Guitar Hero III

If NFS Pro Street does not have replays. I'll be waiting for it to hit the bargain bin. Replays are important to me as I like to watch.

I'm trying to beat The Metal with the controller on hard. i can get 33%. I already beat it at Gamestop on expert on my 10th try.
 
The Metal is definetly the most difficult (and puts pain in my hand which few songs have done that, such as Jordan, Hangar 18..) But the best I could do so far is 98% on Even Flow.
 
I just picked it up, its pretty good. But, the whammy bar is either on or off, thats kinda annoying, not as modulatable as II.
 
is the full game out?

Ive got the demo. I really like the new layout, especially using the whamy bar. It look's not so cartoonish now
 
You guys must read the comments at the major blogs and guitarhero.com on why this or that song isn't in the game or why they didn't get a Les Paul. Absolutely golden.

Nice job Activision on ****ing up Guitar Hero. 👍

I'm stuck on the Slash battle, and I'm furious. It is quite possibly the dumbest mechanic in a game ever. I bought GH3 so I can play cool songs, not engage in bull**** "battles".

That and the fact that the buttons are pretty mushy are really pissing me off. And they screwed up "Barracuda" by Heart. Crap notechart, crap cover, etc.

I know that I've bashed Rock Band a lot before, but the very fact that the guitar's quality is spectacular in every aspect of it (well, according to reports from everyone who's played it) and that there's none of these retarded game mechanics are making me warm up to it.
 
I've only gone through career mode on medium . I know the hard/expert boss battles are going to be nuts. I don't mind them but th last one is too long, however the ending was a surprise. As for the guitar, it works well but the buttons have a broader edge so sliding is now painful and my finger has got caught between frets. I think I'm pushing down when im pushing sideways. But a few hour later I'm used to it and I like it but they are a step backwards. I play with my finger tips. The strum bar feels cheaper and not as sturdy as the SG.

I'm glad I don't know most of the songs so i can't be disappointed by the covers :).

I got it 7am this morning i wasn't done playing until noon. I'm really liking it and Rock Band can wait till next year for me even though it has a few cool things I just learned about.

Edit: I thought I had to register for my stats to appear? But I searched and found my 1/1 battle recored:).

I started career on Expert ( :sly: ) and Tom Morello was easy IMO. I couldn't be Slash though. I tried maybe 6 or 7 times so I just skipped it. :indiff: The only song I've failed so far White Zombie - Black Sunshine. My hand's were getting tired by that point though, so I know I can beat it later. My favorite songs so far are Even Flow by Pearl Jam and Take This Life by In Flames. So awesome :D 👍 👍

Oh by the way, the orange button became defective about after 2 hours of game play so I went back to GameStop and exchanged it for another guitar and no problems :D
 
I can't get past 8% on Take This life. I can't get the rhythm down. not sure if i should double strum or single but i just cant get it.

My Curse has to be my favorite so far even though i can't get past the repetitive part OYR OYR OYG OYR OYR OYR. I get like 30 in a row then fall apart from the repletion :) But that song is beautiful.
 
Stuck on Stricken at the moment (but only a couple tries at it, gotta do homework) on Expert. I think both Tom Morello and Slash were pretty easy to beat. You just need to get those combos in a row so they don't have the chance to screw you up in getting another attack or whatever they call them. "Before I Forget" is really a good'n. ;)

Edit: So is everyone using PS3 versions? I thought that the Les Paul is very nice compared to the X-Ploder and SG. Sliding feels easier to me but sometimes you can just barely let up, not noticing, when playing a chord or a series of chords and mess up several notes.

Still tons of fun. Has anyone found out when PS3 controllers will be available separately?

The PS3 Guitar+dongle work with PCs. You can use it for Frets on Fire immediately.

True, I don't think they are going to function in GH3. It is a much nicer guitar though.

The RB guitar doesn't work in GH3.

I just finished the game on medium, and... it's decent. For some reason, I just didn't enjoy it as much as GH2. For whatever reasons, the songs just didn't grab me... it could've been because I was blazing through it, though.

The graphics (lol again) somehow look worse. It doesn't help the art style that I really liked that it was lighthearted and cartoony in GH2, but it got bastardized and had some grittiness mixed in... and it just doesn't look right. Of course, the interface (which is what really matters) definitely looks better and cooler.

The notecharts are good for the most part, there's a few bad eggs though (like Barracuda), but some good ones too (My Name is Jonas).

The tracklist is obviously very good.

I guess I'm just disappointed with it. I mean, it's definitely fun, and I don't regret buying it (wireless guitar FTW)... but it doesn't have that "thing" that made GH2 so great (in my eyes at least).

That's just my 2¢ of the whole thing.

I guess since i've been playing with the same style looking notes for two games. *shrug* But on Rock You like a Hurricane I was doing horrible when i've played sections similar to other solos that I would usually nail.
 
I never really memerized them by color fully.

It was always by position on the fret board.

I'm a little angry, seeing as I missed out on Halo3, and now its GH3...

Especially when i've been hoping that "One" by Metallica would show up on Gh3 ever since Gh2 came out.

I'm also dissapointed that while its "Legends of Rock" there is no Jimmy Page...

I actually prefer the way the fretboard is set up now. Ironicly, it makes the solos easier for me :D


Edit: Just beat Knights of Cydonia on expert. Time to do Stricken, 3's & 7's, and that Slipknot song :crazy:
 
I know what you mean Ewillis. I like GH3 but it doesn't give the same feeling that GH2 did and GH2 blew me away compared to GH1. I only beat medium, the boss battles were not hard at all on medium once you get like 3 power ups and can survive the bosses attacks. Hard is going to be tougher and I'm starting that now. I started medium to expand the replay value.

Rock band wont replace GH not until the next version of Rock Band IMO. If GH4 doesn't change something with the guitar its going to be a tough $60 to swallow plus a new guitar is going to be suicide for GH4. Unless you can upgrade the neck. It does have a phone jack or something like that.

I have GH3 for PS3.

I got stuck on 3's & 7's and the Slipknot song on expert, so I started over on hard. I'm at the final song bracket. I got to 81% the first time I tried One. :D
 
Tom Morello was very easy on hard, I destroyed him, it was kinda funny because I did the exact same thing twice just see if it was a fluke.

Still can not beat My Curse, same part gets me OYR OYR OYG OYR OYR OYR and I start with Full green and used star power(embarrassing). I get 94% and my hand folds. Reminds me of Freya when that repetitive part kept owning me.

This game's tier 7 and 8 beats GH2's in difficulty.
