So do you guys think I should add this guitar to my collection? It's one of the best looking guitars I've ever seen and it sounds great, but I'm still on the fence.

Here's a video on it.

As I previously mentioned in the latest purchases thread, I've recently acquired something rather special (If I may say so):

Apologies for the terrible picture, I'll take some better pictures and with my other guitars soon. Stay tuned for more (pun fully intended).
It's even a 12-string too. I'm super jealous.

Sorry it's taken a while to get this up. I've been too busy playing the Ric to stop and take pictures.
  • Top: 3/4 size Yamaha FG-Junior JR-1 acoustic, bought new in '03.
  • Left: Squire Jagmaster 20th anniversary edition, bought second hand in '07 is an '02 model year.
  • Right: Rickenbacker 360/12, bought new in '15 but is form the '14 model year. I am utterly in love with the combination of the 12 string sound hollow body sound. Not sure I ever want to buy another guitar for fear of it not sounding this good .
I've a Vox AD15-VT amp tucked away too which sounds pretty ace for such a small amp.

What do you do when you find an old guitar neck and body underneath your bed, but no electronics whatsoever?

You make a ghetto 22 fret acoustic with a tremelo bridge!

Sorry about the flash and lighting but here is some of my guitars.

Forgot what the name of it is but its an Ibanez

How does a Bigsby compare to a Floyd Rose?
Well, for starters, It's a lot easier to install.
Other than that, a Bigsby is meant for light vibrato use and isn't well suited to heavy use (like divebombing) unlike a Floyd rose. They're for completely different styles of music, really.

@Solo
Absolutely beautiful Rickenbacker! Some day I hope to have a Mapleglo 330 Rickenbacker in my collection!

As for me, I finally have a Telecaster in my possession. A 2011 Baja Classic Player Tele. And it by far sounds the best out of all my guitars. Such versatility!

A lil (early) Christmas haul for my bro and I.

I finally own a guitar, and it's a pretty good Mexican CP Jazzmaster. I may or may not be totally in love with it.

My brother treated himself to this:

1962 Gibson Melody maker with the original (cardboard) case. Had a headstock repair though, but it plays pretty well.

What a find. 👍

That should go well with the ukelele.
You can definitely get some interesting... hmm what do you call that... I'm not sure what the term is. I guess it would be considered harmonizing. Just like when two people sing together.

So I will say interesting harmonization. 👍 They actually go quite well together in my opinion.

I have a really cheap (but large) acoustic guitar I like to take the steel to often because the action (that too may be the wrong term) is really high. So its kinda like playing a Dobro. I tried that in Open G tuning. Next time I pull it out I will try some Open E tuning amd see how goes.

.

First the test, then the lesson - I would give you a B if only for intuition and perception (academia aside.)

Steel guitars and ukes together go back a long way. When I was a teen we actually called steel guitars 'Hawaiian' guitars (as opposed to 'Spanish' guitars.)
There is a fascinating history behind it - involving the Portuguese, a certain machete, the 'Frying Pan', and the Hawaiian music craze that hit the USA in the '20s and '30s.

Chick magnet? :D

I would have never guessed they were actually played together. Very interesting. 👍

Chick magnet?

According to Gerald Ross, anyway.
I'm glad you found that interesting; not a wasted post. Yes, the ukelele and steel guitars do go together very well.

So now you have a ukelele and a lap steel - all you need is a shirt festooned with frangipani and a skiffle bass . . . and you're on the beach. Look out for Sponge Bob.

Actually . . . if a Hawaiian shirt, too, makes an appearance in your life I would think that the universe is trying to tell you something.

To egg you on - check out this steel guitar jam:

I haven't posted anything in this thread in months so here's a couple pics I took of my two Japanese made Fenders... I'll chuck an updated group photo on here some time today too.

I will watch that video when I get a chance.

On another note, I swear I will post a video of a me wearing a Hawaiian shirt playing a lap steel and a uke at the same time if a Hawaiian shirt suddenly comes into my life.

And if it does, you are my firsr victim of Wham next time around.

@kolio - Reeling down this page of guitars every time I reenter the thread is . . . . sick.
I mean 'sick' as in sick with envy, avarice, jealousy - whatever cardinal sins one could think of to lay it on . . .

Since I stuck my nose in here again recently it perked my interest again so had to dust off the old 12-Stringer during Christmas (for the proverbial carols) and because I was playing Daniel's Wham-game at the time actually learned to play 'Last Christmas' to the awe of all the hoi polloi that seem to like the song during that period. It's only 4 bloody chords! No wonder it's an earworm. 4 Chords repeated endlessly? Obviously every verse can be jazzed up.

My Casio DG10, now actually an antique, saw the light, too, and I dusted that off, got some fresh batteries in it and - and woah! - I realise with a little bit of Bluetooth fiddling this guitar could be played in the park. And I could make it sound like anything from a Hammond to a Strat. Digitally, that is. :sly:
Some pics, soon.

No Hawaiian shirt, yet? Nor even the occasional leis? Life's got to be a beach, first, kolio. :mischievous:

Currently waiting for a Cort MBC1 Matt Bellamy signature to be delivered from Manson guitar works. Hopefully should be here tomorrow for pictures.

Did you change your mind on the build quality of them? Or is the Muse fan inside you just overruling that for now .
