. You can in fact send a gift at 6:58pm EST and then send another 4mins later at 7:02pm EST. You wont be able to send again until after 7:00pm EST the next day.
To Receive a gift, You need to go to COMMUNITY in GT MODE. on the bottom it will say GIFTS. Select it and you can then RECEIVE them. If its a car, you will now have a car ticket in your "Car Receiving" icon in GT MODE.

••• Creating an ALT Account •••
Simply go to "Create an Account" in the USERS column at the PS3 XMB. The name you choose can be anything and it can be changed later. Once created, Log into the acct, sign up for PSN. You can use a random email but it has to be a working one. You do not have to actually create the email acct it just has to be in the form of an email address. For password "gt5gt5gt" is quick. Then for security question "here" works good. For name, address and city use "g". You must use a working State and ZIP combination. Then just continue until your done. Sign into PSN. Click "AUTO SIGN-IN". Go to "Add a Friend" and add your MAIN. Now sign into your MAIN to accept friend request.
It takes about 3 mins to create an ALT.

••• THE EXPLOITS •••

••• Duplicating A Car •••
Simply BACKUP your GAMESAVE. GIFT a car to your ALT. Then RESTORE. Log into your ALT. RECEIVE gift. Go to ITEMS and re-GIFT the ticket back to your MAIN. You dont have to go to your ALT's Delivery Semi and USE the ticket before GIFTing the car. That just wastes time. Once you RECEIVE and REDEEM your car in the MAIN acct. You will now have two. You can do this to sell valuable cars for money. Although you can make money faster doing some of the races. You can also do this if you want to Race-Mod a car and keep an original version. More than likely you would do this to give a car to someone (like for a trade) and you want to keep it for yourself. If so, BACKUP, GIFT to them, RESTORE.

••• The Birthday Present •••
You receive a free car, from the year you were born, on your birthday.
Because of this, you can get any car from 1993 or before for free. (under 18 year olds have more steps to create an acct, but you will also get something on your birthday) Simply create a new PSN acct. Use today's date for your birthday with the year of the car your looking for. When you load the game and go through the pop-ups, you get a free car ticket. Before using the ticket, I suggest buying the used yaris, save, quit. BACKUP save. Now when you load game and use the ticket, if its not the car you wanted, press PS button and go to GAME DATA UTILITY (up 3 clicks). It asks if you want to leave game. Say yes, and RESTORE and load game. You now will not have to go through the pop-ups. Try the ticket again. Once you get the car you want, GIFT to MAIN. After GIFTing you can RESTORE again and get another car that you want. You will not be able to Gift until the next day though.
It takes about 3 mins to try again for a different car.

••• Grinding/Endurance Car •••
Do this Instead of rebuilding your Grinding/Endurance car after a lot of miles.
Create an ALT. Name it after favorite car. Now BACKUP your MAIN, rebuild motor/restore chassis, Buy all upgrades and tires for your favorite grinding car. GIFT it to the new ALT. RESTORE your MAIN. Now whenever your car gets old, just log into that ALT and gift yourself another grinding car in perfect condition.

••• Endless Money •••
Instead of wasting your money on the expensive cars and upgrades, try the following.
BACKUP your save. Buy the car you want. Change the oil, rebuild the motor, restore the chassis, wash it, paint it, paint the rims, add aero kits. Buy every tuning part available including every set of tires. Spare no expense! Now gift it to your ALT. RESTORE your save, and you got all your money back. Now re-GIFT back to your MAIN. You get the Car and the Money!!

••• Level Car Tickets: •••
These are a perfect way to increase the numbers of cars you own without spending a dime!
There are car level 0, 3, 6, 9, 11 and 15 tickets from the licenses. 5, 9, 12, 17, 21, 24 tickets from A-Spec and B-spec. You get a Random 1000 Ticket for every 100 wins and 2000km in A-spec. I suggest creating another ALT and naming it the Level of the ticket. Once you gift the ticket to the ALT, everyday you can BACKUP, Use Ticket, GIFT, RESTORE. You can eventually get all the cars in that level!!

Any car will do the job but its easier with a chaparral or toyota 7 ... all counts on using the cars in front to take the first corner and getting into first and an immaculate race from there would get you the win :) Just dont press L1 because there will be a chaparral right behind you the whole way 👍

Win the A-Spec Indy 500 endurance race and use the prize car - Jaguar XJ13 - to absolutely breeze both these races.

No need to faff about with grid positions or blocking the Chaparall etc.

hey guys, im having a bit of a problem doing the bspec historic challenge, no matter what i give the guy he cant win(except the 2J cus i dont have it YET)and i tried EVERYTHING, a fully tuned XJ13,2D,toyota 7 and even a C2 corvette race car and hes always in 2nd place bhnd the 2J!!
what car should i give him and how to set it up for the monaco course(the deep forrest he won easily)

330 P4, and my Bob was lvl 17 at the time he won it. It is a combination of luck (no 2J starting in the top 4) and skill (as you have to pay attention the entire time in B-Spec).

I did this with a RM 69' Camaro SS. Deep Raceway I didn't find too hard with it, especially if you cut across the last chicane (you certainly don't have to, but it shaves off a lot of time). Monaco was a whole other chore in itself. As much as I hate admitting it, I had to play dirty and bump-pass the lead car going into the first turn, and then it was just exasperation trying to hold onto the lead. I don't plan on doing that race again since I've gotten gold.

