[GUIDE] Historic Racing Car Cup

Maybe it was the 1970 model Mustang but when Grand Touring Garage built the car, it was many years later, around 2009(I'm assuming this because it won the 2009 GT Award).

I'm just guessing because that was the only thing that popped into my head.

i used a Shelby cobra, foolishly. Lots of shouting, money, time, and tuning later i FINALLY held off the 2J of doom. Trick is to be close second to a GT40 and block the 2J like mad until the last lap, pounce on the GT, and then the 2J still has someone else to pass

i just got silver on the first race and gold on the second with the lambo, that toyota 7 keeps getting me on the 4th and 5th lap. seems like the computer likes to intentionality bump you to spin you out so frustrating

I got VERY ANNOYED when I purchased a Trans-Cammer and tuned it fully just to find out that you cant use it? So...why does it say 1970 Ford Mustang etc...?

I did B Spec to get the Toyota 7 from Like the Wind. The Toyota gives and easy win in A Spec, but it took Bob a few tries to get the second race in B Spec.

which car did everyone use in b-spec to clear this event? I'm only level 16 b-spec atm and don't know which car bob needs to win. A fully loaded countach isn't doing it for my bob =(

I bought the 63 Vette race car, soft racing tires, max downforce, raised the gearing up two clicks form the 199 it is normally, and won on the second try (with the Vette---good Lord I raced that many times with other cars and could not win). Dropped gearing back to 199 for Cote. Did adjust brakes up to 7 in the front. Other than that, no other changes for setup.

Could not win in the Lambo, Camaro, or Mustang. But I don't change setups much and use a Dualshock 3. No wheel. Oh, also could not stop sliding in the Cobra.

Wish they had a Boss 302 on this game, one you can racemod to it looks like the old Trans Am cars. Which speaking of, they should have the 77-79 Trans Am, like in Smokey and the Bandit. and the Steve McQueen 'Bullit' 68 mustang. And a Shelby-- 67 GT 500. Not enough Mustangs, too many Skylines.

And of course, a Aussie Falcon like in "Mad Max'.:)

Managed to win this in a Racing Modified Camaro. Simple.

Get a Camaro, racing modify it in GT Auto, then go into the tuning shop and buy everything that isnt bought already. For the tyres get racing soft you can use them.

No need for this 'lower suspension by 2.9 mm' stuff. Go into the race and hope the car resembling a part of a jumbo jet engine isnt in front of you. Go in to the first corner of both tracks aggressive and if your not in front by then restart. You wont catch up. When your in front keep an eye behind you during the straights, there's a speed limiter on your car so they will catch up, just hold them back for four laps and you should have no issues.

If that doesnt work sue me, it worked for me.

Heres how I did it:

Get the Countach, tune it to the max. LUNGE Kobayashi style at turn 1 on both tracks. If you haven't passed the Chapparals at this point, you won't, then just defend heavily for 5 laps. :D

How I won:

Complete Indy 500 endurance race, Got Jaguar XJ13 Race car, Entered it with no tuning into Historic race.

Apart from cutting the first corner a tiny bit in the first race I was able to stay in front the whole time with a "meh" lead on the P4 ferrari.

On Cote Dazure track (i think thats how its spelt) I managed to get in front on the chicane at the end of the tunnel straight without cutting any corner or anything on lap 1, was pretty easy to maintain lead as AI is way to slow through corners.

If you go down the Challenger route, I'd suggest being more concerned with driving defensively than driving fast.

You're much better off sticking to the inside line and blocking everybody else rather than trying to lose them and having the risk of running wide

Finally beat it with the XJ13 from Indy. Was lucky enough to get to the front in the 1st corner. I started right behind the 2J and beat it off the line split everyone and passed the Ford at the 1st corner.

What finally worked for me really though was to go to roof cam view so I no longer had a rear view mirror and drove forward instead of back. Oh that and the 2J tried to make a pass for 3rd at the chicane and hit the barrier and from then on it hit the barrier like 3 times so I was racing the ford and the 2D and they aren't as scary.

Every time the 2J got ahead of me it just walked away like I was standing still.

The 2J is a super quick car, I know what you mean by walking away, Everytime I tried doing the race with another car other than the XJ13 the 2J was always in the lead/2nd place but for some reason it was failing miserably in the races I completed with the XJ. Would love to buy one/ trade for one but @ $14,000,000 a pop I hardly think its worth it, Would def consider buying @ $5m - $6m

Im having problems with this event. I finished the Deep Forest race but I cant win the Cote De Azur race. Its only one car im having problems with and everytime I try it is a Chapparel 2J. I can see they banned it in real life, its on my tail the entire time and then when it finally get by me it just pulls away. Theres no way I can catch back up to it. My car is 71 Mustang Mach 1 fully modded, the only settings i have changed is the:
Downforce-full
LSD accel sensitivty-full
ride height-slammed
trans top speed-160 or so

can you guys suggest anything?

I used a Camaro RM '69 for this. The 2J started 5th so I passed it on the first corner. After that, I was just being smooth and I passed the GT40 in first place by the second lap. I then tried to pull out a big lead, it was essential because I knew the 2J would eventually catch up.

I finished the race 7 seconds ahead of the 2J.

Thanks for the advice, I think thats my problem I think Im getting too agressive, too early. Its a five lap race, I have to be more patient. Im wondeing if I should use a different car or if I just dont have the car setup properly. I think this is my problem considering I really dont know how to setup a car.

If you're able to get into first, your car is fine - concentrate on not giving your lead.
If not change it, try finding a Mk IV, XJ13 or a 330 P4 in the marketplace and use one of those to do the race.

When i won at Monaco the 2J overtook me on the last turn of lap 2, so to get my place back i did something evil. I didn't brake for turn 1 of lap 3. At all. Instead i directed my Mk IV straight at the 2J in front and rammed him. I spun, but the others were far behind and i had enough time to recover. The 2J was finished though, flung to the far boundary of the outside of turn 1 it got overtake by everyone. The 2J finished last. Not a fair way to do it, but it got the job done. :)

I used the Toyota 7 Race Car
Same ... Cake Walk ... and it's a prize car which is pretty easy to win itself ...

It took my B-Spec drivers quite a few tries to win at Cote D'Azure, but Deep Forest was won without any issues.

I used a lambo contach for both of these races, was hard tho. Had to lower transmissin and take the lead after the first corner by driving dirty and crash them out of track. Then I had to block the 2J and toyota 7 race car every second in the 5 remaining laps, once they've passed it was impossible to catch up. I did cote de azur on first attempt because the track is s narrow, but I used 2 hours on the deep forest:crazy:

Haha that reminded me of the time I was about 3 seconds behind first place on London circuit, last lap, first turn didn't brake in my TVR and I smashed the other car completely out. I did about 4 spins and by sheer luck stopped facing the right way and won by a mile. When in doubt, knock them out.
