[GUIDE] Historic Racing Car Cup

I had 3rd and 4th place finishes in the Countach loaded out in A Spec on Deep Forest. Thanks to the OP for inspiring me to stick with it. I used my own tune, but if you don't want to fiddle, use the OP's, as many people have completed this with his tune. After reading this thread yesterday, I won after only three tries last night.

Some notes . . .

I won with a 2J in front of me on the grid. It can be done. A Mark IV had the front spot and carried the lead through the first corner. You need to be aggressive to the inside on turn 1, but you don't have to Banzai. I got some door rub with the 2J in one, and he pulled away going up the hill- putting me in third. I carefully managed the next series of corners and got past him coming out of the tunnel. I got past the Mark IV with an inside move on turn 1 lap 2. After that, just nice smooth laps without drama, and an eye on the rearview. My first two attempts I came out of turn 1 in 4th and 5th, but I ran the entire race just to get practice in and work on my corners. Don't simply keep reloading to get the grid you want if you can't run high 1:14's/low 1:15's . . . you will lose and get frustrated. The first corner is important, but it's not the only key . . . what you really need in the grid is just a couple of slower cars up front to hold the 2J, Toyota 7's up long enough to get past. If a 2J or 7 is in the lead out of turn 1 you're probably hosed.

Best of luck and get your times down before you get serious about winning this one. Thanks again to the OP for encouragement.

ps- Cote took me 3 tries with far less drama. Again just work on being smooth and fast and you can win this one. When I won I think I came out of turn one in third on the opening lap.

Anyone have a tip for completing the ALL STARS? I'm using a loaded up Mclaren F1 Stealth. I think the car can do it, but I'm regularly running behind the C9 and Pesky Judd. Help?

@RWB1213

The way I completed that series was to use a race modified Corvette ZR1 to win the Like the Wind series in A-Spec Extreme. The corvette will end up around 890 HP and will breeze through the race at Daytona and with some good driving and tuning will just be able to win at Indy. You can then use the prize car (Toyota Minolta Race Car) to breeze through the All Stars event.

The Vett can be bought from the Chevy dealer and will end up costing a fair chunk of change, somewhere in the area of 700,000 credits, but come on, its an awesome car to have laying around!

For reference, here is the tuning I used for the indy event (isn't mine, found on another forum)

Top speed set to 400kph (approx 250mph)

Front camber to 2.5
Rear camber to 2.0

Spring rates Front/Back to 19.0

Front down force maxed
Rear down force 5 clicks from the max

All driving Aids OFF, except ABS at 1.

Racing Soft Tires are a must, don't try and cheap out with hards like I did, the car just wont turn well enough to keep enough speed.

Hope it helps.

I'll keep the vette(like the wind) for the Minolta(All Stars) approach in mind. I have about 1.2M in credits and I don't really want to dump most of it into the vette just yet. I think I can pull it (All Stars) off with the Mclaren Stealth. On really smooth laps I seem to catch the front couple of cars, but much like the Historic w/ the Countach, it comes down to the first corner and holding the lead.

After all the rumbling I have read about "rare" cars in the used car dealership, and how you have to jump on them when they show up, I'm low on credits (and don't particularly feel like grinding.) I'm only lvl23 and I already have 120 cars- most of which need oil changes . . . LOL.

FINALLY, I beat all the tricky races...

Like The Wind was beaten with my stealth F1, with maximum downforce. I then received the Toyota Minolta 88... and I was confused, because I thought people were using this car to beat the Historic Racing Car Cup, but you can't use it, because it's an '89 car.

I realize now that people are using it for the All Stars race, which I also won in my stealth F1. I had gotten a silver and bronze on two of those races, so won them easily with the 1000HP+ new Toyota :)

With my luck running on high, I decided to try the Historic Cup (again, all I had at my disposal was the lambo). The first try, the Toyota 7 managed to pass me. My next re-load had me win the first corner, and 5 hair-raising laps later, with a Toyota 7 and 2J on my tail, I just won, by 0.028s

Well, if I can do it, then it's probably easy for everyone else :D lol

FYI, I set both the F1 and lambo to about 370km/h top speed for all the events, and I had all driving aids on (ABS at 1, Traction Control at 5, ASM on, Skid Control on, Steering Assist on strong)

I have the CamaroZ28, but i can't manage to win the historic race, is there any tips on tuning? I heard the lambo countach is good but i dont have it anymore lol

I'm using a Ferrari P3 and had a close race on deep forest when I had front aero at max with rear aero at default. Turbo'd to 600 hp as well.

This is for B-Spec

I did a-spec with a corvette c3 I think it is (the premium one you can buy from the dealer). It was fully modded, and to win at deep forest, I had to charge into the first corner and punt the toyota 7 off the road, I then had to make sure no other Toyota 7 or evil Chapparal 2J passed me around the first corner. After that it was pretty easy.

