Pako = BUY IT NOW
I haven't paid for it yet. I have until tomorrow to come to my senses. Chances are I won't and the bass will be in my possession next week. :nervous:

I could hardly sleep last night thinking about the bass. I am calling Pete this morning to square up on the deal. :nervous::scared::crazy:

So I ummmm...., well....kind of, well.... No, I actually just ordered the bass. This axe is something special let me tell you. Should be here a week from tomorrow. YIKES!

No Christmas presents for the kids or the wife this year, but at least I can play them a sweet song on my new sweet bass! :D

Hmm, I played for a little bit years ago,(Got bored of it.) but Dad used to play as a pro and he has some guitars if you guys want some pics.

One of them is a 50th Anniversary Strat, apparently that's good?

Also, has anyone ever heard of a guy called Tony McManus?

It hasn't seriously been 5 years since you picked up the Skjold, has it?!?

That is one bad-ass lookin' bass, Chris!
Normally I let my wife be the voice of reason, but as I inquire about a new bass with her, I get a "Go for it!" response. With me responding with a "OMG" and "Are you serious?", her response is, "Life is too short to not enjoy it."

I love my wife! :D
I know exactly what you mean. My wife and I went out on Saturday night and the topic of Christmas and Anniversaries came up. She already bought her present (it's just easier on everyone that way!) and said I needed to figure out what I wanted. I asked her what my budget was. "It's our 15th. I'll throw down a grand."

I love my wife! :D

Are you F5'ing the tracking number page like I am, like it will ship faster then?

I've just had a man-moment, good heavens that's lovely Pako! Good choice.

Why yes, yes it has been 5 years, and guess what. I put the first scratches on it two weeks ago. My 4 year old and taken a liking to peeling off the foam padding on my arm rest on my office chair exposing the metal frame inside. I was 3 hours into practicing my bass before I realized the back of the bass was resting against bare and sharp metal edge of the exposed arm rest. Needless to say, all arms have been removed from ALL the chairs in the basement. I think I can buff the scratches out so they won't be noticeable. If not, I will have Pete sand it down and re-shoot the back. OUCH!

It sounds like we both have pretty awesome wives! 15 years is awesome man, we celebrated our 16th this summer. I guess they figure after this many years, we have earned a little wiggle room with our wants.

And yes, no matter how many times you mash F5, it won't magically get here any sooner....but I keep trying.

So this is the current up to date photo of the collection. Just need a Rickenbacker 4003 and I think I'll be able to stop for another year or so!

Really? They are GTPlanet Attached images. Odd..... I wonder if anyone else is having issues as well.

I can view them on my iPhone, as well as IE (not logged in, view as guest) etc. I think you must have an issue on your end. *confused*

I can see them all - even from my position on the floor after having fallen over. You are one lucky bastard. And your wife is an angel.

Great collection! How do you like the Orange amp/cab?

I love it! The cab is rated for 350 watts, unlike the head which is 500 so I have to be a bit careful with volume. It has a really warm, beefy sound, but can also has really nice bright, trebly tones which I love. Overall it's an absolute beast haha.

It's especially great with the Thunderbird running though it, I'm honestly surprised the house hasn't collapsed yet

Nice!

Speaking if Rics, I see one for sale on talkbass.com......., just sayin. ;)

Id love to have a Ric for that classic tone you will only get with a Ric. Run that through a SVT and an 8x10, oh my!

:D

I played a Ric in my local music shop a few months back. It was a close call between the Thunderbird but I prefer the thinner neck.

One day I'll own a nice hefty rig, like the SVT. Crazy amounts of money involved though!

Plus I'm a huge Rush fan, so a Rickenbacker to accompany the Jazz bass would be grand!

^Very, very nice! Very cool shot also!

I received a nice little care package from one of the coolest and most talented bass luthiers that I know.

O M G

That is all!

Thanks, mate, appreciated!
You're a bass player? Meh, too bad you don't live in southern germany... we're looking for one. :/

 Too bad the rest of your band doesn't live in NW Montana. I'm looking for a band! :D

Haha, that sucks... :D Which style are you going for? We play pretty wicked progressive metal with a woman in front who does clean vocals and growls and so on... feel free to give it a listen: www.effloresceonline.com
And then: Move to southern germany and join us, haha! :D

I'll give it a listen for sure. I play a lot of blues, jazz, funk but my heart is and always will be in prog. 👍

Oh really? Wow... So the few thousand miles between us suck even more. And yeah, Blues, Jazz... this is where it really happens actually. Lots of respect for guys who really master that stuff!

Anyway, back to topic i'd say?! Sorry for the interruption. 8)

Finally got around to putting some media together.

Yes, it is definitely one of the best I've played as well. I told Pete today that my Offset '92 will be taking a back seat for while. This thing is phenomenal!

Specs: The bass has an obeche body, Flamed Koa top and katalox fingerboard with glow in the dark fret dots on the side and on the face. The neck is three piece ash and maple with the ash in the center. The pickup is the C-4 pickup with the selector switch and the SPM preamp with sweepable mids, a lot like the deluxe.

Nice finger-work there - the fret-less keyboard is so 'double-bass' to me (having grown up around bass violas and such) but to hear you talk about the light weight and 'balance' was fascinating. Nothing so distracting as a guitar that doesn't stay in place while you're playing. Looks like the kind of guitar that would just shrug off a smashing on stage - you know - where the star slams, and slams, and slams a guitar on the floor, and just a knob or something pops off and he's standing there on stage looking like a sheepish wimp.
Bet those strings cost a packet, too. If I had this in my hands i'd be jamming all day - put something on and jam with it - if you know what I mean.
BTW - Doge is trying to take over your video - just watch that rascal, very shibespicious.
Thanks for putting up the video - was great to hear the guitar - though it was somewhat low-volume.

Edit: Came back in here to say that my Yamaha twelve-stringer is all strung up now with new strings - sounds like a chorus of Angels. Rich, balanced sound from every string, perfect blend of harmonics. The set I replaced was about ten years old, or more, and beginning to sound 'twangy'. The sound now is absolutely ear-filling. If I slam at it hard enough, you got to shout to be heard, and it stills sounds like music. Good enough.

@Pako, / @Scaff, please delete everything below the line if poss. Thanks. 👍 I messed up the post and can't fix it. :(

PS: I give up:

Ignore what's below (sometimes the new software works counter-intuitively (invasive))
