Guitar Hero III

It's the first GH that I actually know the bands of 90% of the songs. Except those bonus tracks, except for In Flames.

I meant the main song list. Sooo lame.

But Tenacious D is awesome. Wootness.

Lame? Not even half the songs have been revealed and IMO is more interesting than Rock Bands. They are doing better than Rock band in terms of song reveals. Rock band has given us tracks we won't get with the game. They give 40 with the game but say we have more we are going to make you pay for to make an already expensive game more expensive. GHIII has over 70 tracks and no DLC has been revealed but is planned as weekely downloads the day the game ships. EA is publishing Rock Band so don't be surprised if all the cheats and codes are $2 downloads.

Wasn't that planned with Guitar Hero 2 360? With that, only three content packs have been released so far, two of them being songs from GH1. I wouldn't give them much faith on that front.

What EA games have microrapements like that? The sports games and NFS Carbon? I don't think Rock Band is going to get that same treatment, but I could be wrong.

...Personally, I actually prefer a song lineup from musicians I have never heard of before. Where's the fun in playing most songs that you have already listened to before? It's all good, but I'd prefer to have a good amount of unknown tracks thrown in there to expand my horizons.

Now you should know the team behind Gh3 isn't the same one behind Guitar Hero 2, They already mentioned they would have to re-license all the songs that Red Octane/harmonix produced(GH1/2/80's). GH2 360 has a short list of content mostly because of the release of GH3 and Rock Band i would assume. Thats also the reason Encore was rushed. Besides in an interview the lead producer said there will be weekly downloads.

I too am looking for more songs from groups I've never heard of. But Guitar Hero isn't about listening to songs, its about the simulated playing of them on a plastic guitar. I didn't really like playing any of the songs I liked listening to in GH2. Its the joy of nailing those difficult parts. I think Jordan sucks and wouldn't blast that in my car, but its fun to play. With just under 40 songs revealed there are over 30 to be announced.

And The Godfather comes to mind also you can use MS points to buy a max stats for Tigerwoods 08.

Merged 2 threads and moved to gamin gin general as its multi-format.

EDIT: That's meant to be gaming in general, but gamin gin general sounds better! :dopey:

Honestly, with Rock Band on the horizon, I can't bring myself to care about this. Guess we'll see though.

I did some deep thinking on both games. Rock Band seems great as a concept but in most cases its over priced for what they offer out of box. And watching the videos of people singing to the game just looks lame. It does sound cool to have lead ,bass and drums but for me I like the nitty gritty guitar element. Bass is boring in many songs , drum seems cool but the song has to be interesting first and Rockband has few unknown songs and i keep hearing drum is very hard on expert. The vocals part? Forget it, Karaoke Revo wasn't my type of game. It will be a great party game but weak single player with short list of too familiar songs. GH3 has tons of song I've never heard of so far. Rock Band seems focused on draining your bank account. GH 3 seems like its aiming at a good single player and multiplayer experience with a lot of content, boss battles and a better deal for $99.

Rock Band will be much like Battle Field 1942. If you are alone its just average. Just my opinion.

About the drums, they say that drumming on expert will be just like playing the real drums, so in theory, if you can play the song on expert, you can do it on a real drum kit.

Hey guys the GH3 song list might've been leaked.

Can I buy a version without a guitar controller and use the controller I have from Guitar Hero 2? I'd hate to fork out unnecessarily for a new controller.

KM.

If you have a 360 or a PS2 you can, but I haven't seen a stand alone one for the PS3.

If this list hold this is godly imo for the standard list. Downloadable content should add to the glory. So many metal bands. I am going to love this game.

No Freeze Pop, No Made in Mexico :D I'll miss their obscure songs.

"Sex Pistols – Anarchy in the UK" was just confirmed. Master track from Activision paying the band to get back together and re-record it.

This was in the leaked list as well... this is too big to be a coincidence.

Answering the prayers of many devotees of old-school British punk, Activision announced today the Sex Pistols classic "Anarchy in the U.K." will feature on its upcoming rock'n'roll-themed Guitar Hero III.

Past Guitar Hero games have largely relied on cover bands to produce their music, but Guitar Hero III uses many recordings from the original artists. After Activision was unable to find the original Sex Pistols master tapes from the 1970s -- no doubt left in a bar or used to light Sid Vicious's cigarette -- they did the only thing they could do: they got the band back together, in classic Blues Brothers style.

