I had 3rd and 4th place finishes in the Countach loaded out in A Spec on Deep Forest. Thanks to the OP for inspiring me to stick with it. I used my own tune, but if you don't want to fiddle, use the OP's, as many people have completed this with his tune. After reading this thread yesterday, I won after only three tries last night.
Some notes . . .
I won with a 2J in front of me on the grid. It can be done. A Mark IV had the front spot and carried the lead through the first corner. You need to be aggressive to the inside on turn 1, but you don't have to Banzai. I got some door rub with the 2J in one, and he pulled away going up the hill- putting me in third. I carefully managed the next series of corners and got past him coming out of the tunnel. I got past the Mark IV with an inside move on turn 1 lap 2. After that, just nice smooth laps without drama, and an eye on the rearview. My first two attempts I came out of turn 1 in 4th and 5th, but I ran the entire race just to get practice in and work on my corners. Don't simply keep reloading to get the grid you want if you can't run high 1:14's/low 1:15's . . . you will lose and get frustrated. The first corner is important, but it's not the only key . . . what you really need in the grid is just a couple of slower cars up front to hold the 2J, Toyota 7's up long enough to get past. If a 2J or 7 is in the lead out of turn 1 you're probably hosed.
Best of luck and get your times down before you get serious about winning this one. Thanks again to the OP for encouragement.
ps- Cote took me 3 tries with far less drama. Again just work on being smooth and fast and you can win this one. When I won I think I came out of turn one in third on the opening lap.
Anyone have a tip for completing the ALL STARS? I'm using a loaded up Mclaren F1 Stealth. I think the car can do it, but I'm regularly running behind the C9 and Pesky Judd. Help?
