I've read it now.

If Luke knew what he was talking about (re. Top Gear etc..), the article would not been posted.

That's nice. I just wasted a few minutes of my life reading that. Thanks.

This.

That made me throw up a little in my mouth.

And that's why I trust Gamespot over IGN.

And this.

What's great about it is IGN just ran an article saying Dark Souls will be better than Skyrim because there is no DLC, so you get the full package straighaway. But in this comparison Forza is better than GT5 because to get the full game you will be paying for DLC for months. Hypocritical much?

Now, now, let's not get riled up.

Forza 4 will be great for the 360 as GT5 was for the PS3.

In Basketball terms though, the GT series is Michael Jordan, and the Forza series is Lebron James.

Oh come on fanboys/girls, the article has some validity just because they don't blatantly support the game you like. I like GT5 but Forza 4 realistically is HUGE competition in the consul racing genre. I agree with IGN that PD should be doing something to combat Turn 10. They've always been, it seems, too underpowered at keeping up with the needs of their fans and gamers. The competition just seems to out-muscle them with content, no matter how much of car enthusiasts they are over at PD.

Take away the bias and be objective. Forza is going to trample all over GT5 and PD/Sony if they don't show they give a crap and take their followers more seriously.

Yeah, some of us will be loyal, me included (due partly to cost of xbox and xbox online service as well as loyalty). I want to see PD succeed and grow, but they gotta throw us a bone for that to happen.

Or in football terms, GT is Péle, Forza is Maradona. Or GT is Lional Messi, Forza is Cristiano Ronaldo. Whatever floats your boat.

The quiet ones always stike the hardest :P

In other words, just because PD is pretty quiet about updates other than bug fixes and new seasonals doesn't mean that they're not tooling away at what could be a massive overhaul/update of GT5.

Too bad there isn't a fingers crossed emoticon or there'd be a few in this post.

I check IGN for gaming news (Release date, announcements etc.) but when it comes to reviews I'd rather have the opinion of a 4 year old  I agree with a couple of the points in the article such as PD releasing DLC to compete with Forza, but was there any need for a massive page of GT5 hate?

I wish i could reward you with millions of cookies of awesomeness.

I pretty much completely agree with the article. Polyphony dropped the ball in so many ways with GT5.... and no, I'm not a Forza Fan. I've been playing GT since the first one.

GT5 is a great game, don't get me wrong, but it could have been so much more...

I'm not sure on the Messi and Ronaldo comparison, but the Pele and Maradona fit.

At the end of the day, GT is still gonna be locked in their regimented way of doing things.

Forza has been around for more than 6 years now? And PD have shown no annoyance with them, nor any lack of confidence ever since Turn 10 shown up.

I don't think Forza 4, a game on the 360, is gonna topple a game on the PS3.

I'm going to stick my neck out here and say the writer of the article makes valid points that most of which have yet to be addressed and sorted out by PD, Yes I am a SONY faithful these days have been for nearly 10 years now but, PD have made a massive boob by not taking into consideration what the fans want, As an example here before anyone bites my head off and I could be wrong on this, But I am pretty sure Media Molecule release more DLC/Patches than PD in any equivalent time frame because they care about the product and the fan base.

I agree that GT5 could have been so much more. IMO, GT4 was more like GT4.5 HD then a real sequel. The potential was there but they just didn't take advantage of it.

I think PD needs Turn 10 to push their boundaries. So Viva Forza and hopefully GT6 will be grandiose !!.

This is true. I bought my 360 and FM3 a month ago or so just to be able to enjoy FM4 when it's launched.

This article sucks though. GT5 is good, especially online, I guess Luke is stuck at the Top Gear track.

The article has many valid points. If I played GT5 for the first time today I'd still be disappointed with it, even with all the additions since its release. There are still just too many things about GT5 that leave you scratching your head. Hopefully GT6 will be better (and have equal detail on all cars, standards/premiums just looks unprofessional).

I will say, the lack of DLC in GT5 is a good thing. DLC is evil.

Where In The World Is Gran Turismo?
Really?!
PD have the GT Academy and for me thats something special and now they are showing it on EuroSport
did Luke Reilly forgot about the Mercedes DC event?(after the event GT5 was again in the UK top 10 list)
Seasonal Events?!
for me this is "show stopping" content not only DLC that you need to pay for
GT5 is still here in this World dear IGN(Luke Reilly)
sorry for my bad englisch

+1

+1 Really guys we have got to look at this article with a non-biased opinion. It does speak some truth. If Forza 4 has great graphics, physics and A.I. it will be better than GT5. IMO PD has let us down on this one - not because GT5 is a bad game, just because they promised stuff that they did not deliver.

I think the article has its point, but at the same time do not agree with everything that was said.
For me the Forza series (maybe) has reached the level of GT only now with FM4, and with serious chances to steal the post of the best racing game on consoles.
I agree that PD is leaving the door half open to allow Turn 10 catch up and rob the public of GT series.

But at the same time, though GT5 having its shortcomings, was my most played game in this generation since day-one until now. So its a great game the way it is, but sure, could have been "epic".

I never played Forza nor I own Xbox , but I have to completely agree with parts about all the wrong decisions made in GT5. It's funny how much more we thought we would get in GT5 when GT5prologue was released (oh btw, while we're at it, can we get back that "overhead-quasi-movie replay angle" from GT5prologue? Thanks in advance PD ;) ).

a lot of biased fanboy posts in this thread.

though i will reserve final judgement until forza 4 is actually released, there is no doubt it looks like it will offer better content than GT5.

You know what, its kinda true. So much was expected of GT5 but it came short of expectations. Don't get me wrong, its still a great game, but already GT5 feels like an old game. PD is doing NOTHING to show it still can compete with other racing game, but the fun factor runs dry after a while. I agree with the Top Gear part. The events were ********, and no standing start? What's the point of having it then? Its just for show. And no full runway! What was PD thinking? Turn 10 just supports its fans better than PD.