As for b-spec, I have tried it over and over again and I just can't win this. I'm using the Toyota 7, and cote d azure is just impossible. There are generally two 2J chapparals in the race, and they are just untouchable. Add to this the fact that the ai is retarded around this track and consistently smash into barriers when trying to overtake on the inside, making this race near impossible.

I give up on b-spec until I have either a lvl 30 driver or that stupid Chapparal fan car.

The Countach can win the Deep Forest, but I couldn't do the Cote d'azur is in. No way, no how. I cam third, which was enough to get me a lvl 17 prize ticket

dodge challenger RT 70 or whatever it is called (won it somewhere) with racemod. only got bronze with it until now, but i'm not a good driver. someone more competent could win all gold with it. brutal car.

Toyota 7 with Medium Racing Tyres and Lvl 3 Turbo can easily win in Deep Forest...

I'm still trying some Transmission configs to get a better acceleration to overtake in Cote D'Azur
my best position was 4th with a Lvl 20 Driver

Borrow a chapparal from someone for the deep forest raceway(a-spec) and for all b-spec races.

Does anyone know how much a Chapparal is? I've been checking the used cars for a while and have not found one yet and want to make sure I have enough money for when one does appear.

I was trying for the longest time to win the "Historic" race in the Expert category. I had an older Lambo that got lambasted every time I tried, I tried maxing out an older Cobra, I bought the newer "SEMA" Mustang that looks like it's got NASCAR underpinnings but got rejected. Even though the year of the car says '71' I guess it was considered a "NEWER" car since it was modified for SEMA.

I probably spent over 4 million trying to get the right car to win that darn historic race. Then I decided to lookup online which cars are modifiable to be 'race cars'. The '69 camaro was one of them so I bought it, Performed the RM, and upped the mods to max afterwards. I was a bit bummed when max power was less than 600hp. I had to adjust the transmission to have a much higher top speed (Stock is 130mph ish). I bumped it up to about 190ish.

I gave it a try anyway... With some mad late-braking I was able to get in front, and stay in front winning 1st race (Deep Forest?) by over 10 seconds.

Then came the 2nd race... At Col "DZar" or whatever name they've given the "MONACO" track. This was much more difficult as they kept giving the Toyota "7" the pole position from which it would just LEAVE. Well re-entered about 4 times until the Ford Mark IV was on pole...this gave me a chance to jam my way into 2nd or 3rd..finally outbraking him in the chicane on about the 2nd or 3rd lap. I went on to win but BARELY! It was by far the most challenging race for me of all the races up to lvl 23.

RM for the win!! The Camaro GRIPPED in the corners like mad after the mods. After I get done w/what I'm working on now I'll probably go give the '70 Charger an RM try. It looks to be another cool one!

Cheers all!

Dodge Challenger (old one in dealer), race modded, then topped up, racing softs and so on. 180mph for Deep forest, 135mph for Monaco. Nice and nippy out of corners to stop the hoover getting you at deep forest. You do need to make short work of the hoover at Monaco, once in front of it it shouldn't be too challenging if you made your way up to expert ok.

Just saw a used Chaparral for 14million.

I finished the Spec B race at Cote D'Azur yesterday with the Toyota 7. I set the transmission to 240km/h max (based on people's suggestions) and I used the midrpm turbo. I think that I was mostly lucky that the Chaparrals didn't make it to the front.

Does anyone know how much a Chapparal is? I've been checking the used cars for a while and have not found one yet and want to make sure I have enough money for when one does appear.

I saw one on the used car list, for the second time last night, still dont have enough to buy it, from memory, i think it was the most expensive car ive seen on there, at 14,500,000. Be a while before i can afford that i think.

I won the Deep Forest in A=Spec with the 69 Camaro RM but it was not easy. The Toyota is a lot faster and unless you get in front early and make sure it does not pass you you have little chance in this car. B-Spec Bob did not have a chance in it.

With the Toyota 7 Bob won Deep Forest with ease but the other one was a challenge. After 7 tries I got a lineup where there was only 1 2J and it started near the back. Giving Bob lots of instructions I was able to get him to the front about 2/3rds into the race and then he ran away with it.

I just did it last night with a toyota 7. All i did was put racing soft tires on with turbo and walked the field hard. Beat the field by 5 seconds on the 2nd race and im sure it would have been worse if I would have realized that I didnt have on my tires and stage 3 in the race.

In A-Spec, I won Cote D'Azur with a 330 P4, although I must confess that I probably won because the lead GT40 decided to spin out early on.

I can't do Deep Forest with the P4 so I'm holding out on that.

B-Spec is a nightmare. Not only did the 330 P4 struggle midfield but to add insult to injury the lone 2J must have ice tires because it spun and wrecked half the field, and my Bob decided to back up and crash into another wrecked car after already hitting one.

Finally got grand valley historic race aspec done with the challenger rm. Took a while to figute out the tune and after that it was not to bad. I am using a wheel. If anybody wants the settings just ask and I will post them.