The Countach fully tuned can win deep forest but it aint easy, you need the toyota 7 and the chaparal 2j to be behind you then you just need to force your way into the lead!

Good luck

Dodge Challenger (old one in dealer), race modded, then topped up, racing softs and so on. 180mph for Deep forest, 135mph for Monaco. Nice and nippy out of corners to stop the hoover getting you at deep forest. You do need to make short work of the hoover at Monaco, once in front of it it shouldn't be too challenging if you made your way up to expert ok.

I love the way you called it a hoover...ive been laughing for about 5 minutes..hahahaha

Win the A-Spec Indy 500 endurance race and use the prize car - Jaguar XJ13 - to absolutely breeze both these races.

No need to faff about with grid positions or blocking the Chaparall etc.

👍 Just win your Jaguar XJ13 Race Car prize car and then come back to historic cup. Costs you no money.

i am looking for a good car for the historic cup coor A- and B-spec. but i don't want to spend millions. what are my options?

I got gold on both tracks with the '74 Countach FULLY modded. It is not easy, and it took a lot of tries. The AI difficulty is kind of random, and sometimes you get a car that just leaves everyone else (including you) in the dust. Get out front within the first few corners, and drive like crazy with no mistakes. I actually slammed the wall in one of the tunnels on Deep Forrest and still managed to win.

To the OP...., I too am in the same situation. What really irks me to no end is the prices on some vehicles in the UCD. It's one thing to find these "more rare.., and unicorn cars" in the Standards.., but a downright insult when it comes to the prices.

I have the PSP version of GT and have accumulated a large vehicle collection on it. I even carried over 50 to the PS3.., but what really sucks is that I own the very expensive Chaparell on my PSP.., and even though I carried it over to the PS3.., I can't use it outside of arcade play (unless I'm completely missing something here).

I was trying for the longest time to win the "Historic" race in the Expert category. I had an older Lambo that got lambasted every time I tried, I tried maxing out an older Cobra, I bought the newer "SEMA" Mustang that looks like it's got NASCAR underpinnings but got rejected. Even though the year of the car says '71' I guess it was considered a "NEWER" car since it was modified for SEMA.

I probably spent over 4 million trying to get the right car to win that darn historic race. Then I decided to lookup online which cars are modifiable to be 'race cars'. The '69 camaro was one of them so I bought it, Performed the RM, and upped the mods to max afterwards. I was a bit bummed when max power was less than 600hp. I had to adjust the transmission to have a much higher top speed (Stock is 130mph ish). I bumped it up to about 190ish.

I gave it a try anyway... With some mad late-braking I was able to get in front, and stay in front winning 1st race (Deep Forest?) by over 10 seconds.

Then came the 2nd race... At Col "DZar" or whatever name they've given the "MONACO" track. This was much more difficult as they kept giving the Toyota "7" the pole position from which it would just LEAVE. Well re-entered about 4 times until the Ford Mark IV was on pole...this gave me a chance to jam my way into 2nd or 3rd..finally outbraking him in the chicane on about the 2nd or 3rd lap. I went on to win but BARELY! It was by far the most challenging race for me of all the races up to lvl 23.

RM for the win!! The Camaro GRIPPED in the corners like mad after the mods. After I get done w/what I'm working on now I'll probably go give the '70 Charger an RM try. It looks to be another cool one!

Cheers all!

Thanks for the tip. I didn't realize the RM 69 Camaro qualified for this event. Taking your advice I bought one, Race Modified it and then upgraded all the Engine and HP related parts I could. I also through some Racing soft tires on it then took it to the tracks. I found myself immediately competitve. On Deep forest I was able to muscle past the Chappal 2J in the first turn and after that I could easily keep him behind me. Got the Gold on the first try.

At Monaco I came in 2nd on the first attempt because the Chappal 2J started on pole. But my second attemp put the 2J in 3rd and that gave me time to catch and pass him in the hairpins. After that I just ran a clean race and kept him behind to take the gold and finish out this series.

I was thinking I'd never finish that series because I didn't want to spend $20M on a Ferari or Jag and I had no desire to race a Standard car or work Bob up to that level in B-spec. Thanks for the tip.

Most fun amd most frustrating race I have done. Tried with the 427 cobra fully tuned and on race tires ( i hate runnign race tire on non race cars). This car is a handfull But ohhh so much fun). my shoulders were sore the next day. Needless to say i was able to get 2 to 3 sec up on the 2nd place car and hold it for 4 lAPS. Then the stupid toyota 7 would makes its way through the traffic and in one lap gain 5 seconds on me. very very frustrating. I borrowed a toyota 7 from a friend and beat the 2 races , then gave it back.

Did both these races today with the Lambo LP400 fully tuned. Took me 3 - 4 attempts for each race. The 2J was the only car that really could pull away from me.

I'm about to try the Historic Cup, and I'm afraid my fully maxed out 74' Countach just won't cut it. From what I've read in the past, I think I recall people mentioning the Chapparral 2J is one of the only assured ways of winning this race (along with the Toyota 7?). Where can I win the 2j as a prize car without having to buy it?

Pretty sure you can't win it. I won with the Jag race car you get for doing the Indy 500, though the only way I could secure a win was to make sure the 2J wasn't in pole position.

Does any one now what level the 2J is as my dad got the car but we don't know if he got it from a gift car ticket or not.