Three of the four original Pistols, Johnny "Rotten" Lyndon, Steve Jones, and Paul Cook, joined forces with Chris Thomas, the producer of Never Mind the Bollocks, to put together the re-recording, which was mixed on the same vintage analog desk as the original master. The trio are also set to play a series of sellout gigs in London in November, and also re-recorded "Pretty Vacant" for EA's recent release Skate.

The Sex Pistols join fellow stars Aerosmith, Guns N' Roses, and The Rolling Stones in the Guitar Hero III lineup, which will be going head-to-head with EA's Rock Band when it's released on October 28.

The X-plorer works with both GH3 and Rock Band.
Does anyone know if the Rock Band controller will also work for GH3 (PS3 versions)?
No one knows. I have a gut feeling they're not going to support it, though.

The leaked list is pretty much real. All the new announced songs are in the list including the devil went down to Georgia. Only thing is the final tier may or may not be in accurate order. A great list if you ask me. I think the are saving a lot of other cool songs by GH2 artist like All that remains and Shadows Fall for DLC. 2 of the coolest songs in GH2.

and trogdor and thunderhorse and that song by Drist(can't remeber);)

Man i'm looking forward to this so much:D

Devil went down to Georgia should be an awesome song, got to love a good hoedown. I like the fact that lots of songs in these lists I have never heard, it adds to the whole gaming experience if you are listening and playing to this song for the first time and you have no idea what to expect in terms of how the song sounds/plays. With songs you have heard you can get the rythms down pretty easy. I Hope they put some Lamb of God in GH3, they have all sorts of 80's/90's metal but you can't forget Lamb of God.

With Rockband I think it would be cool to play the drums, but as someone has already stated, bass can get kind of stale for some songs. I play guitar and bass and I suck at GH games but they are a lot of fun but for me it kind of defeats the purpose, its kind of like "ok so I can play this song with 5 buttons on a plastic guitar, now how about I play a real guitar."

I was also wondering if they are selling a double bass pedal for the drums.

from what i hear it's only 1:( seems stupid with quit a few metal song's.

I want some more death/black metal on the list lol....oh and some t.A.T.u.:D

There is so many interesting sounding songs in GH3 that really put the Rock Band setlist to shame. Sure Rock Band has many WELL know songs we've all heard before seeming to cater to the MTV/mainstream generation and hit lists but 40 songs and few metal bands is a turn off. I did not have to google any of the Rockband setlist :). It has no jems like GH2 had(Thunder horse, Trogdor,. But the $170 price isnt bad for what you get but I have no room for the drum set and you are paying more for the equipment than the game.

Both have Metalica but One Vs. Enter the Sandman??? And I'm dyng for some new Lamb of God.

Dragonforce
Slayer
Disturbed
Slipknot(I know I know but still)
White Zombie
Tenacious D
In Flames

And I'm the only person looking forward to Miss Murder....

The list owns, to prove it check this out if you don't mind knowing what the songs sound like.

im looking forward to miss murder(wish it was the VNV nation mix though;)).

Thank's for the list. Do you have to do co-op to get the co-op encore or is there another way?

man that's nut's:

slipknot,

Iron maiden,

Mettalica(one, the only song i really like from mettalica lol. And Korn do a GREAt cover of it.)

Slayer

Disturbed

Muse

in flames(!!!)

Lacuna Coil(!!!!)

and of course dragonforce.

Wouldn't mind some theatre of tragedy or even korn. Would love some 8 foot sativa or children of boddom or dimmu borgir aswell:P

lol im not complaing though.

I actually like Enter Sandman more. It's my favorite Metallica song. But I reckon it will get old fast while One should be a bit harder to master.

I like both games' set list and I plan on playing both.

Well you can't have too many metal bands in there otherwise you'd just be catering for the minority. Don't get me wrong I like Metallica and some other metal bands, but you need a balance.
The list is looking pretty good, I'm excited for both this and rock band...my wallet, not so much.

And I don't think you could really say Rock Band is catering more for the MTV generation (a MCR pack for Guitar Hero 2!??? AFI??? Gah!)

I like listening to Enter the Sandman more than One. But playing them in a game is another story. Played them both in Frets on Fire One is blast.

And Dodge There are over 70 songs if 7 are metal thats only 10% thats good balance if you ask me. Rock Bands song choices differ from GH2's too much to make any comparison. I still don't get why people dislike AFI's Miss Murder. I like the song plus I looked at the real guitar tab and doesn't look bad at all. Rock Band may not be catering to the MTV generation but the setlist has been toned down from GH2, in size and obscurity(Trogdor).

I don't plan on getting rockband this year, not for me at least.
